I'm listening to the Bungou Stray Dogs Opening Themes and I wanna draw fanart so bad but I've got dumb responsibilities >:/

Updates and stuff under the cut~ <3

It's a bit of a long post, sorry

I drew OC stuff yesterday but never posted it and I feel like that was a good choice on my part honestly.

I'm quite busy today, but I'll try to post some BSD sketches later on, and I'll most likely be getting cotl sometime this week. (Why do you have a plushy but not the game? Because I thought I'd have the game by the time I got the plushy lol)

I recommend expecting more fanart than usual! I got a new drawing tablet, it's completely different from my old one and I'll probably end up doing fanart while I figure stuff out~

I also want to do some Danny Phantom stuff because it's the anniversary, but I'm not entirely sure what or if I will. (May be the brief return of Phantom's Façade)

Anyway, today is an all or nothing posting day, I will either post nothing, or everything!

If you've read this far, thanks for reading my rambles

See you! <3

My son has set the house up with a Pi-Hole. It’s a raspberry pi running Ad blocking on the whole house’s network.

We’re a few hours in and we’re seeing effects, as well as some teething problems.

— Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 11, 2022

>First, we’ve discovered that about a quarter of all the internet connection in or out of the house were ad related. In a few hours, that’s about 10,000 out of 40,000 processed.

>We also discovered that every link on Twitter was blocked. This was solved by whitelisting the https://t.co domain.

>Once out browsing the Web, everything is loading pretty much instantly. It turns out most of that Page Loading malarkey we’ve been accustomed to is related to sites running auctions to sell Ad space to show you before the page loads. All gone now.

>We then found that the Samsung TV (which I really like) is very fond of yapping all about itself to Samsung HQ. All stopped now. No sign of any breakages in its function, so I’m happy enough with that.

>The primary source of distress came from the habitual Lemmings player in the house, who found they could no longer watch ads to build up their in-app gold. A workaround is being considered for this.

>The next ambition is to advance the Ad blocking so that it seamlessly removed YouTube Ads. This is the subject of ongoing research, and tinkering continues. All in all, a very successful experiment.

>Certainly this exceeds my equivalent childhood project of disassembling and assembling our rotary dial telephone. A project whose only utility was finding out how to make the phone ring when nobody was calling.

For you can do it too!https://t.co/l1SLzPrzp6

— Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 11, 2022

>Update: All4 on the telly appears not to have any ads any more. Goodbye Arnold Clarke!

They show your your stats on a neat little dashboard. pic.twitter.com/RQB39IvnKD

— Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 12, 2022

>Lemmings problem now solved.

>Can confirm, after small tests, that RTÉ Player ads are now gone and the player on the phone is now just delivering swift, ad free streams at first click.

>Some queries along the lines of “Are you not stealing the internet?” Firstly, this is my network, so I may set it up as I please (or, you know, my son can do it and I can give him a stupid thumbs up in response). But there is a wider question, based on the ads=internet model.

>I’m afraid I passed the You Wouldn’t Download A Car point back when I first installed ad-blocking plug-ins on a browser. But consider my chatty TV. Individual consumer choice is not the method of addressing pervasive commercial surveillance.

>Should I feel morally obliged not to mute the TV when the ads come on? No, this is a standing tension- a clash of interests. But I think my interest in my family not being under intrusive or covert surveillance at home is superior to the ad company’s wish to profile them.

There’s a handy explanatory video from Dr. Johnny Ryan which sets out how we could end up with Just So Much ads.

Each webpage load can potentially run an auction (with you as the prize pig on the block) sending data to loads of different brokers. https://t.co/wUosBLjM3f

Privacy International has a short and clear guide to what hardware you can use for setting up a Pi-Hole as well as some setup instructions.

Ad-blocking (home surveillance thwarting) is a human rights issue too!https://t.co/1vphCsaug1

— Simon McGarr (@Tupp_Ed) August 12, 2022

>Aside: 24 hours of Pi Hole stats suggests that Samsung TVs are very chatty. 14,170 chats a day.

>YouTube blocking seems difficult, as the ads usually come from the same domain as the videos. Haven’t tried it, but all of the content can also be delivered from a no-cookies version of the YouTube domain, which doesn’t have the ads. I have asked my son to poke at that idea.

This has proved a popular thread. I have no soundcloud, and the things I sell are not of general use.

