The night sky see's it all~

The Night Sky See's It All~
The Night Sky See's It All~

02.01.23

Okay, so I need to start studying like crazy. Today I visited an academy which helps you prep for exams in the evening. I'll be joining it from tomorrow. I realised that I'm not just paying for learning, but for time allocation as well. I'm paying them to take my time so that I can get my life together. I hate how my self-accountability in terms of studying went downhill. I'll be waking up at 4 am from tomorrow.

Mental Crop Rotation

When farmers grow the same crop too many years in a row, it can leave their soil depleted of minerals and other nutrients that are vital to the health of their fields.

To avoid this, farmers will often alternate the crops that they grow because some plants will use up different minerals (such as nitrogen) while other plants replenish those minerals. This process is known as “crop rotation.”

So the next time you find that you need to step away from a project to work on something else for a while, don’t beat yourself up for “quitting” that project. Give yourself permission to practice “mental crop rotation” to maintain a healthy brain field.

Because I’ve found that when that unnecessary guilt and pressure are removed from the process, a good mental crop rotation can help you feel more energized and invigorated than ever once you’re ready to rotate back to that project.

10 small tips to improve your productivity

Who can resist reading another little post full of tips to help you get more work done? Here is a few things that I find useful when trying to get myself motivated.

Clear desk, clear mind - I like to organise things before I start working. If things are messy, I get a little preoccupied and procrastinate even more. My suggestion is clear your desk, sort everything you’ll need to study and get on!

The two minute rule - If a task that needs to be done takes less than two minutes, just do it. My dad has often suggested that this is a great way to sort out your priorities and so far it has worked for me. Things like check my emails, cross off events from my planner, file something away don’t take long but get you in the mood for productivity. As they say “object in motion, stay in motion”.

Break your time up - Schedule your study time and any breaks you need to take. This helps structure your day and acts as a motivation to get things done. Especially if you can reward yourself at the end!

Leave your phone alone - Like most people I use my phone constantly but when I’m trying to work, it is best to leave it alone. Out of sight, out of mind. Try leaving it on silent and behind you so you aren’t tempted to pick it up after every beep. Use your break times to check it.

Find your top three to five priorities - Seeing a long list of things to do is usually, for some people, kind of counterproductive. Figure out the main things that need to be done and work on those. If you’re able to complete those main things, you’ll feel like you’ve accomplished the days necessities and may even want to complete some more.

Try using a mindmap instead of a to do list - Apparently using a mindmap layout instead of a traditional list can help boost productivity. It is a little more funky way to see all your outstanding tasks and might not look as overwhelming as a super long list.

Wear headphones - You don’t have to always listen to things but it can help block out any noise that can distract you. If you’re someone that likes some music, try songs with little or no words. This is a great playlist by Spotify.

Don’t multitask - As much as you think you can do it, trying to multitask usually ends up in a confused mess and takes twice the time. Stick to one task at a time. If you think of something you need to do, write it down and do it later.

Change things up - Doing the same things in the same place can get boring. Make the effort every now and then to change where you’re studying or how you’re studying. This can include moving your studying from the desk to the kitchen table for a change of scenery, or making flash cards instead of annotating your notes. Studying with a family member or friends is a fun way to get some work done!

Be positive - Most people have times when they just don’t want to study or anything, it is natural. However it is not worth sitting staring at your books in an unmotivated mood just waiting to feel inspired. If you’re not feeling it, do something else for a while. Come back to it a bit later and have another go. Usually walking away and coming back is all you need to feel more productive.

I hope these few tips are useful! These are the kind of things that work for me, so give them a shot and let me know if they help. Best of luck with your studies x

There's so many things I want to do, but some of them are for the wrong reasons. I'm gathering hobbies and things I want to start pursuing because I feel like I need to do more. But do I? I would like to have something tangible to focus on, but do I need to overwhelm myself with a ton of hobbies to keep me busy? Why can't I find something that just feels good and enjoyable to do?

I'm having a tough time.

Earlier This Week I Hit 150 Days Straight On My Goal App. This Little App Has Helped Me So Much When

Earlier this week I hit 150 days straight on my goal app. This little app has helped me so much when it comes to getting things done and reminding myself to take time for me. 150 days isn’t too many when it’s over the year, but I haven’t missed a day since I started using it. Finch has really given me a sense of consistency and success. (Not sponsored, I just really love this app.) So congratulations to me! I’m making so much progress and doing well.

