I searched it up on google, he actually has a cockney accent
I can see Sofia trying to mimic Cedric's accent for fun, giggling to herself as she fails at a British accent. We've already had a scene of her doing an impression of him. When Cedric hears it he claims it's a hate crime, but deep down finds her attempt at his accent cute.

Pairing: Baileywick x Reader
Authorâs Note: Okay, Okay, Okay, off topic, but does Baileywick give anyone else Capricorn/Gemini vibes??? I swear, earth and air signs just be acting a certain way đ I could spot a fellow earth sign just by their slightest mannerisms I swearrr Lmao.Â
Being real though, this has been sitting in my drafts for so long :( so sorry.
Also, I did not do as thorough a proof-read job as I wanted to on this, so sorry for any errors you may find! On a different note, this one is for @ucantseemaowo34â !!! Thank you for this ask! Baileywick doesnât get enough love fr, so this felt fantastic to write :)Â
While growing up, you had always desired one thing:Â
To work at the Enchancia castle.Â
Come to think of it, there wasnât a time that you hadnât wanted to work at the most prestigious castle in all the land. That is, the most prestigious castle to you. With its stunning architecture, fantastic workers of all creeds, and, of course, the welcoming royals, the castle had seemed like a paradise for someone like you. But there was one thing that drew you to the castle the most. And that was your dear friend Baileywick.Â
After moving to Enchancia in your twenties to pursue your dream, you had run into Baileywick while at a local market. It was one of his rare days off, and he had chosen to go purchase some gifts and some items he had forgotten to purchase days previous. And while walking towards the aisle with the whittled figurines at one of the shops, he ran into you.Â
Not recognising you from his years of living in Enchancia, he immediately sparked a conversation and offered to tour you around what he said was the best kingdom in all the lands.Â
At the time you only slightly agreed with his opinion, given you didnât know everything about it, but overtime you grew to love the land as much as him; with its cheerful population and bustling city, you knew that it wouldnât be hard to join their little community.Â
The only problem had been finding a job...With little work experience, you werenât sure what place would fit you best. Your father had taught you the skills of carpentry as a young child, but it wasnât something that you thought would be easy to find a job for. As Baileywick pointed out in his tour early on, the city already had a fine group of carpenters that didnât need apprentices. So it didnât seem as though they, or the castle staff, needed another one to add to the mix.
When Baileywick brought up the topic of careers, he immediately noticed your dread. When you explained the source of that dread though, he promptly eased your worries with one small statement: That the head carpenter at the castle was looking for a partner to aid in his work. And, as it turns out, the man was a friend of your father.
All in all, it seemed as though your dreams were in closer reach than you thought.
Flash forward two years later, and you were thriving in your field. Similar to Baileywick, you had dedicated almost all of your time to your trade. The only difference was that you both began to take more days off in order to spend it with each other.
So much so, that you both set aside one to two days a week to spend together doing whatever it was that caught you guysâ interest that week.
For that last couple of weeks though, Baileywick had noticed that you had been cancelling on him more and more frequently. This was something that flashed immediate red flags in his head. Something had to be wrong; the only thing he had to do was figure out exact what it was that was bothering you.
...
Walking out to the shed you and your fellow carpenters worked in, Baileywick hesitantly knocked on the intricately designed door. He had hoped that you would be the one to open the door and invite him in, but his wishes were sadly not met.
âHello Baileywick! Havenât seen you around these parts in a while, is there something you need?,â Reginald, the head carpenter said.
âWell...There is actually. Is (y/n) here?â
Looking behind him, Reginald snapped his finger and opened the door wider.
âActually, they are! They should be at their station in the back.â
With a pat to the shoulder Baileywick thanked him and manoeuvred his way over to you.
Which was easier said than done.
By the time he got close to your work station, he realised that most of the space was taken up by a large wooden object. This, upon closer inspection, turned out to be an impressively designed wooden statue; something he remembered the king commissioning not too long ago. Come to think of it, it was commissioned around the same time you started flaking on your meet ups...
...
â(Y/n)?â
Uh-oh, you thought, he finally came looking for me..
Letting out a nervous laugh, you turned around to sheepishly look at Baileywick.
âHeyyyy Baileywick..long time no see huh?â
Not finding the humour in your words, Baileywick gave you a scolding look. This only made your nerves worse but was ultimately anticipated. You had been working so hard that you hadnât realised just how long it had been since you had last seen him properly. Unlike him, you were disheveled and looked as if you hadnât slept in weeks. Which wasnât far from the truth....Something you knew he was aware of.
âHa Ha (y/n), very funny. Is this what youâve been doing these last two weeks? You look like you havenât taken a break since you started!â
Hearing it from him made the reality really sink in. You spent so long trying to finish this project as fast as you could that you forgot to focus on your own health and close friends. The guilt pooled in your chest at the thought and you finally gave him a dejected look.
âWell, I mean, yeah. The king wants this project done as soon as possible, so I thought if I pulled a couple all-nighters I might get it done faster and have some more down time. Didnât realise how much that would backfire though...â
Oh (y/n), he thought, always putting work before yourself..
