"The problem with trying to be historically accurate, is that history doesn't care"
So much of the time we think of historical cultures as being very uniform, but people have always been weird, and our expectations of past behaviour don't always match the reality!
Real observations since I started wearing a wizard hat daily:
- Brim is so wide that I stay BONE DRY taking walks in the rain
- Brim can be positioned to block the sun from ever getting in my eyes AND keeping it off the back of my neck
- The pointed top part creates an air pocket, keeping my head from getting hot or squishing my hair as it might in a ball cap
- Hat can easily be pulled down over the tips of my ears without looking dumb, protecting them from wind chill
- Strangers say they like my hat, giving me the chance to tell them that I am a wizard
- When you’re wearing a wizard hat, ALL OTHER FASHION CHOICES become secondary, allowing you to branch out with style
Embrace ego death. Stay protected from all elements. Wear a wizard hat.
i learned about Tim Wong who successfully and singlehandedly repopulated the rare California Pipevine Swallowtail butterfly in San Francisco. In the past few years, he’s cultivated more than 200 pipevine plants (their only food source) and gives thousands of caterpillars to his local Botanical Garden (x)
I'm not Catholic in the, "burn the gays-christian nationalism-close-minded-fire and brimstone" way. More so in the, "to study any field of science is to study Gods creation and is religious devotion." way.
Losing my mind over the gospel of Luke being like “they wrapped his body in linen cloth and laid him in a tomb” after the beginning of the story being “they wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger” like
I’m absolutely feral
It might be my childhood trauma speaking, but the idea of someone seeing the darkest, most vicious side of you and still finding you not just loveable but diabolically sexy makes me fucking swoon.
People ask me how I can be queer and Christian at the same time and the answer is that I’m just that cool and epic
Seriously though I just do it. Jesus never said it’s illegal for me to be this cool. Religious queer people in general often get asked by faith communities and the queer community how or why they do that and the answer is: What are you, a cop?