Pretty Privilege In Academia
Pretty Privilege In Academia
Pretty Privilege In Academia

pretty privilege in academia

'pretty privilege' is the idea that people who are perceived as more attractive often receive more opportunities, attention, and rewards compared to those who are considered less attractive. this concept is not limited to social settings but also especially extends to (in) academic environments.

in academia, research has shown that physically attractive students tend to receive higher grades because they are perceived as more intelligent, even when their actual performance does not differ significantly from their less attractive peers. this bias can affect everything from classroom interactions to evaluations and recommendations, potentially influencing a student's academic trajectory.

the underlying reason for this phenomenon is the "physical attractiveness stereotype," which assumes that attractive individuals possess positive qualities such as intelligence, sociability, and competence. it leads to preferential treatment and better opportunities for those who are deemed attractive.

it's important to be aware of this bias and strive to treat everyone fairly, regardless of their appearance. while we can't always control how others perceive us, we can make a conscious effort to judge people based on their abilities and contributions rather than their looks.

now, there is no benefit in ignoring it - because it simply will always exist. instead, you can choose to take advantage of it.

why people take advantage of pretty privilege:

increased opportunities: leveraging your attractiveness can open doors to more opportunities that might not be as easily accessible otherwise.

positive perceptions: attractive individuals are often perceived more favorably, which can lead to better treatment and more support from your peers and instructors.

enhanced confidence: knowing that you are perceived positively can boost your confidence, making you more likely to engage and participate actively in academic settings.

competitive edge: in highly competitive environments, any advantage can make a significant difference. taking advantage of pretty privilege can provide an edge over others.

but you should never only rely on your appearance to get you further in life - it is only to play the same game.

if you're interested in enhancing your appearance, here are some tips to help you feel more confident and attractive. it's important to remember that beauty is subjective and varies from person to person, and self-confidence plays a significant role in how others perceive you.

skincare: have a daily routine (cleanse, tone, and moisturize your skin. remember to use products suited to your skin type.) and apply sunscreen daily.

hair care: regularly maintain your hair, keeping it clean, well-trimmed, and styled in a way that suits your face shape and personal style. use conditioner and hair masks to keep your hair healthy and shiny.

oral hygiene: brush and floss your teeth daily to maintain a bright smile and fresh breath. visit the dentist regularly.

dress well: wear clothes that fit well and flatter your body shape. choose outfits that reflect your personal style and make you feel confident. dress appropriately for different occasions.

accessories: use accessories like jewelry, watches, and scarves to add a touch of elegance and build your outfits. ensure accessories complement your overall look without overpowering it.

physical health: engage in regular physical activity to stay fit and healthy. exercise can improve your posture and boost your confidence. eat a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains to support your health and appearance. drink plenty of water to keep your skin hydrated and glowing.

attitude: a genuine smile can make you appear more approachable and attractive. maintain good posture, make eye contact, and use confident body language.

social skills: improve your communication skills to connect better with others. show genuine interest in others and practice empathy in your interactions. charisma and behavior can make or break appearing attractive.

remember! enhancing your appearance should be about making yourself feel good and confident, rather than solely seeking external validation. what you find attractive and enjoy should come before what other people like.

how im preparing for 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕

How Im Preparing For 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕

MY MANIFESTING LIST ;

every year i always make a list of the things that i wanna manifest in 2025, i dont always complete it in the first sitting bcuz i add onto it as the year progresses but i like to have a basic framework of everything that im manifesting in that year.

How Im Preparing For 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕
How Im Preparing For 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕

also along with my manifest list for 2025, i also create a 2025 vision board because it motivates me and reminds me of all the amazing things that im going to experience in 2025.

REFLECTING ON THIS YEAR ;

so in my notion i have a section called the 'monthly digest' where every single month i break down the 4 weeks of the month and everything that i did in them in relation to my goals. after every month i write a little summary.

so with that being said i have a LOT to go back to and reflect on so that i can see what i accomplished this year and what i can do better in the next year. this reflection system that i have is so helpful so i'll set one up for 2025 so that i can also have that at my disposal.

BREAKING UP THE NEXT YEAR ;

i break up my year into 4 quarters (each lasting 3 months) that way i can see my year broken up and i have a clear plan and i can be organized. quarter one (january - march) quarter two (april - june) so on and so forth. and after every quarter i do a little analysis.

How Im Preparing For 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕
How Im Preparing For 2025⋆.ೃ࿔*:・🍬💕

something else that i wanna try for next year is giving myself quarterly themes. like for each quarter of the year i'll focus on a different aspect of myself, i think that could be fun…💬🎀

PREPARATIONS ;

im wrapping up some things like my projects, assignments and things of that nature so that i can go into the next year on a clean slate. furthermore im making plans for new years eve, and january and making sure that i've already set some things in motion.

all in all, with everything in motion and everything set in place im going into the new year INCREDIBLY confident 💕📔

Tricking Yourself Into Doing Tasks That Make You Nervous
Tricking Yourself Into Doing Tasks That Make You Nervous
Tricking Yourself Into Doing Tasks That Make You Nervous

tricking yourself into doing tasks that make you nervous

you know the situations. when you get wrapped up overthinking and suddenly, this seemingly easy task seems horrible and daunting. here are some tips to help you trick your brain into completing the action.

visualise success. imagine how good it will feel once the task is completed. this can boost your motivation and reduce anxiety.

pair the task with an enjoyable activity - for example listening to your favourite music or having a nice cup of coffee while working.

promise yourself a reward for completing the task. it could be something small like a treat or a break to do something you enjoy.

tell yourself that you're just excited. you're challenging yourself. this positive gaslighting will help you feel more positive about your nervous energy.