âWell, if thatâs the case, it seems as though a well deserved break is in order. A walk in the woods might do you some good (y/n); you could clear your head and finally explore the kingdomâs landscape in more detail like youâve always wanted.â
This idea did interest you, but there was only one thing keeping you from following through with that plan: you had been isolated so long and had no one to go with.
Sensing your anxiety and reluctance, he decided to try and ease your discomfort.
âDo you not like that suggestion? You can always do whatever else you want, I just thought some fresh air and movement would do you some good.â
Responding quickly, you let out a, âNo! No, that idea is fantastic Bailey! I just....Iâd rather have someone to....yâknow, go with me and do it....â
Oh, he thought.Â
âWould you like...me to go with you....?â
With a confident grin, you said the first thing that came to mind:Â
âOf course!, Who else would make better company than you?â
That statement was what gave him the confidence to confidently say yes and join you. The fact that you were so adamant on wanting to spend time with him despite how bad you felt made him feel those familiar butterflies in his chest. And, for a moment, he felt as though he finally had a chance. A chance to admit how he felt about you.Â
After preparing the supplies needed for a hike in the woods and getting into the proper attire, Bailey met you at the gates of the castle.
âYou all ready to go?â
âReady as Iâll ever be!,â you quipped.
With a fond smile Baileywick offered you his arm and guided you two to the gate.
....
The first twenty minutes of your walk was done with excited chatter, but stopped when the beauty of the flora around you began to blossom and capture you guysâ attention; making you both decide to take a break in order to admire it and harvest what you could.
With that in mind, you pulled your basket in front of you.
Seeing that you were focusing on the fauna surrounding you both, Baileywick decided to scavenge for any edible vegetation. The first being the regions more notable mushrooms.
Picking up the nearest mushroom to him and twirling it between his fingers, Baileywick thought back to the first time he started having feelings for you.
His first glance at you in the market square had him gazing in awe-Â that he can confess to. But beauty often hides the truth, so more time was needed to know if your beauty was deceiving.
And, as he soon found out, the women inside matched the beauty outside. To him, the longer you worked together the more your personality shone. And goodness was it bright.
Every little action you made was perfect in your own little way; even if you would claim otherwise. You constantly changed his perspective on the way he viewed life and he knew that, although you didn't conform to his way of living, he wanted to conform to yours. Even at the expense of his perfectionism.
And though that might be the influence of Sofia talking, he did acknowledge the change that you brought out in him; and he appreciated it. Instead of trying to perfect everything down to the last inch, he let things flow naturally. Instead of getting irritated when things werenât done the way he wanted, he let people have their own creative liberty with how they went about things. And instead of being happy by himself, Baileywick now realised he wanted companionship. More specifically, companionship with you.Â
All in all, Baileywick thought it was only appropriate that you knew these feelings, otherwise it would be awkward on both of your parts. He felt as though you should know how he felt and, in the back of his brain, he hoped that you would reciprocate those feelings.Â
So when you both reached what seemed to be the most beautiful lake he could find in Enchancia to rest at, Baileywick instantly felt that it was best he confessed to you here. Because who else than you deserved absolute perfection?
Gazing over to you, Baileywick felt a fond smile creep onto his face. Despite his workaholic nature, he would give up all of his lifeâs work just to live in this moment with you forever. Your face reflected the purple and orange hues just perfectly and he swore you looked angelic.
Inching closer to you, he took a strand of your hair and began to twirl it around his finger. You raised your shocked eyes in response, which only let your blush become even more evident to him.Â
âBailey?,â you asked, watching him observe your features lovingly.
Pressing his forehead against yours, your breath intertwining and a content affection being built, Baileywick responded with a smooth:
âSometimes I feel sickâŚso anxious and sick- as if my heart is trying to beat its way out of my chest. At first I thought I caught a cold from the children, but when it got worse around you I knew it wasnât just a biological mistake. You were what made my heart race. You were what made me feel like a lovesick teenager again. Looking at you just now, I knew that I had to tell you...âÂ
Pulling you into a hug, his chin resting on your shoulder, he finally admitted it:Â â(y/n), I love you. Iâve loved you for years. I just thought you should know because youâve made such an impact in my boring stiff life. Whether thatâs the Sofia in me taking I donât know, but it remains true just the same.....â
...
Not hearing a response, Baileywick began to pull away from you. That is, until he felt you latch onto him tighter. Staying still, he felt you shaking a bit- as if you were laughing. And for a moment, he felt a bit upset. He had poured his heart out and that was how you respond?
Recoiling, he let out a brief, âHey! Now whatâs th-â
And then he saw it: you had tears in your eyes! That definitely wasnât the reaction he was expecting; he wanted to make you happy, not make you cry! Showing his concern, he quickly said: âOh dear! Are you alright?â
Looking up at him, you let out a giggle through a toothy grin.
âOf course Iâm alright you old fool, I love you too! You just donât know how relieving it is to hear you say that. I was worried that I would have to hear Miranda tease me about my crush on you for the rest of my life!â
Hearing that, Baileywick let out a hearty laugh of his own.
