-

Welcome japonistasarqueologicos to a new installment of Japanese Archaeology. This time we move to Japanese prehistory. Having said that, make yourselves comfortable as we begin.

-

I have the pleasure of introducing you to the Haniwa sculptures. What does this term mean? When did it emerge? And what were its functions?

-

The first questions for this chapter will be: When did it emerge? They date back to the 6th and 7th centuries AD. As I have already mentioned on several occasions, Japanese chronology is difficult to understand for Western eyes since it must be seen with Eastern eyes.

-

The second question will be: Where can we find these works of art? We can find them in many places, but I am here to highlight one in particular. It is one of the best Nintendo games and its name is Atsumare Dōbutsu no Mori.

-

I hope you liked chapter 1 and I will see you in the next chapters of this series of history and archaeology. Best regards.

So A Concept That Came To My Head With One Thought:

so a concept that came to my head with one thought:

"Princess Peach is a Princess..... where's the king?"

So, I'll introduce the washed-up king I came up with, King Hawthorne Toadstool!

As a young King, he was a kind, benevolent leader who pushed the Toads to be better than they were, and had a wonderful, friendly alliance with the neighboring Koopa Kingdom. He was seen as a bit tough, but fair and good. The only problem was that he partied. Sometimes, a bit too much.

It was this partying that lead to Toadsworth being handed a baby Peach by a mysterious woman. No one knows who she was, or why she abandoned Peach to the castle. But, Hawthorne quickly took to being a father and started teaching the baby Peach everything he could as early as he could.

However, it wasn't much. As, when Peach was very young, the Toads of the kingdom hoisted King Hawthorne out of the throne and crowned Peach as their ruler. Their reasoning was that he was too hard on them (even if he was actually really supportive and just wanted them to be the best they could), while Peach didn't expect anything from them. There were a few Toads who weren't sure of this change, asking how well a child could rule them, but most Toads thought this a great idea.

Hawthorne, without his throne, became a bit.... melancholy. He is just an "odd, lonely, sad man" who drinks in the crevices' of the Mushroom Kingdom. He'll talk about how back in his day they didn't have a crisis every fuckin day, and they certainly didn't have an overworked plumber chasing after an overgrown fire-breathing turtle. Ah, well. He doesn't try to contest the crown at all, and simply tries to keep to himself and out of the hero's way.

Peach has not seen him since she was very young and would not recognize him. In fact, not really anyone would. Even his old friend Toadsworth. Most older Toads would have to have their memory jogged of him.

A Concept My Boyfriend And I Tossed Back And Forth A While Ago That I Suddenly Remembered And Felt Like

A concept my boyfriend and I tossed back and forth a while ago that I suddenly remembered and felt like drawing; The Rogue Toad -Also known as The Red Rogue! We came up with him after tossing back and forth ideas for party members for a stealth-based Mario game.

This Toad, after a youth of servitude to the Princess, finally snapped and had enough of the mistreatment. He fled the castle, abandoning his post and turning to a life of crime.

The Red Rogue hates Peach with a passion and actually runs a halfway house for Toads that want to escape her terrible management style. The footstool punishments, the payment only in hugs and kisses, having your life risked for a princess who doesn't know how to defend herself, getting underestimated just because of their species - Toads that wanted to get away from it could go there. Most of them go back, merely using the house as a place they can relax and be themselves.

The Red Rogue is now the head of a criminal empire, pulling strings only a Toad could because no one expects much from them. He can go undercover as a normal Toad, no one noticing his distinguishing big eyebrows or shroom scar. He's even gone back to the castle, and been face to face with the Princess. Just goes to show she doesn't really notice them much if she doesn't realize his features.

His scar is from when he got royal footstool duty during the princess's "that time of the month"..... Her monthly foot fungus. What? What did you think it was? She lives around mushrooms constantly, of course she gets monthly fungus. The spot got infected very badly and part of his shroom had to be cut out. Leaving the scar.

the Fabric of time and space in the Mario and sonic universes

I find it very funny just how different the two Universes are in terms of how each deal with the concept of time travel and alternate universes. Because in the Mario universes the fabric of time and space tend to be respect....while in the sonic universe they Crip walk over the damn thing

i’d like to humbly recommend pokemon? ik sword and shield can be difficult because they have more time based events now (ie running away from pokemon in tall grass) but any of the previous generations, if available, should be super accessible

Hey does anyone have a list of more popular games that someone could play with just one hand? My friend doesn’t have use of their right hand but wants some fun time killers.

They’ve got a nintendo switch and are looking for more lax games (animal crossing, night in the woods, Kentucky route zero, ace attorney, etc) but I appreciate literally any recommendations.

Please boost if you’ve got followers who might be able to help answer this!

Thank you!

In The Toy Time Galaxy In Super Mario Galaxy, A Planetoid Exists That, Unlike Nearly Every Other Object
In The Toy Time Galaxy In Super Mario Galaxy, A Planetoid Exists That, Unlike Nearly Every Other Object

In the Toy Time Galaxy in Super Mario Galaxy, a planetoid exists that, unlike nearly every other object in that galaxy, is not a clearly identifiable toy or food-related item. The official guide for the game also does not identify it, merely calling it "a planetoid with a screw".

The internal name for that planetoid in the game's code is "RayGunPlanet". This suggests that it was intended to resemble some manner of vintage ray gun toy, though which part of the planetoid is supposed to represent which part of the toy is not entirely clear.

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Help Features Such As The Cosmic Spirit And The Hint TVs Are Coded To Disappear
In Super Mario Galaxy 2, Help Features Such As The Cosmic Spirit And The Hint TVs Are Coded To Disappear

In Super Mario Galaxy 2, help features such as the Cosmic Spirit and the Hint TVs are coded to disappear when playing as Luigi.

The technical explanation for this is most likely that playing as Luigi changes the controls and the developers did not want to record two separate sets of inputs for the help functions, instead choosing to not make these features available at all when playing as him.

However, a humorous side effect of this is that in-universe, this makes it appear as though no one simply wants to help Luigi.
