why do I keep getting followed and messaged by accounts with p*rn, they heard teenage female and went 🌞 key demographic!!!!!!
one of my best friends got her results today!! she's going to the top uni in the country for her course, I'm so happy for her but I'm also really sad she'll be going so far, it also happens to be the same place I'm aspiring to go. I think reality is starting to hit me in terms of where I am and what I should be doing to get there, the work she put in is no joke
because sometimes watching a movie about the undead can make life feel worth living again. Warm Bodies (2013) takes place in an apocalyptic world filled with your typical brain-eating walking dead. Starring Nicholas Hoult and Teresa Palmer as R and Julie, ) the horror/romance (a combination of genres that sounded quite odd to me at first but works so well within the movie) takes on a love story in a comedic, dark way I haven't seen before. I first took interest in this movie simply because of Nicholas Hoult after seeing him in Skins as Tony Stonem but I ended up really liking this movie for a lot more than just the casting. If you haven't already caught on by the obvious character naming, the story is loosely based off of Romeo and Juliet and does well in referencing Shakespeares' tragedy here and there, within not only the obvious obstacles of love between zombies and humans but the persona of Julies' father and more significantly, the balcony scene - which was by far my favourite although I won't describe too much as I'd like you to watch it for yourself. In terms of writing, the dialogue and narration are witty and fun, R's inner monologue was one of the most enjoyable parts of the film, and I loved the contrast between his thoughts and physical actions. I also liked the added background, the reason as to why the undead act how they do, eat what they do, and so on. Subtle details across the board are so well done (To give an example or two: R not blinking until the water scene, colors becoming more saturated the more he becomes human) and the visuals are so damn pleasing. The soundtrack too, makes the movie what it is, after watching I was listening to Midnight City on repeat. Although not as typical, it's one of the best romances I've seen.
I hope you liked this post! be sure to let me know your thoughts and i'll be sure to take your feedback into account when writing next time! I thought I'd post this one a bit earlier than the others, and depending on the response I'll adjust my writing. until next time! Amina
Sunday 6th August 1:35am writing this a bit late because im in a bit of a slump.
starting off the month with a bang, i went a bit of an adventure during homestudy (not very studyblr of me) and ventured off to birmingham with my bestfriend! it was sooo cool, we didn't explore everything, just bullring and the station, as well as the highstreet? i think its called (im really tired, forgive the lackluster writing). the highlight of the day was definitely trying wingstop, we each picked a flavour, lemon pepper and spicy korean bbq with cajun fries and... oh. my. g o d. i can understand the craze because it's been a month and my cravings have not stopped. lets just say the many many many runs to kfc and other fast food places can no longer satisfy my hunger. i bought a ton of clothes for the upcoming school year too! multiple ruched tops in brown, cream and pink, a long pink midi skirt, a brown mockneck sweater and a beige one too! oh and a cable knit pink cardigan (if you can't tell i like pink lolol) school ended on the 17th? i think it was, which is the wrap up of year 12. as far as the last day of school can go, i think mine was really good! they set up a bouncy castle, sumo wrestling and more in the school gym and it was so fun! i hadn't intended on actually using or trying anything but i ended up being spontaneous. i can gladly say that i crushed my opponent in sumo wrestling 3-0 so fear me. i grabbed oodles with two of my friends, which btw if you haven't tried. you NEED to. its to die for. udon noodles reign supreme. since the holiday started i haven't done much, mainly watching shows and movies like 25 21, and the second season of the summer i turned pretty - yi jin and jeremiah 4 lyfe. i promise the 7 days 7 movies series will be out soon! til next time! Amimi
coming up soon! a series of properly written reviews ( to satisfy your needs for some properly thought out content ) movies i'm thinking of right now: warm bodies the truman show edward scissor hands isle of dogs summer of 84 hugo the goldfinch this isn't the official list, just some stuff i've jotted off the top of my head, i want to include a variety of genres and such though (in particular maybe another animated movie) so if you have any suggestions then be sure to comment and let me know! until then, Amimi

yes it does.