âShe teased you as well?? I swear I havenât been able to get Roland off my back for an eternity! That man does not give up easily, Iâll tell you that..â
Smiling fondly at him, you could only think one thing: God bless the King and Queen of Enchancia for their childish teasing.Â
A laugh broke out between you and, in that moment, everything was right in the world. Everything was how it should be and the two lovers were finally able to live out their dream life: the one where their person loved them back.
Pairing: Cedric the Sorcerer x Alchemist! Reader
Word Count: Roughly 2854 words
Warnings: Mental health and emotional abuse mention
Notes: đłđł Yikes, this took too long to post lmaoo; hopefully the third installment is finished sooner than this one. Iâm sorry to anyone who has been interested in this for its lateness!! For this one I was going for the same story line as the first part, but in Cedricâs point of view; thatâs why it seems so similar. Hopefully you guys like it :) Feedback and requests are always welcomed <3 This oneâs for my boi @queen-of-british-tea !!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Being born the son of Goodwyn the Great, Cedric was destined to have unreachable expectations pushed onto him; his fatherâs blatant adoration for fame and glory had been clear to Cedric from an early age and, given he was the only son in his family, he knew that he would soon be groomed into his fatherâs perfect replacement for when he retired as the Royal Sorcerer.Â
The only problem that arose with that goal was that Cedric was only a child and was prone to making mistake after mistake. He knew he wasnât perfect, no person is, but why did his father have to mention that fact so much?
It appeared that his father just couldnât understand the notion that he was a conscience, feeling person though and decided to continue his crude actions anyway. No matter how much it hurt Cedric.Â
Unbothered by this fact though, his father set out on a mission to make Cedricâs life almost unbearable and filled to the brim with dread over the fact that he would probably never become the royal sorcerer or get the family wand. In Goodwynâs eyes, Cedric was no more than a mistake that would never be worthy. And at this point, Cedric was starting to believe it.
The days he spent subjected to his fatherâs emotional neglect and constant taunting when he was tricked into messing up his spells had left him in an emotional limbo that he could not escape from. And who was he to not be affected by this tortuous treatment?
Soon he was counting down the days until he could get away from his toxic family in the castle and attend school at Hexley Hall.Â
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
One upside to Goodwyn, in Cedricâs opinion, was that he was just as skilled a sorcerer that he claimed he was. Cedric wasnât sure if this was something he should feel more exasperated about, but he knew that he couldnât deny the fact.Â
No matter how much he desired to demonize his father.
He had the ability to travel almost anywhere in the span of minutes and that was very convenient to a kid who had a very short attention span. And although he couldnât travel to vast distances, Goodwyn could certainly get to many places three times faster than others.Â
Which meant that Cedric could arrive at Hexley Hall faster than all of the other kids and have more time to explore his home for the next seven years.Â
In less than one hour, Cedric and his father had travelled from the Castle and made it to the gate of Hexley Hall. The clean exterior of the castle was only rivaled by the beautiful architecture that made it the prestigious academy it is.Â
Wasting no time leaving his father and rushing with his items to the front doors, Cedric was awe-struck by the fact that the inside was even more beautiful than the outside. Even inch of it was designed with a purpose and each piece of art was shown with pride and respect.Â
And when he saw the warm smiles of the teachers waiting in the hall, beckoning him in, Cedric knew that he could get used to his new home.Â
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After being toured around the castle by one of the teachers, as well as given a brief run down of its history, Cedric was left to his own accord and given a map so he wouldnât get lost. The map had an incantation that would show him his current location and bedroom, which he thought was very convenient. But he wasnât surprised, he knew how lost kids could get without proper guidance.
Looking down at the map after reciting the spell, he found a glowing mark on where his assigned dorm was located. Ironically enough, his was located with the rest of the sorcerers, witches, wizards, and warlocks.Â
Dinner commenced shortly after introductions were made and, after a bout of awkward shuffling, he found a quiet location to eat and then began his trek to his new dormitory.
By chanting the wandless spell to the map once again, an arrow led to his room in the lower regions of the castle where he began to unpack his hefty luggage.Â
After neatly organizing all of his ingredients, clothes, and books he quickly laid himself down on the comfortable mattress and ran through the events of the day. Although he still hadn't met any friends yet, he was able to get away from his father and analyze the place heâd be living in for a portion of his teenage life.Â
Putting aside those thoughts, he curled into a fetal position and fell into the most blissful sleep heâs had in years.Â

Looks about right, Cedric thought to himself as he made his way down to the Great Hall for breakfast.Â
Being somewhat challenged by wand-based spells, Cedric was relieved to see that he had potions for his first class; it was the one subject that he excelled at and was something that used to calm the nerves created by his domineering father.Â
So he had no doubt that he would start his days off good with the way things looked on his schedule.Â
What if no one likes me enough to partner up with me though? he asked himself while ringing his wrists.Â
I guess Iâll just have to take it one step at a timeâŚ.
