You Have To Rid Yourself Of The Idea That Everyone Whose Nuance Threatens Yours Belongs To The Other

you have to rid yourself of the idea that everyone whose nuance threatens yours belongs to The Other Side. a good way to start doing that is to accept yourself as a culturally informed subject whose internality, too, is constructed of ideas that are worth critiquing, and will be forever

War as a concept is like if you asked a 5 year old what their solution to political disagreements would be. Uhm so every country has a bunch of big strong fighters and when the countries get into arguments they fight about it and the biggest and strongest one is the winner and also they are then the good guys. Goo goo ga ga I will now eat a lego brick

frankly if you identify with society's idea of womanhood, you lack either critical thinking or self respect.

this goes for males and females.

"i can't benefit from oppressive power structures, i'm literally nice :)" is a disturbingly common sentiment on here and if u express it then i can never trust u again

Becoming a parent is an ego death for the mother. But not for the father. When a couple has a child, the woman becomes a woman and the man stays a man. In the sense that, the role of being a mother is inescapable. A baby is latched to you 24/7 in a way that isn't the case for the father. Even if you were pumping and so that the father could get up and feed the baby instead, you still are going to have to get up to pump to keep your production. There's nothing that a man can do that the woman doesn't already have to do. Most men continue their extracurricular activities as normal, having days out with the boys meanwhile women find that they can't even take a shower anymore without requiring advanced coordination. I mean heck, the fact that men can have multiple families but a woman never can, speak to this fact.

Prior to this, as just a couple without children - you can have gender equality. So if you don't already have it at that stage, you will definitely never have it when you have children.

But the act of having a child is an inescapable gender inequity. Parenthood can never be 50/50 even with a very involved partner. I think this is a very hard pill to swallow.

"Men in dresses are seen as bad, but women in pants aren't!"

is not the statement that "men can't be feminine but women can be masculine in society" that you think it is.

Let me introduce: women with facial hair. Full beards. Mustaches. Bald women. Bodybuilder women. Women with visible body hair. These aren't "more acceptable" than men in dresses.

Pants don't have a gendered association anymore, while dresses do. There is something to be said for that, but it certainly ISN'T "masculine women are acceptable now."

anyway… if anyone is looking to improve their reading & writing skills, i highly recommend this article by celine nguyen, which analyses the opening paragraphs of good essays to understand how and why they work. focuses on nonfiction but could apply generally i think

I've noticed my life improved significantly when I started keeping male-centered womens at arms length. For one, I don't want to be around men and they ALWAYS bring their man into everything. I had to cut a women off after she did the whole, 'I hate when someone brings their stupid boyfriend along to girls nights🙄' then brought her stupid boyfriend along because obviously she didn't mean HER man. Not to mention a lot of male-centered women are downright dangerous to be around. They will put you in the vicinity of predators and abusers, they will always side with a man, and they will direct their own hatred towards any women around them. They are the type of women that want feminists to exist so they can benefit from the work of other women, and always rely on a women when something goes wrong, but still laugh with their man about how the hairy, man-hating feminists are just mad because they can't get a man. I support organisations that help women, but I do not help individual women that are male-centered. They want endless support and sympathy from the same women they mock and help put in harms way. Not for me thanks.

That's the way to go girl. We need to protect ourselves from men but also dangerous women.

disturbing parallels i've seen with tras and christianity (as an ex christian)

x is true because x is true!

christians: the bible says it's real because the bible says it's true!

tras: transgender individuals are: (the gender they identify with) because they say they are the gender they identify with!

we don't understand how x works

christians: god works in mysterious ways

tras: only people can define the gender they are. (only women know what women are)

ostracization from the community

christians: so and so is an atheist/gay. is walking down a worldly path. we can't associate with them anymore .

tras: TERF! THIS PERSON IS A TERF! BLOCK THEM!

demanding access into places

christian's: we demand that creationism be taught in public school. that the 10 commandments be showcased in every school!

tras: trans women deserve to be in women's sports! trans women deserve to be in locker rooms! trans women deserve to be in female only spaces!!

strict gender roles

christian's: a woman must be submissive, feminine, present herself in a way that is pleasing to god, and must present herself as non aggressive, gentle, be focused on her husband and children

tras: if a person identifies as a woman they MUST be submissive! they must be emotional! they're very soft spoken and passive, and love being soft, and have a gender non conforming/feminine fashion so they MUST be a woman!

persecution complex:

atheist: i believe you have the right to practice your religion but i have a problem with...

christians: WE'RE THE MOST PERSECUTED MINORITY! WE'RE BEING SILENCED INTO NOT SHARING OUR FAITH! THIS PERSECUTION MEANS GOD IS COMING! THE END IS NEAR THE RAPTURE IS HAPPENING!

radfem: if you'd like to dress in a gender non conforming way, then fine. but i have a problem with...

tras: WE'RE IN STAGE 7 OF GENOCIDE! WE'RE BEING DIVIDED AS A COMMUNITY! OUR OWN KIN IS TURNING AGAINST US! THIS IS WHY SUICIDE RATES ARE SO HIGH!!!

if you are x then you are x

christian's: you need the faith the size of a mustard seed to be a Christian.

tras: if you even think you're trans than you're trans

flipping the script once you're in the group

christian's: well actually women need to be pure for their husbands, follow traditional gender roles, reject who they are to be worthy in gods eyes and instill this belief that you are an inherently unloveable person!

tras: you're trans? oh wait, now you can go through years of hormone therapy treatment! you can start voice training to be perceived as the gender you've chosen! then if you feel comfortable you can have surgeries to look your identity!