sorry for the lack of posts in may, it was a mess and nothing was very new from april so i thought it wouldn't be very notable to write about.
this month has been a whirl wind of events. most notably, i applied and got into a summer residential at the University of South Wales, i'm afraid because of my parents and their safety concerns, i won't be able to attend. i also got tickets to an open day at a film school in London! whether or not i'll be able to attend in July is still quite unclear.
i also went on a bus and travelled outside of my own city for the first time, which was super, super stressful but also really exciting! even if it was a village only 20 minutes away, the friend i was supposed to meet slept in that day and had me bawling on the empty street before grabbing the first bus i saw and hoping i was going the right way. another friend from mosque ended up taking me out to try Baskin Robbins (their chocolate brownie fudge ice cream is to die for)
if there's anything i'm going to always remember from this month though, it has to be my first time at the theatre to see WICKED! at The Apollo Victoria.
I can't even begin to describe it, every detail was on point, the staging felt so real it was surreal, it felt more like a movie than a live performance with all the effects and fantastical props (especially the Wizards giant puppet) and costuming (the emerald city costumes were my favorite) the *minor spoilers* love triangle was very unexpected when it was first introduced, I like how perfectly the narrative fit with the original story of The Wizard of Oz instead of twisting it. Defying Gravity gave me goosebumps. if i had to have one complaint, it would be that the crowds cheering didn't let me catch every word.
After the show was over we got to have our own little qna with the main ensemble, i can't remember everything off the top of my head but the two parts that stuck with me were the answers on starting their careers and being constantly rejected at first. Fieros actor had said "it's not rejection, it's redirection" and the actor for Glinda saying that everyone has a thing "let's say yours is wearing pink, even if you get rejected because of that keep doing it, you'll eventually find someone else who loves wearing pink too". She had called it a weird analogy afterwards, but it was on repeat in my head and pink happens to be my favourite color to wear so it felt a little special coming from someone so cool.
that same day we got to walk around London and all i can say is that I've never felt so at home. well, until next time! Amina
slight delay in the 7 days 7 movies series, had a trip to go see WICKED! in a huge theatre in London, I'll post about that later! got a huge amount of work to do for tommorow but I'll be sure to post very soon!!!
HI I JUST GOT AN EMAIL SAYING I GOT ACCEPTED INTO SUMMER SCHOOL AND IM SCREAMING BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY PROGRAM IM ELIGIBLE FOR AND I WAS CRYING BEFORE OVER BEING A FAILURE BUT OH MY GOD

Alliteration! so stuffs gone down this month lol!!! i'm not doing so well right now but i think collecting my thoughts and letting 52 people read them is a fun way of coping. i'm really behind on school work, like half a year behind due to constantly being ill. if i don't catch up i was told i might have to sit AS-Level Sociology (40% of an A-level) which means in turn that i'd have to stay in school for an extra year sitting another subject not of my choice. they want a meeting aswell which really really really can't happen currently, i don't have school equipment but hopefully i can pull through?!?!?! idk maybe things will get better soon until next time! Amina
ps - this has been sitting in my drafts and its now june... idk how that happened

hey quick note, so the device I usually use for most of my school work and work related stuff has had a new smoothwall extension installed blocking almost everything I can think of from, socials to movies, including tumblr (currently typing on my really horrible phone) so things are gonna be on hold for a while. its created a ton of problems not only for personal use (as its my main device since this phone is barely usable) but for schoolwork especially media where watching TV shows and movies, and looking at games is my schoolwork. until this issue is fixed I'm afraid I won't be posting, I don't know if this will be fixed in a week or months from now but I'll try and get back to you soon -Amina
maybe one more cropped excerpt on tumblr will fix me
does anyone have any tips/tricks/recommendations for cv-writing, job applications and looking for opportunities like internships and summer programs? trying to get admin/managerial and/or film/art related places has been really hard as a student still in first year of sixth form. please interact and let me know as any and all input would be appreciated <3
Saturday 29th April 2023 - 12:17pm we're back at it again with another movie list! given the title of this post i should've posted it about two weeks ago but lifes gone down so i just haven't had the time. so without further ado... the way way back (comedy-drama, 2013) directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash - Duncan, with his mother, her boyfriend, and his daughter take a vacation at his potential step-dads beachhouse. Annoyed, he wanders off and meets Owen who offers him a job at Water Wizz and opens up his world. one of my favourite movies of all time, it's so so so underrated, it's one of those movies where it feels like a sneak peak into someone's life, it doesn't have that distinct movie separated-from-reality feeling to it. this movie introduced me to the phenomenal Sam Rockwell (who, by the way, is also my favourite actor ever!) and urged me to watch many movies he has appeared in. this film is close to my heart and out of all the ones on this list, i sincerely encourage you to watch The Way Way Back the most.