With that thought in mind, he picked up his pace and quickly sat in a secluded spot. Looking around, he found that many people had already begun making friends. And, although this was a troubling notion given he had yet to meet anyone, he had hope that he would meet at leat (one) person that would approve of his company.Â
There has to be at least ONE person who will like me right? he questioned while gazing around the expansive room. Looking to the section where all the alchemy students sat, his eyes stopped on a girl with the most adorable (h/l) haircut and beautiful disposition.
Neptuneâs Nettles they were gorgeous...Hopefully I share some classes with her. Blushing, he looked back down at his breakfast and waited until it was time to head to his first class session of the year.Â
--------------------------------------------------
Nice! Cedric thought. Iâve got the first pick of any seat in the class!
Looking around, he found a spot that felt just right; it wasnât too far in the back and was just enough to be in the front and in a corner.Â
Smiling smugly, he sat down and began to unpack all the necessary items listed on the board in front of him.Â
Humming to himself, Cedric slowly stopped when he heard a series of footsteps approaching the classroom.Â
Thinking it was just the professor, given how early Cedric arrived, he kept his head down and decided to begin labelling the items in his journal.
That is, until he felt a tap on his shoulder. Whipping his head back, he stared dumbfounded at who was standing behind him: the girl from this morning!
Oh goodness, what if Iâm sitting in the spot she wants?? What if she has some sort of beef with me already?? Oh dear, Iâm gonna throw up..
This thought process continued until you let out a shy, "Do you mind if I sit next to you? I like the feel of this corner and you don't look half as bad as the rest of our class. Plus, I havenât had much luck making friends."
OH, he thought, Thatâs not what I was expecting. Trailing his eyes to yours, he searched for any sign of this being a lie but couldnât find any.Â
Softening his features, he opened his mouth and let out a:
"Really?....I suppose I don't mind."Â
He cautiously lifted his palm to you and said, "My names Cedric. I'm coming here to become one of the next Royal Sorcerers. What about you?"
With a firm grip, you shook his hand and settled down into your seat next to his. Watching you take out your schedule he heard you reply, "(y/n) Erwin! I'm studying to become the Royal Alchemist!"
Gripping your chin with an inquisitive look, you added a quick, "You wouldn't happen to be related to Goodyn the Great would you? I thought I recognized you at first, but I couldn't quite place from whereâŚ."
"UhmâŚ.Yeah, I am. D-did you live at the castle as well?"
Analyzing you, he tried to remember times in which he would have seen you, but none came to mind. Which wasnât surprising given he had all of his time stolen from either the prince or his father.Â
His thought process was halted though when you looked at him and said, "Yep. My dad's the Royal Astronomer, so we get to live with him at the castleâŚ..I've seen you around you knowâŚ.I always meant to say hi, but your dad and sister seemed to take up most of your time."
He rubbed his wrists anxiously and let out a, "yeah, they tend to do thatâŚ...but I digress. Do wanna compare schedules? I don't have any friends either, and y-you don't seem that bad as wellâŚ."
Looking down at the schedule you held loosely in your hand he noticed that it didn't seem so far off from his. You were both new to the school after all, so it made a tad bit of sense but luckily you both wouldn't have to split up very much for the next couple of years.
Schedule: Year One- Semester One

Surprisingly, it seemed as though you would be seeing a lot of each other. Which didn't seem to bother either of you that much. After confirming your new friendship and planning your day out together, you both set up the rest of your supplies and began your first class of the day.
----------------------
After cleaning up your respective area of the shared potions table when class ended, Cedric reminisced on how well the class had actually gone. Despite both of you being new, you and Cedric seemed to work in a sort of synchronized state. Even your teacher pointed out how good you two were together. This had made Cedric feel elated, it was the first praise he had gotten since leaving his father; that alone made him feel on top of the world. Even more so when he took into account that he gained a friend and intellectual equal.
Picking up the last of his mess, he gently put his bag over his shoulder and looked back to you waiting for him at the end of the desk.
You looked up and down and asked slowly, âWould you mind if I sat with you in our other classes as well today? Iâm not reallyâŚ..friends with anyone else here yet and we seem to make a good team. Plus, you seem really sweet.â
âIâd love to!,â he said in an excitable raised voice. His face broke out in a flustered blush at how desperate he sounded and quickly let out a, âI mean, if thatâs what you want to doâŚâ
To that, you chuckled and lightly punched his shoulder saying, âOf course I would you dork. Now let's hurry up so we can get the best seats in our next class."
--------------------------------------------------
After that day, the two of you were like two peas in a pod. Whenever you both had a class, were going somewhere, or ate, you were attached to the hip. Even teachers knew that, if they couldnât find one of you, they wouldnât find the other either as well.Â
For you two, there was never a subject left unstudied, never a prank left undone, and never a conversation left undiscussed.
It started off with you both teaming up in your shared classes, meeting for meals, and talking on the way to class, but soon branched off outside of school.Â
With coaching from you, and years of positive reinforcement on your end, Cedric had been coaxed out of his hesitant and neglected shell. All it took was one fond look and a caress of his hair from you and Cedric was turned into mush. The love you showed him through the years made him see that not everyone was out to get him. And not everyone was untrustworthy.Â
In summary, you brought hope in humanity back into his life. Something that he surely would have gone off the deep-end without.
