You can hurt me all you wish

You can hurt me without care,

Without any comfort to be there

Hurt me past my breaking point,

And I will hold onto the pain

Simply cause it came from you,

Cause it's something of you I can call mine.

When I was young

Alone in my time of need

An angel came to me

He offered to be my shield

If I could show him selfless beauty

So I became an artist

When I got a bit older

In my time of need

I called for the Monster

He offered to keep me sane

if I could help those in need

as an exchange

So I became a listener

When I was at my breaking point

The devil spoke to me

He offered me his silver tongue

In exchange of letting him feel loved

So I became a refuge for all

Then I met you

And i saw tears in your eyes

Came a voice

A feeling blooming

I couldn't deny

If you are to be the moon in the sky

I'd be the darkness by your side

Always in sight but never in reach

So I became a beast

A wolf longing for you for all time

The other three turned to you too

As the world lost meaning

And now you are gone

And we hate everything

You are my moon. My light in life that is nothing but a dark night. Even when I can't see you. I know you are there. There is no repaying that.

Tainted Water

Deep in the boreal forests of Northern Alberta the Great Tree stood for hundreds of years and was home to a small pack of gray wolves for generations. The Great Tree, at the heart of the forest, was strong and healthy, giving protection to Keno and his pack.  Many smaller animals and birds also found shelter in the Great Tree.  There was always plenty of food and fresh water for the wolves and all the other animals. Winters were harsh and summers short, but the pack, lead by Keno, always managed to find enough for all. Keno was the wisest of the pack leaders in all the boreal forest. His eyes were ice-blue, piercing out from a coat of jet black fur. “Have you noticed how the strangely quiet the forest seems, Keno?” Asked Sasha.   Sasha, was Keno’s right hand wolf in charge of safety and security.  She was a large 10 year old gray wolf. Her sleek, silvery gray coat shimmered in the moonlight.  She had noticed other strange things happening further from the Great Tree, but the stillness was the first sign that things were changing so close to their home.   Always wise and calm, Keno replied, “ Yes, there are changes happening that I don’t understand.  Perhaps it is time for a meeting of the pack”” Early the next morning, Keno and Sasha gathered the pack for the early fall hunt.  The winds were mild and cool but every wolf could sense the bitter bite of winter soon approaching.  Caribou are usually found by the rivers, and the Rockwater River was known for the gathering of herds. Keno led the hunting pack to the river.  There were no caribou. Keno sniffed the grass trying to find their scent and soon found a very faint trace leading upstream. The pack continued upstream following the scent of the caribou. Keno started to notice the farther upstream they went the more brown the grass became. This was unusual for the grass to be this brown even when it was fall. The air smelled foul.. The only noise was wolf paws padding on the brown grass and the peaceful sound of the river flowing against the pebbles and rocks. “Keno I see something,” Sasha whispered with a worried tone in her voice. ` Keno looked in confusion at what he saw. A caribou lay dead by the river bank. Slowly and cautiously, he crept toward it.. Keno looked at the young caribou and saw no wounds on the body. It was strange that it would have died at a young age with no signs of injury or starvation. Keno ordered the pack to head back to their den by the Great Tree . He was still confused at what was happening. Sasha stood beside him as they both stared at the dead caribou. “I'm going to have a drink before we go back” said Sasha as she anxiously moved past the dead caribou toward the shore of the Rockwater River.  Sasha’s paws sunk into the soft shore as she stooped to drink the cold water. Keno waited for her to finish before leading them back to their home. By noon the next day, Keno went over to Sasha’s den and found her still lying on the ground. She looked like she had no energy and her eyes were cloudy. “Sasha! Are you ok?! What happened?!” Keno sounded very panicked and worried. “I feel so dizzy...I just woke up feeling like this” Sasha sighed weakly. Keno paced around her den thinking of what to do. He didn't understand why Sasha was sick all of a sudden. He thought about what could have caused this. “Maybe it was the water from the river?” keno asked nervously.  Drinking from the Rockwater River was the only thing that Sasha had done differently than Keno.  It could also explain the mystery of the dead caribou.  As difficult as it was to leave Sasha, Keno knew he had to go back up the Rockwater River.   “I will be back, Sasha.”  and he left her. That evening, Keno gathered together the entire pack to choose a small group of his best hunters and two of his best scouts, Jynx and Timber.  He appointed Luna as his next in command to accompany him, as Sasha would not be travelling with them.  They left the next day just before dawn. On their journey upstream they had to cross into another pack’s territory.  The alpha was called Shade.  He was a proud, strong leader and was known to be very aggressive toward trespassing wolves.  Keno had lost a young one last year when he journeyed too far from the Great Tree into Shade’s territory  Fortunately, there was no sign of Shade or his pack members on this day. Still, he moved through with great caution and stealth. It wasn't long before Keno, Luna and the pack started to notice that the grass along the river was turning a similar brown that they had seen earlier.  Not the kind of brown that fall brings to the land, there was a tinge of gray was present. Keno had never seen this nor heard of anything like it.  Continuing on, they found three more dead caribou, a fox, and small birds along the shore of the Rockwater River.  There were no wounds or signs of struggle.  The water itself had begun to give off a sour stench.  Still worried about Sasha, Keno warned the others not to drink from the river. The two scouts, Timber and Jynx, that Keno had sent ahead came bounding down stream at a full run.  “ Quickly, follow us!  We have found a large structure behind a barrier made of strange iron wood,”  Timber gasped nearly out of breath.” Keno, Luna and the pack, silently and quickly ran behind the scouts as they led them further upstream.  Around a tight bend in the river, they all came to a sudden stop. What Keno saw through the edge of the trees were two huge pillars spitting smoke.  There were strange tunnels leading out of the bottom of the cylinders in many directions.  