me, earl and the dying girl (comedy-drama, 2015) directed by Alfonso Gomez-Rejon - in which Greg Gaines, a socially awkward teenage boy, along with his "co-worker" Earl (who he makes short, parody films with) become friends with Rachel, a dying girl with cancer. Greg spends more and more time with Rachel and neglects school, all the while making a film just for her. despite being a little bit cliche, the film holds up rather well. although i wasn't the biggest fan of the original book (written by Jesse Andrews and of the same name). Greg is so relatable as a person, though his internal monologue isn't as true to the source material it still translates quite well from written word to film portrayal. *minor spoilers* if i had to pick a part, i love the ending of the movie where it shows Greg and Earls film, i love the scene as Rachel tells a silent story set in the walls of her room and her wishes for Greg. i think i could recite every word and direction of the script for that scene word for word the black phone (supernatural-horror, 2021) directed by Scott Derrickson - Set in the 1970s, 13 year old Finney Blake, a shy but clever boy is kidnapped by "The Grabber" a serial child abductor who keeps him held in the basement of his home, an almost completely empty room with the exception of an old black phone on the wall with it's wires cut. when Finney begins to lose hope of escape, the phone rings. when the first teaser came out for this movie back in 2020 i was so so so stoked for its release. this movie isn't gory or anything, but there is a fair bit of blood and violence involving children. it's not coming-of-age as you'd typically see it which i quite like. it gave me slight IT vibes and nostalgia from the IT era of 2017. I love how Finney develops through the story, that it's not completely ***MAJOR SPOILERS*** up to the ghosts to help him and that he does have to figure things out on his own, i like how he gives up and Robin is the last one there, i wish some more depth was added as to the background of The Grabber and the story of the phone. **END** however if you're going to watch The Black Phone, i heavily recommend NOT watching the main trailers as they essentially give the entire plot away.
i hope you liked this post! i might make this into a series as coming-of-age movies are my favourite genre that's all for now!

if you're not obsessed with anything weird and niche please try harder. stop going outside for a while. consider getting weirder about the things you already like
it's 00:04 and i'm 17.
i'm gonna be 17 in less than three hours, i hope getting older means all the aching over things from years ago can go away, i feel like im just frozen at a point in time because no matter what i do there's so many things that don't seem to leave. i wish sixth form goes fast and that i can actually get out of this slump thats seemed to have lasted for the longest time now. i have so much work to do from the easter holiday, i had my chromebook confiscated from me but i got it back the other night so i'll need to last minute complete everything. i want to visit my primary school but i'm a bit scared of how different it's going to be, and if my old teachers will actually be happy to see me. my mum wants me to start driving lessons but i feel like with everything going on i won't be able to handle it.