To others, it seemed as though you had put him under a spell and transformed him into a new man; Cedric had never felt so confident in his life.
Especially since he never had anyone to support him. Until you, that isâŚâŚ
-------------------------------------------------------
Year 7 at Hexley Hall
Flicking your wand in a cursive âJâ formation while pointing your wand at the painted black stone, Cedric watched as you whispered, âAvifors.âÂ
Within seconds, the rock you had been pointing at morphed in size and began to take the shape of a sleek, black raven that immediately began pecking the tip of your index finger. It cocked its head at you and turned to inspect Cedric.
Cedric, gazing back at the bird, looked absolutely stunned at the sight of this seemingly never-heard-of spell and immediately began to shift his eyes to you and then raven. He wasnât sure where you had learned that, since you were only taking alchemy classes, but he was beyond interested in knowing.
âMerlinâs Beard! Did you make that spell up all on your own?â
âNot exactly,â you chuckled, âMy father and I worked for days to come up with the correct spell and paint concoction when I was a child. But it worked out, and now I have a way to create any type of bird to do my bidding!â
Setting his chin in his palm, he began to gaze fondly at the scene in front of him and think about all the things he has yet to learn about you.Â
âWould it be alright if you taught me that spell? I know itâs yours and everythingâŚ.. but itâs too bloody brilliant to be left unpracticed.â
âSure!.......I'll write it down for you by tomorrow.â
That confirmation made his heart swoon and a grin break out on his face. Yet another thing that would bring him closer to you. He knew that this spell was very special to you, so you being willing to show him it reassured him that you cared about him as much as he cared about you.
He was willing to do anything for you and perfecting your spell was one of the best ways he could think of to honor your spectacular intelligence.Â
-------------------------------------------
When night revealed itself and Cedric was tucked away trying to complete his assignment, he began to reminisce on the time he spent with you that day. He knew how special that spell was to you, and knew that you sharing it with him meant something. Right?
After all, you didnât share personal things like that with just anyone; even he wasnât privy to most of your private thoughts and feelings. Up until recently that is; you had begun to reveal more and more about yourself to him and, honestly, it made Cedric finally feel special and worthwhile. Which did NOT help the fact that he had been in love with you for the last five years.Â
And thought Cedric knew that he had to confess soon, he needed to know if you felt the same before he ruined whatever it was that you two had going on right now. If you didnât reciprocate his feelingsâŚ.that would make everything pretty awkwardâŚ.Which wouldnât help his situation out too much.
At least it would give him some closure....
He had been with you at every step of the way through your years at Hexley Hall, and he knew that you would be there for him for days to come. Working at Enchanciaâs castle wouldnât stop the bond that you both had formed over the years; it would only make it grow. Which it what he was hoping would help you develop feelings for him.
With each other until the end, thatâs what you both had promised one another.Â
âIf only she liked me back,â he thought to himself, gazing into the spell that he had been too distracted to work on for the last two hours.Â
With a huff of a laugh, he closed his textbook and laid down to go to sleep. Â
As ifâŚâŚâŚâŚ..

Notes: Oof, this took longer than I thought it would; sorry about that. I ended up making this into a three part series in order to pan out the story with a tad more detail, so more chapters will be posted soon! -------------------------------------------
Being born the daughter of Master Erwin, there was never a doubt that your destiny would be written in the stars. His blatant adoration for the universe beyond Earthâs doorstep had been clear to you from an early age and, given you were his only child, he desired nothing more than to pass all of his knowledge down to you.Â
The only issue that arose with that desire was that your focus wasnât entirely directed towards space; your ambitions were more...Earth-based.Â
Completely unbothered by this fact though, your father set out on a journey to find the most fitting subject he could study with you. Because, in his eyes, your interests were his interests; and having a relationship with his daughter was far more important than any of the mysteries the vast and never-ending universe could hold.Â
The search didnât take as long as he expected though, because your likes and dislikes fit surprisingly well with a subject he was very familiar with in his schoolboy years: Alchemy.Â
By interpretation, Alchemy is a âsort of terrestrial astronomyâ that deals with all sorts of human and worldly aspects. Which fit both of your interests to a âT,â thankfully.
When that was decided, he began to introduce you to the magical world of alchemy and what it entailed. Each day he would offer new texts on Alchemy, Magic, and the universe as well as provide fresh insights on the universeâs effects on the human body. What filled you with the most intrigue though, was how you could use the items the world offered you in order to heal, change, and create other living organisms. So much so that you ended up working together to create a spell and potion that turns rocks into ravens.
Sadly, your passion for contributing to the world around you was so blinding that you completely forgot about how you would go about implementing that knowledge and passion.
That is, until you had been told you were to be sent off to a real academy by your mother. The one place you did not want to end up going.
That fact had left you slightly heartbroken since you could no longer spend your days endlessly pouring into Alchemical books and having passionate discussions with your father, but excited you with the prospect of a proper educationâŚâŚ.One where you would have to attend a school that had none of your friends. One where you would have to spend all of your days and nights toiling over the assignments your teachers assigned to you. One at Hexley Hall.