One from each pillar led to the Rockwater River.  There were dead trees all around and the grass was all gray.  The same gray that Keno and the pack had seen further downstream.  The color of the water coming out of each tunnel and pouring into the river was grayish-green, running slow and thick. The forest in the area was very silent.  Everything seemed dead.  There was no sign of life.   Without a sound, Keno turned the pack back into the forest and headed downstream.  He was now desperate to get back to the Great Tree and check on Sasha and tell her what they had discovered about the river and strange structure spewing death.  The pack ran to the edge of Shade’s territory. They only hesitated a moment then continued on.  Suddenly, growling in front of them, Shade stood fiercely, blocking the way home. “How dare you trespass on my territory!” snarled Shade! “You have to leave, it is not safe here anymore!” Keno growled assertively. Angrily, Shade snapped back, “The only one who is not safe here is you!” Keno barked back, “The river is sick!  All the prey are dying!  We have seen a strange structure upstream spewing foul water into the river.  We have seen the dead animals!  You and your pack will die if you drink the water and you will starve from lack of prey!” “LIAR! You are just trying to take over my pack and my territory!”  Without warning and with great ferocity, Shade and his hunters attacked. Keno, Luna and the small group of wolves battled bravely but Keno knew they were greatly outnumbered.  Although Keno was the smaller alpha, he pinned Shade to the ground long enough to startle the rest of Shade’s pack.  Hackles raised, and with all his strength Keno bit deep into Shade’s neck. Keno shouted to his pack, “Run!” Luna knew exactly what Keno had done and led the pack at a full run down the river out of Shade’s territory.  It wasn’t until they had nearly reached the Great Tree when they realized Keno had not followed.  Their leader had given them time to escape and sacrificed himself to save them. All through the night they stood guard to be sure that Shade did not attack.  They would be ready with the full pack to protect their home. Soon there was rustling in the bushes. The pack were instantly alert and ready to fight! Then Luna howled, “Who goes there?  Show yourself!” A wounded, limping, and exhausted Keno came out of the bushes. The pack was overjoyed to see their leader alive! They rushed over to Keno and licked his wounds and made sure he had food and fresh, clean water.   “What happened after we ran? “ asked Luna. “All that matters is that I am alive and here,” was all that Keno would say before he fell into a heavy sleep.  Luna stood guard over him the entire night.  She chose to tell him in the morning about Sasha. The moment Keno woke, he rushed to Sasha’s den.  Luna was there and stopped him before he entered, “.She was gone Keno, when we arrived.  We searched for her and found her body not far from the Great Tree.  I am sorry, Keno.” Keno raised his head and started howling.  All the other wolves joined in until the air was filled with the sound of sorrow and sadness.  Keno felt broken at the loss of his old friend but he knew there was a darkness moving into the forest and their home and that they must all leave the Great Tree before Shade had time to regroup and attack.  By dusk, the pack was gone. They traveled and searched for months all through the winter and into late spring before they found a new home far from the poisonous land and Shade’s pack.  It was a big valley with rivers and plenty of forest.  There was an abundance of prey and clean water.  There were enough caves to build safe and secure dens for each pair to raise their wolf pups. Many months past and all was still peaceful in the valley for Keno and his pack. The wolf pups were growing strong and healthy. This made the wolf pack larger and added numbers to the hunting packs.  They never thought about their old home near the Great Tree or of Shades pack attacking Keno..  They did not want to remember the strange structure and the poison water and what it had done to Sasha. It was early winter, a fresh glimmering layer of snow blanketed the ground.  Luna was on watch standing on the lookout rock at the highest point near the den.  She could easily see to the edge of their territory.  The river wound its way through the valley and Luna could make out the new ice forming along its shores.  The hoar frost clung to the branches of the tall trees reflecting the sun’s rays.  Across the valley Luna could just make out the form of a lone wolf walking into their territory.  Luna used a familiar low howl to signal that there was an intruder. Immediately Keno gathered a band of hunters and guards and headed off in the direction of the intruder.  This was the first sign of any other wolves in their new territory since they had arrived.  Keno ordered his two strongest hunters to pick of the scent. In no time they caught up to the lone wolf.  As Keno got closer, the scent was familiar, Shade!  Keno crept closer, crawling low with hackles raised.  Something was wrong.  Keno could only smell fear.  Shade feared nothing.  There was no scent of the rest of Shade’s pack. There was movement in the thicket just ahead. “What are you doing here, Shade? Where are your hunters hiding.  You don’t belong here! Leave now or we will kill you.”  Keno growled with authority. Shade slunk out of the bushes.  His once thick, silver gray coat was now matted and filthy.  His ribs were showing from lack of food.  His bright eyes were now dull and sunken.  Stumbling forward, Shade quivered, “ You were right. My pack is gone, all dead.  They drank from the river.  The prey we hunted was sick.  Many of our pups were still at birth.” Keno remained silent as his pack looked at their alpha uneasily.  They knew Shade was untrustworthy, but he looked broken.  Suddenly, Keno gave a low growl and assertively lunged forward.  Shade bent down low to the ground in full submission without ever looking up.  This was a clear sign that Shade was no threat.  Keno knew Shade would die in the winter without the support of a pack.  While it was extremely rare for a lone alpha wolf to ever be accept to enter another pack, Keno had compassion for his rival.   The pain of thinking about Sasha allowed Keno to connect to Shade’s loss. In the days to follow Shade told Keno that the Great Tree was gone.  Men and machines ripped its roots from the ground.  The Rockwater River was depleted, nearly dry.  More structures were created where the trees once sheltered and protected the packs.  Keno knew that the land was changing and the way of the wolf was in danger.  Although they had traveled far from the Great Tree, Keno knew one day the destruction would come to the valley.  For now, they had peace.