Earlier This Month, I Started Comparing Myself With Other People’s Progress And It Made Me Really Insecure.
Earlier This Month, I Started Comparing Myself With Other People’s Progress And It Made Me Really Insecure.

Earlier this month, i started comparing myself with other people’s progress and it made me really insecure. I felt so down afterwards and it made me feel like my efforts were not enough.

This day, i finally decided to jot down all my feelings in a journal and reflect on things i needed to do in order for me to prevent being so harsh with my self.

I realized that comparing myself with other people is just so bad for my mental health and it’s not in any way helping with my progress as a med student and as a person. I know for myself that I cannot prevent myself from being jealous with other people’s lives (let’s be real here shall we) as it’s part of how we’re built as humans.

Sooo, in order for me to be at peace, i unfollowed and muted some of the people that’s making me feel so insecure. (Huhu im so sorry, im the problem here and not those people who I unfollowed)

I listed all my monthly achievements (since march) and failures then reflected on the things that i can improve on myself based on what I previously wrote.

I just wish this works and this makes me stop comparing myself for the next few months. I just can’t help being insecure sometimes:(((

would you still love and respect me if I destroy my body? would you still love and respect me if I didn't get out of bed or move? would you still love and respect me if I did not contribute to society and perform productivity? would you still love and respect me if I harmed myself through alcohol, blades, food and/or drugs? would you still love and respect me if I were unhealthy and didn't do anything about it? would you still love and respect me unconditionally if i were a broken down building on a dark, gloomy street that was once a lovely neighborhood with parks and joy? would you still visit? would you still love and respect me if i didn't take care of myself? why do you love me? would you respect me if the only thing I can do is love?

One thing that has been making me feel truly miserable is my lack of will to study/work. Working I kind of understand due to my discontent with my career paths, but when it comes to studying I don’t really have that many excuses. I hate my university, but I love my major. So, it makes me downhearted to see how unmotivated I am nowadays to read about economy and related contents. I decided to change this. Everyday for the next weeks, I’m going to be studying for 30 minutes, at least or at most. And the strategy is: no fun pomodoro. I used to think that “Animedoro” was the best study technique out there, but recently I noticed how it’s a tricky trail for me. Since I have been lacking motivation, what I do is work for 20/30 minutes then grab my phone and do infinite scrolling or get lost in a Sex and the City episode. And I cannot make me stop. Today I stumbled into a video that talked exactly about this problem. Instead of doing something fun when you end a focus cycle, do something boring, that makes studying or working seems fun next to it. Or, and here’s my perception, something that doesn’t stimulate your brain in the wrong way. Here are the things that I believe requires thinking, so I don’t lose my focus flow (they are not necessarily boring to me, but some of them tires me quickly which makes me give up on them even quicker):

Reading the news.

Watch someone that motivates me to study/work.

Watch/listen to a podcast about something useful.

Sudoku video.

Math problems videos.

Solve a sudoku problem.

Read a few pages of one of the dense books I’m probably reading at the moment (I'm a slow reader so I know it won't fully distract me heheh)

If working, read an econ paper or something related to.

Or just do nothing. Go for a walk. Make some pancakes. Grab water and contemplate it.

<3 and if doesn't work, that's okay. I'll try something new <3

Here's the video in question:

i decided to do this 100 days of productivity challenge because ive been feeling like a zombie lately and coincidentally a lot of this kind of post have been coming up in my feed. so let's try it!

day 1 / 13th of september / tuesday

things i need to get done:

• all of my internship work

• finish the chapter im reviewing for my uni lecture

• organize my f*cking room cause i cant find anything in this mess

things i want to get done but thats ok if i dont because im coming down with something which is making me extra tired:

• study math for college applications

• read that tree book i'm currently reading or read that book about revolutions that i haven't started yet

i'll be back when the day is over to check what i managed to complete!

see ya later kisses and cheese <3

little note: this is also a little exercise for my writing skills in english because it's been a while since i wrote anything in this language. if you notice any spelling or grammar mistakes please!!! let!!! me!!! know!!!! portuguese is my mother tongue so it would be interesting if i could practice some other language since i dont have the time anymore to actually study my target languages :/ (french and spanish and i would always consume some material with more advanced words in english)

3/100 Days Of Productivity
3/100 Days Of Productivity

Soooo I have a test tomorrow, my project is due soon, and my head hurts and overall I don't feel that well… That being said, I have made a Notion dashboard! I was inspired by work by a looot of people here, so I wanted to give a try too!

And I have to be honest… It's waaay more practical than i initially thought! I am genuinely excited to use it as a hub for anything that interests me, and I can see myself using this for a loong time! Here is how it turned out:

3/100 Days Of Productivity

I was heavily inspired by this tutorial, so if you wanna create something similar, here u go: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FrhFvIsq86g

I still have to make the dashboard for my uni specifically, but I gotta take it one step at the time! Also I GOTTA STUDY FOR MY TEST, which I did 😅

P. S. My board is in Serbian, if you were wondering what language that is 😆