After two hours of travelling to the esteemed âAcademy of Wizardry,â you had begun to feel stiff and in dire need of a decent stretch. Even if it meant standing outside in the chill September wind.Â
At this point though, you were willing to do anything to rid your body of its mental and physical stress. Up until now, the only thing that kept you distracted from the bile your anxiety had been threatening to dispel from your body was reading the book your father gave you: âDistilling Natureâs Secrets: The Sacred Art of Alchemy.â But you had already finished that in the first hour of the ride and were now left with the gnawing feeling of dread that came with being thrown into an unfamiliar environment; one where you wouldnât have the comforting words of your father to calm you down.
Before you could drive yourself further into a sense of dread, the sight of a tower looming over a hill stole all of your attention.
Pulling yourself to the carriageâs window, you saw the place that you would be spending the rest of your childhood at: Hexley Hall.Â
The school that would teach you everything you wanted to know about the ancient art of alchemy.Â
Its windows glistened with evening dew and its structure held a contrast you were not familiar with until now. Growing up in Enchanciaâs castle, you had only known modern, sleek, and upbeat architecture. Hexley Hall though, defied all of those tropes. It possessed intricate designs, a soulfully picturesque look, and an eerie aesthetic. One that you felt you could get used to. Especially if the inside held a matching look.
-------------------------------------------
After making a swift landing, you thanked your coachman, acquired your luggage, and began to make your way towards the crowd of fellow newcomers.Â
The entire entrance to the school was bustling with excited new students, and their confused glances and demeanors were beginning to ease your anxious mind. Maybe everyone else was as 'in the dark' as you were...Maybe you werenât alone in your strife.
That discombobulation you all possessed didnât last long though, and soon enough you were all ushered in by what seemed to be one of the teachers. After being brought into the Great Hall for a brief rundown of how the school worked and who would be teaching you all, schedules were floated to their respective owners and maps of the school were provided to each student.Â
Looking down at the map, each child had a glowing mark on where their assigned dorm was located. Ironically enough, yours was in the area dedicated to potioneers, alchemists, and other magicians dedicated to the physical arts.Â
Dinner commenced shortly after introductions were made and, after a bout of awkward shuffling, you found a quiet location to eat and began your trek to your new dormitory.
By chanting a wandless spell to the map, an arrow led to your room where you began to unpack.Â
Given you didnât bring many items besides books and clothes, you quickly laid yourself down on the comfortable mattress and ran through the events of the day. Although you still hadn't met any friends yet, you did gain insight into the place you'd be spending the rest of your teenage life at.
Putting aside those thoughts, you curled around your pillow and fell into a blissful sleep.Â
-------------------------------------------
Looks about right, you thought to yourself as you made your way down to the Great Hall for breakfast. Although you would have preferred Alchemy as the starting class of your day, potions was definitely a good choice as well.Â
What bothered you more than the order or your classes though, was who would have to interact with during these assigned classes.Â
But thatâs a problem for later, you thought to yourself as you devoured the first of many breakfasts at the Wizarding School of Enchancia.Â
-------------------------------------------
Being the first person to class, you had the advantage of picking the best seat in the classroom. At least, that was what you hoped to happen until a mop of multi colored hair caught your eye.Â
Although you didnât mind the place he had sat in before you could choose, he was sitting in the spot next to the one you DID prefer.Â
that doesnât matter you thought, maybe he could be my first friendâŚ.He couldnât be that bad could he?
You decided to try your luck and hesitantly tapped the young boy's right shoulder. Whipping his head around he gave you a questioning look that you assumed meant: "??? Can I help you?"
"Do you mind if I sit next to you? I like the feel of this corner and you don't look half as bad as the rest of our class."
His startled, yet hopeful, look gave you the impression he didn't get approached much. Let alone get told that he looked welcoming.Â
Despite that though, his face softened and he said,Â
"Really?....I suppose I don't mind."Â
He cautiously lifted his palm to you and said, "My names Cedric. I'm coming here to become the next Royal Sorcerer. What about you?"
With a firm grip, you shook his hand and settled down into your seat. Taking out your schedule you replied, "(y/n) Erwin! I'm studying to become the Royal Alchemist!"
Gripping your chin with an inquisitive look, you added a quick, "You wouldn't happen to be related to Goodwyn the Great would you? I thought I recognized you at first, but I couldn't quite place from whereâŚ."
"UhmâŚ.Yeah, I am. D-did you live at the castle as well?"
You fiddled with your papers until they were straightened properly and looked at him, saying, "Yep.
I don't have any friends either, and you don't seem that bad as wellâŚ."
Looking down at the schedule he gripped in his hand, you noticed that it didn't seem so far off from yours. You were both new to the school after all, so it made a tad bit of sense. Luckily you wouldn't have to split up very much for the next couple of years.
Surprisingly, it seemed as though you would be seeing a lot of each other. Which didn't seem to bother either of you that much. After confirming your new friendship and planning your day out together, you both set up your supplies and began your first class of the day.