But you can always follow & support Digital Rights Ireland (who once knocked down a state surveillance law for half a billion people) @DRIalerts https://t.co/vrAPYsxjP4

Hey, PSA:

On your phone, go to Settings> Security and Privacy> Privacy> Other Privacy Settings> Ads> Delete Advertising ID

Then go back to Other Privacy Settings> Google location history> Turn off Location History &/or Turn-on Auto-Delete (you can set a time period of how long to keep it)

Then, staying on Other Privacy Settings, go to '+ See all activity controls'> Web & App activity> Turn off (you can also turn-on Auto-Delete for here too)

Then Scroll down to Personalized ads> My Ad Center> Turn Off Personalized Ads.

Google has no business knowing/storing everything you do online, and knowing/storing where you go everyday. Turn it off.

These instructions are for an Android phone, IOS might be different. If you have IOS or another operating system feel free to add on with your own map to where they've buried these settings in your phone to help others.

Do you need a new smart phone? Check out, on the go phones at nordgrenexperience.com

https://www.nordgrenexperience.com/product-page/samsung-galaxy-s20-plus-g985fd-dual-sim-8gb-ram-128gb-lte-cosmic-grey

Do You Need A New Smart Phone? Check Out, On The Go Phones At Nordgrenexperience.com

Seven things that are running down your smartphone battery

1. Is your phone looking for something? Constantly searching for 4G signal, wifi or eternal love can be a drain on the resources of even the most parsimonious gadget. This applies particularly if your phone is looking for more than one thing at once, for example if it has fallen in love with your router. Consider leaving them together for long enough that they can decide they’re not that into each other after all.

2. Check the permissions of any apps you have installed. Are they allowed to use your location? Are they allowed to use the microphone? Are they allowed to provide asylum for refugee artificial intelligences? Sustaining an artificial intelligence can reduce your battery life. Be aware that turning this permission off may lead to any ejected artificial intelligences taking refuge in other smart appliances, such as your fridge and lighting system, or in extreme cases to the snuffing out of a delicate, beautiful miracle of emerging cognition.

3. Do you actually have a battery? Some of the most severe battery life problems are caused by not actually having a battery. You can check by sawing off the bottom end of your smartphone and shaking it a bit to see what falls out. Don’t worry, you can glue everything back in again if it turns out you do have one after all.

4. It is also possible that your smartphone is using extra battery in order to annoy you. Check your settings. On an iPhone, battery settings can be found under Settings > Battery. Check if the option ‘User-irritating mode’ is switched on. Turning this off can save up to ten percent of battery charge.

5. Settings > Battery will also reveal how much battery your apps have been committing. Battery is a serious crime and your phone is legally responsible for the behaviour of its apps (Fondleslab vs. Jenkins, 2016). Your phone may be sentenced to years in prison if convicted, which is a problem, because phones are often unwelcome in prisons. Give your apps a stern talking-to at once.

6. Jam. There is jam running down your smartphone battery. How? Why? What kind of slob are you, honestly?

7. Consider your situation further. Are you a jam-powered flesh mannequin, or are you yourself a simulation being run by an alternative level of intelligence? Are you sure? In the latter case, there remains a possibility that you may in fact be being simulated by your smartphone. Your best bet at preserving battery life in this case is to spend as much time as possible in sleep mode.

Surprise! Samsung might've just leaked the Galaxy S8 in this ad
A sneak peek? Samsung's new display ad showed off an unnamed phone, but is it the Samsung phone we've all been waiting for?

Samsung recently released   two different ads showing off its brand-new AMOLED displays. And while the displays are cool and all, the real star of the show is the mysterious smartphone that shows up in both ads. Its unique design leads us to believe that this is the Galaxy S8 we're all waiting to launch sometime this spring.

It is not a swap, the ai is trained to add textures and craters on top of the moon like all phones do to enhance photos, I am sick of telling people this, please watch mrwhosetheboss and MKBHD's videos on this. Please use your goddamn brains. Hell, you can go in settings and turn it off. Either the OP loves misinformation or they can't read.

I haven't seen it get mentioned on Tumblr yet but Samsung has just gotten caught in a hilarious scam: they apparently advertised how their latest phones can take great picture of the moon, compared to other phones!

But it turns out they aren't using machine-learning to clear up blurry pictures, they're using machine-learning to detect when you're taking a picture of the moon, and then they swap in a saved PNG file of the moon.

A reddit user figured this out by taking a photo of the moon from Wikipedia, blurring it in photoshop, then trying to photograph it from across the room with all the lights turned out.

Their Samsung phone somehow managed to "clear up" the blurriness and recover details that weren't there in the first place. Because it's just cheating.