i was supposed to make a birthday playlist post but honestly there's no point because i won't listen to it anyways i hope when school starts again things will be a bit less miserable. that's all for now Amimi
i be like “damn i got a lot of shit to do” and then go lay down for 17 hours
hey, sorry i didn't post a march recap. everythings been really draining recently and i haven't been doing that well, it's my 17th birthday the day after tommorow so there's that i guess. had a bunch of friend and family issues and i don't really feel like doing anything, the easter holiday also ends in four days. that's all for now.
girls will have one (1) good day when they convince themselves they've never been unwell in their life and the next day the horrors will return
on my third day i had three new supervisors! the main one was the owner of the law firm who turned not to be not very intimidating like i thought he would be! he was very fun and nice! and he bought everyone in the office food which was really nice but i couldn't eat it because it wasn't halal :( he offered to go out again and buy me something but there was no way i was making my boss do that. he knew everyone in the magistrates court and i was supposed to see some of the clients with him in the cells but they denied me because i'm too young :// thursday i wrote letters to clients, did some general paperwork, looked at case files and made everyone tea and coffee. the main task that day was a review from a teacher at school which was generally favourable! and my supervisors gave us good reports aswell! i had also gone to youth court that day but it was mainly sitting around since i wasn't allowed inside the court - there was lawyer who was 70 years old who i spoke with in the waiting room, he was actually not far into his career as a lawyer as he decided to become one around the age of 40 which i thought was really coolll. then once all the youth cases were handled my supervisor and i got locked out the office so we played squares in the rain on my notepad, then i drew phoenix wright and thumbtacked it to the main board on the wall!. friday i went on a trip to leamington with another supervisor! leamington is really different to my town, i almost walked into a police station because it looked so done up i thought it was the crown court building! they had soo many good songs on the radio that day, i think i spoke a bit too much though, my supervisor was quite sad from something personal that had happened to her so i just kept talking and trying to cheer her up because she looked like she was constantly on the verge of tears, i think she's really amazing for still coming into work despite everything happening to her. the crown court in leamington is really different to the magistrates court where i live - in the magistrates court the public viewing place is just a few chairs at the back of the room but in the crown court, its a whole seperate place with microphones and a tv screen - i got let off early that day because there quite literally nothing for me to do, i wish i had just stayed there anyways for a few more hours because i kinda miss it, i'm really thankful i had such a good placement! sorry this post is a week late, i thought i had queued it but it turns out it's been sitting in my drafts, since that was the most eventful thing that happened in feb i think i won't make a february roundup since i've already told you everything until next time! Amina
i went to youth club for the first time yesterday!! it was very fun and cute! i think i want to start going on a weekly basis if i can
this post has been a bit delayed, i've been so tired i've just been lounging around this past week since its half term holidays (which by the way, we came back from christmas around jan 5? the half term should not be this short). writing this post to get my brain working as i actually put thought into what im doing/writing lolol. so i did my one week of mandatory work experience in a law firm, the initial information sheet i'd been given had described my role more like being a receptionist? i ended up doing all sorts of things though. i imagined the building i was going to work at as being really big and formal but when i went there it turned out to be a medium-sized office with its entrance quite tucked away around the back of a big building. on my first day of work, i ended up wandering around for half an hour being lost and i walked into like 5 different wrong law firms that would tell me the general direction which i would follow and still be lost. that day there ended up not being much for me to do, other than try to read up on basic knowledge. i got walked to the magistrate's court for the last 2 hours of the day and made notes, it didn't seem like much though, mostly because i didn't understand too much of what was going on. my second day was more eventful! my supervisor was on police station duty that day but he didn't get called for any cases. i mainly attended court that day and observed 5 cases which were very cool!! i would love to tell you all about that but because many of them are still ongoing it would interfere with them and so i am sworn to the utmost secrecy. i also got to read real case files and was asked to say what i thought, guilty or not guilty and to argue my side oh! did you know that the magistrates court is open to public? anyone can come and sit in the back as observe as long as it's not a youth case. this post is getting long so head on down to pt 2!!