-------------------------------------------
After cleaning up your respective area of the shared potions table, you reminisced on how well the class had actually gone. Despite both of you being new, you and Cedric seemed to work in a sort of synchronized state. Even your teacher pointed out how good you two were together. This had made you both proud, but you noticed that it had made Cedric especially happy.Â
Given the way that he had acted and responded to your questions, you inferred that his home lifeâŚ..probably wasn't that great. Especially if the tiniest amount of praise made his day ten times brighter.
Which is why you had made a vow to yourself that you would do everything in your power to make him realize his self worth. After all, not everyone had a supportive father and family like you did.Â
Picking up the last of your mess, you threw your bag over your robbed shoulder and asked, âWould you mind if I sat with you in our other classes as well today? Iâm not reallyâŚ..friends with anyone else here yet and we seem to make a good team. Plus, you seem really sweet.â
âIâd love to!,â he said in an excitable raised voice. His face broke out in a flustered blush at how desperate he sounded and quickly let out a, âI mean, if thatâs what you want to doâŚâ
To that, you chuckled and lightly punched his shoulder saying, âOf course I would you dork. Now let's hurry up so we can get the best seats in our next class."
-------------------------------------------
After that day, the two of you were like two peas in a pod.
-------------------------------------------
(Year 7 at Hexley Hall)
Flicking your wand in a cursive âJâ formation, you pointed your wand at the painted black stone and whispered, âAvifors.âÂ
Within seconds, the rock morphed in size and began to take the shape of a sleek, black raven.Â
Pecking the tip of your index finger, it cocked its head at you and turned to inspect Cedric.
You blushed and stared down at your feet. Showing him you and your fatherâs spell had made you nervous at first, thinking he would find it childish compared to his studies. But his unwavering attention in it showed you that maybe it wasnât that bad after allâŚ..
-------------------------------------------
After that day, you knew that you were in love with Cedric. He had been with you at every step of the way through your years at Hexley Hall, and you knew that he would be there for you for days to come. Working at Enchanciaâs castle wouldnât stop the bond that you both had formed over the years. Especially since you two would be working close together.Â
With each other until the end, thatâs what you both had promised one another.Â
âIf only it was in a romantic sense,â you thought to yourself, gazing up at the great expanse in the night sky.Â
With a huff of a laugh, you kicked the rocks in front of you.Â
As ifâŚâŚâŚâŚ..
Pairing: Cedric the Sorcerer X Wormwood! Reader
Word Count: Roughly 1,516 words
Warnings: None; just yearning and fluff
Notes: Gif, photo, poem, and characters are not mine; only the story is mine! The poem is âIf only She Knewâ by Kiara Wilson and, honestly, I think it fit pretty well for the story :) The idea was one I found on @merlins-mushroomsâ blog that focused on the reader being Cedricâs familiar instead of Wormwood and them being able to switch between their animal and human form. I had a little bit of time and wanted to write, so I decided why not? It seems more like headcanons than a story but what can you do lmao. Hope you guys enjoy, feedback is always appreciated!
Growing up as an animal-based shape shifter, life had been both difficult and easy going for you. The magical gift you had to change into any animal at will provided you with opportunities and freedom not many people ever got to possess. Especially when it came to sneaking around and getting away with things
What made it difficult though, is that you had immense difficulty finding a job that suited you. Although you had attended Hexley Hall to learn to control and gain your magical abilities, it ended up being something you just didn't want the responsibility of doing. Â
Something that you did like about attending there though, was someone who had grown to be quite dear to you over the years: Cedric.
Cedric and you had started off pretty rocky, given you different backgrounds and his stifling parents, but you eventually learned to create a happy medium. After the whole fiasco with his older sister and his falling out with Roland, Cedric ended up not having many people to fully rely on. In fact, he had no one to rely on. That is, until he met you.
You two would work on spells together, duel against each other, rant about your problems to one another, and even began providing physical affection to each other. One form of which, was when you would shift into a stark black cat and curl up in his arms underneath you guysâ favorite tree outside the school grounds.
For Cedric though, his favorite form for you was the raven you would transform into when wanting some alone time or freedom. After all, one of the few things that you adored above all things was your independence. He thought you looked adorable and, after an embarrassing incident that you have sworn him into secrecy about, he dubbed your new nickname âWormwood.â
When you both began to creep closer to your graduation date though, your time together became thinner and more tense. When your studies started to wrap up, it became clear that you both had to pick your career soon. To Cedric, that choice was easy. His father had been Roland Iâs Royal Sorcerer, and it was only natural that he took his place when the king retired. For you though, choosing a career that would define the rest if your life caused you so much stress that even Greylock had noticed. Which said a lot lmao But, like always, Cedric was there to ease your troubles. Since you both wanted to stay together, but there was no need for a second royal sorcerer, Cedric offered the idea that you become his familiar.Â
WhichâŚ..wasn't actually a bad idea. In fact, it offered every bit of freedom, fun, and intellectual interest that you had desired in a would-be dream job.Â
After crushing Cedric in a bone shattering hug, you quickly made your way to the schoolâs office and began the preparation of registering as a familiar. lmao, weâre just gonna act like it works that way cause I have no idea what else to do
--------------------------------------------
Moving to the castle had been an easier transition than you had anticipated, but you assumed that was more your doing than Cedricâs given the fact that people seemed to greet him with more suspicion than warmth.Â
An unexpected advancement though, was when you were told that you both had to share sleeping quarters. Not that it really mattered that much; you and Cedric had slept near each other before when bunking and traveling at Hexley Hall, and this time would be no different.Â
At least....to you it would. The fact that you had grown up to be rather beautiful made you sleeping in the same quarters rather awkward for Cedric. And though he could hide his affection relatively well, he still slipped up here and there and was caught throwing you yearning glances throughout the day.Â
(Cedric was just glad that you had separate beds, cause he knew he wouldnât be able to handle it if you slept less than ten feet away from him.)
