‘Abd-Allāh ibn ‘Umar, [may Allāh be pleased with both of them], said:
Al-Adab al-Mufrad, 628
There is no one coming from the stars to brighten your darkness, be the light.
Every time you begin a new month ask yourself
(1) what should I stop doing
(2) what should I start doing
(3) what should I keep doing
Your life as a Muslim should make nonbelievers question their disbelief in Allah.
Ibn Mas’ūd (radiAllahu anhu) said:
Do not befriend except one who assists you in the remembrance (dhikr) of Allah.
الزهد لأبي داود (١/١٢٦)
O Lord, how many people say Your name without being truthful in their hearts?
Abul ‘Āliyyah [may Allāh have mercy on him] said:
“A time will come upon the people wherein there hearts will be devoid and derelict of the Qur’ān.
They will find neither sweetness nor acquire any delight by its recitation.
If they fall short of performing what they have been commanded to do, they will say: ‘Certainly, Allāh is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’
If they commit that which they have been forbidden from doing, they will say: ‘We shall be forgiven, we have not associated any partners unto Allāh.’
Their affairs will be based on covetousness [and false hope], possessing no truth [and no sincerity].”
