“I ship him with Powder but not Jinx” THEYRE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON THAT WAS THE ENTIRE POINT OF EPISODE 7. IT WAS ABOUT HIM REALIZING THAT HE STILL LOVES JINX (and that he gave up on her too soon) BECAUSE THEYRE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON. JINX IS POWDER BUT WITH 10x MORE TRAUMA AND NO SUPPORT SYSTEM. Because on first watch, I expected this was going to be something negative. Ekko trying to defend why he'd been so hostile to Powder. 'You're not the kind of person who helps... because you destroy things,' or something to that effect.

But no.

What a way to look at Jinx?? Even with everything she's done... He looks at this well-adjusted, 'ideal' Powder, and still thinks she's missing something that his Jinx has. The Powder that he knew was so determined to make something that mattered... it's a Powder who's content to play second-fiddle to the people around her, a Powder that settles that feels off to him.

And that ties into why he can't stay here. Our Ekko isn't the kind of person who settles either.

They were both hurting, they both did and said shit they didn't mean. Ekko looking at Powder healthy and happy made him realize. Jinx could heal, that his love didn't just stop. It never went away, he still loved her. Its why he gentle with her, why he rewinds time. Its why he corrects himself.

Jinxs will literally haunt him because all this time spent angry could have been used to reset like they did when they finally talked.

Timebomb is real, any other ship about them doesn't make sense when they have so much depth and such a beautiful history together.

I love that Ma Meilleure Ennemie plays during the Ekko/Powder dance, because that song is about Ekko and Jinx.

That dance is Ekko coming to terms with the fact that regardless of what name she goes by, regardless of all the pain they can cause each other in the wrong circumstances, he still loves her.

It's why the first thing he does after the dance is lament that he gave up on Jinx, and why Powder tells him that she has never seen him give up on anything.

It's also why when he gets back to Jinx, he makes the conscious choice of calling her Jinx instead of Powder.

Because he loves her, he never stopped loving her, he just stopped believing there was still good in her. But now, he chooses to believe in her, and it's that belief that gives Jinx the strength to walk off that ledge and to give life one more chance.

It seems they didn’t understand that Ekko had always been in love with every side of her. He just needed to put the rivalry aside and think about it to understand.
