The king tilted his head, though he wasn’t sure what she meant by her words. His song ended, the wound on Robin’s side healed, but he helped her to her feet anyway. Meryasek frowned as she didn’t answer his initial question, and while he appreciated her insight, he’d make that decision for himself. “Tell me,” he repeated, meeting her gaze as they stood there. He released her hand when he was sure she was on her feet, offering Robin his arm instead so he could lead her deeper into the forest and to safety. “And why you think they’re too important to get rid of.”

...

Meryasek:

“To important to get rid of? No, that is not it,” Robin admits, hands moving so that one rests on Meryasek’s arm as they begin their journey back into the forest. Deliberately, she begins forming sentences, putting words together to explain why she wants to delay Wade’s reckoning. Part of it is something she won’t admit, that the betrayal is too fresh for her to have fully processed and she still cares for the bastard. But the part that she can explain? That is easier. “His name is Wade Calhoun, and I thought he was content hunting demons and why would I care if he did so? So I taught him how to protect himself, but I was proved wrong on put my trust on him and I want his agony to extend, like a wound rotting from the inside out. Aside from that, he is the first direct link I have to the Eye that will not be traced back to me so I desire to exploit that. So no, he is  not important to get rid off, I just want to use him to get to the organization he gave his loyalty to and make him suffer on the process.”

Meryasek’s magic was spread throughout the forest. He’d ingrained a bit of his own song into the flowers, into the trees, whispers that would give him news, tell him what was wrong, and that’s exactly what had happened, now. Robin was in trouble, and maybe he was too hyperaware of the fey now – he didn’t think twice about using his magic to transport him across the forest, standing now above Robin. The Fall Chancellor was weak, her blood spilling into the fauna below her, and he kneeled beside her, “You’ll be fine,” he murmured, mostly to make her relax. “Who did this to you?” he asked, his hand coming to rest above hers. Blood seeped between his fingers, but he began his healing song, the wound slowly but surely stitching itself up. She would be weak, still, but no longer in danger. “Tell me.”

...

Meryasek:

“Someone who I thought I could trust,” she gasps out as magic begins filling her, healing her, faster than she would have been able to do alone and panicking. As much as Robin had witnessed combat before, but it had never been as real. Not when no one could get close enough to wound, not when her magic could always protect her. The Autumn Court was meant to be one for guile, for trickery and strategy, they were not warriors, they were mastermind, always counting the grain to ensure they would survive the Winter, and she had grown complacent on that role. But no longer. She needed to learn how to fight beyond her magic. “I will not make that mistake again, but they are too useful to kill just yet.”

Who? @meryasek

Robin had miscalculated the deepness of the wound, when she had left the clearing and Wade behind. She had thought it possible for her to reach one of the border settlements, perhaps even find a healer before it’s too late. She is proven wrong near her destination, when her legs give out under her and she collapses into a heap of flowers. A groan leaves her lips as she does, the movement pulling at the open wound and causing fresh blood to flow from it. She needs help, and quickly, lest she bleeds out and gives another soldier to the Drow Queen. Determination burns through her veins as she begins to pull herself across the ground, unwilling to give up and admit defeat. She doesn’t have to go far, she finds out, as a familiar presence enters the vicinity and relief sweeps through her. Hazy brown eyes look up to meet Meryasek’s and she gives him a bloody smile of relief.

“Mery,” she manages to gasp out throughout the blood, one hand coming to her stomach to press against the wound. “Help.”