Suri

Suri

Habitat: greenwood Forest

Age limit:39 (since it's fake)

The coat color can be: brown, black, tan with black splotches or flipflop

It has very thick fur but it's never under -7 where they are most found. They have this very thick fur to keep them very very warm since they are extremely sensitive to cold weather and can die in the matter of hours

They are wild animals but are very protective of people/pack members or animals they have a bond with.

With months and months of training or if you raise it from birth it can be a ""house" pet they don't need lots of space they make do with what they have.

They have huge, large feet, when they walk they "stomp" and make lots of noise to scare off any predators they might encounter, though they can fight off most predators they dont want to waste their energy just in case they need it (they are very smart)

The Suri can go up to 1 year without eating and only having water since most places they lived rarely had food so they adapted to the surroundings

They are native to north America and are usually found there but they can be spotted all over the globe (no cold places tho) but they are more common to be found in Minnesota and Missouri, Mississippi

They have tusks like a sabor tooth, and are about 10 feet and 16 feet standing on its hind legs. The suri's diet usually consists of fish, rabbits, and deer, It will also eat Berry's!

They are very stealthy and slick so their prey doesn't know they are coming. They can jump up to 7feet!

It Seems Like All Of The Resources I Can Easily Find Online For Identifying Wolves Vs Dogs Are Either

It seems like all of the resources I can easily find online for identifying wolves vs dogs are either massive and difficult to understand without prior knowledge of the subject, or extremely bare-bones and miss a lot of key information. I tried to hit a comfortable middle-ground. (sorry if it’s a little wordy) This tutorial is made as a reference for drawing, so everything but purely visual differences between dogs and wolves have been left out. I’ve been wanting to make this for a while now, so I’m glad I finally sat down and did it! **EDIT** When it comes to the section on wolfdogs, please take it with a grain of salt. With something as complicated as genetics, they are of course, not going to be as simple as I make it seem. What features different levels of content can display, and even which percentages designate which levels of content are often hotly debated within the wolfdog community. At this point I’ve elected not to change the image set itself because: a. it’s a huge pain in the ass b. this is a tutorial for beginning artists. It’s meant to be a hugely simplified version of the topic, and I’ve stated clearly that it is NOT to be used in real-world identification. ((Huge thanks to yourdogisnotawolf. who’s blog inspired me to make this and for digging up that amazing picture of the wolf/lab mix))