Dynamic wise, you both worked together with so much ease it seemed as though you shared a collective mind. Which, in a way, you did. The only downside to knowing each other so well though, was the fact that you were adopting one anotherâs personality traits. Cedric, of course, had little downsides, but you were finding yourself becoming a tad more awkward then you remember originally being. But that just made you even more cuter in Cedricâs eyes. Which didnât help his repressed love for you that he had harbored for the last fifteenish years he had known you.
--------------------------------------------
It wasn't until Sofia joined the castle and started to warm up to Cedric that he let it slip that he had the most embarrassing crush on you though. Sofia, of course, thought that this was the most adorable thing in the whole world and made it her lifeâs mission to help you both get together before it was too late.Â
--------------------------------------------
After sending you away on âwork-relatedâ jobs, Cedric and Sofia began to brainstorm the best possible ways to reveal his feelings and have them reciprocated. This ended with Cedric bringing up the idea of doing it through one of your more favorable interests: Poetry.
When you guys were still young and spent most of your time underneath the great Elm tree at Hexley Hall, you two had jokingly picked up the hobby of writing mushy and cringe inducing poetry. Which meant that his admission of feelings would be even more meaningful and heartfelt. That would definitely aid him in his and Sofiaâs plans.
--------------------------------------------
While he began writing his love poem to you, Sofia began to set up the location in which he would proclaim his love. With the help of a few animal companions, Sofia had successfully set up a romantic setting in a secluded area of the palace gardens when she saw Cedric leading you down the pathway towards a singular bench.
You were wearing a deep purple pantsuit and, for a minute, Sofia realized that you complemented eachother surprisingly well.
After quickly hiding behind a bush, she got as close as she could without being found.
Grasping both of your hands in his as he stood in front of your seated form, Cedric began the start of confession speech.
â(y/n), to say that youâve had a tremendous impact on my life would be a tragically large misconception. Unlike everyone else in my life, you have stuck in my corner through thick and thin and have remained, through it all, my closest companion and friend.â
At this point, he began to nervously shift around and cast his eyes down to his polished black shoes.Â
âThe thing is though, that my feelings as of late have changed. And, to help convey themâŚ.I sort ofâŚ.w-wrote you a poem.â
You let out a snort to this, but looked at him tenderly as if to say âcontinue.â
Coughing into his fist, Cedric pointed his chin upwards as he sat to face you and started to recite his hastily written poem.
âShe has her own special way
Of turning around my terrible day.
She makes all the bad things go away
The second that she says hey.
And when I look into her eyes,
I see pure beauty with no disguise.
Just a glance at her makes my heartbeat rise.
I know for a fact that these feelings aren't lies.
If only she knew
How much my love for her grew,
Maybe, just maybe, we could start something new,
And then I'd never feel blue.
And if beauty were inches, she'd go on for miles.
I'd better catch her before I go out of style.
I'm going to let my heart be my dial
So I can tell her what I've been feeling for a while.â
After finishing, Cedric nervously looked up at you to see what reaction you would show to what he had just revealed. Gazing at your eyes, he finally noticed the rim of tears that surrounded the lower part of your eyes and began to panic.
âOh no, was that too much? Did...did I just ruin everything? Merlinâs Mushrooms! This always happens,â his tender look deflated into one of distress as he put his head in his hands and quickly turned away from you. It wasnât until he heard what, at first, sounded like crying that he hesitantly gazed up at you. Analyzing your facial features, he noticed that your face was not scrunched up in disgust, but rather into one of joy and laughter. You let out an airy giggle and reached to cradle his cheeks in your palms.Â
âOh Ceddy, that was the mushiest and most cringe inducing poem youâve written yet,â you said with a smile.
âIâm just glad that this one is about me.â
âDoes that mea-âÂ
It was at that point that you connected both of your lips and started to slowly initiate a deep and affectionate kiss. Sofia could be heard squealing behind one of the bushes across from you guysâ bench and that only made you giggle softly against Cedricâs slightly chapped lips. Which made the bumbling sorcerer swoon and lightly bring you into a hug,
Needless to say, that situation led to you both getting real familiar with each other. Only, this time, it lead to one of the most fulfilling chapters of both of your lives.
Hereâs a list of the type of content that Iâm allowing to be requested for time being (until my no thoughts head empty lookin brain gets its crap together lmao).
