Clive, hurt, “you didn’t tell me.” 🥺
It’s the way Jason and Clive are in so in sync. Not even Farrah knew what was going on.

(Quote from book 11)
They go on like this for MONTHS, both pining while also spending all their time together. Jason making breakfast, going to the university together, Jason working at Clive’s lab between classes, Clive or Belinda teaching Jason how the technology they use work, then going home together and eating dinner. The only alone time they get is late at night in bed. Eventually Jason even becomes Clive’s TA.
The routine continues until it’s time to start thinking about publication. Everything is a mess. They arrive home later and later, bringing more and more work home with them. Then one night they’re seated on the newly cleaned couch (Jason has set strict rules on book and paper placement) while reviewing the figures for their paper and Clive starts to nod off.
He falls asleep on top of Jason… and Jason enjoys it. Too exhausted to moralize, he stays with Clive asleep on top of him while he organizes sources for a literature review, and then he falls asleep as well.
He wakes up in the morning feeling like a piece of shit while Clive acts like it’s completely normal.
A modern day AU where Clive is a lonely researcher and Jason works part time at a dumpling soup shop and at an office supply store.
Clive only goes out for three things - food, office supplies, and basic necessities. Somehow he runs into Jason doing all three of these. And somehow, the chef/server who will let Clive rant about his research, coworkers, the university (all while looking very interested), remembers his name and says hi to him every time they see each other.
Omg this is amazing??? They’re perfect

Shishu you cheater >:'(
bingliu(shen) be upon ye
Progress reports are due… kill me now. 😭 their grades are NOT up to date.
Jason: Clive blushed when I told him I made his favorite food. Do you think he likes me too?
Farrah: Taika went three times last night instead of two. Do you think that means something?

Taika and Farrah fucking in the background while Clive and Jason are dancing around each other lol. They basically spend every free hour together. Jason goes to class, then Clive’s lab as a research assistant, then they go home together, Jason makes dinner and their lunch for tomorrow, and they fall asleep.
Clive occasionally helps Jason with his homework, Jason makes sure Clive doesn’t fall asleep and drool all over his books. Clive has never been so healthy. They almost forget that they met on a date.

YES!!!!
Clive proposes before their fifth date… a marriage of convenience. It honestly takes a bit to convince Jason, but in the end it’s a courthouse wedding, with a small after ceremony at their friends’ and families’ insistence. They put up a bit of an act for their families (and I imagine Clive very visibly does NOT like Kaito).
Jason ends up moving in with Clive, it’s closer to the university and bigger. Only to be met with a horrific sight. Instant meals crowd the fridge, notes and books left everywhere except for a small spot on the couch and the bed, Clive uses 2 in one shampoo!

Jason gets directions to Clive’s lab from Farrah to bring him food because he tends to lock himself away without any concern for health. While he’s there he actually helps to solve the issue Clive has been dealing with. (Clive doesn’t even know how far gone he is at this point)
Clive asks Jason to join his lab but Jason doesn’t have his bachelors degree.

Belinda has to trick Clive to go on the date by taking him to the dumpling soup spot (his favorite restaurant btw) and tell him it’s a date at the last minute before ditching. But! Lo and behold it’s with the one person who can ask about his research and already has the background of knowledge of what it’s about.
Jason who has also been secretly going home and researching the topic because he’s curious and perpetually hungry for knowledge.

His name is now Onslow and I will be figuring out how to embroider runes onto his back
The way a student of mine tried to argue that he didn’t need to learn how to read outside of the basics because “it’s not necessary anymore. We have AI.” He had a whole (obviously poorly worded, he couldn’t use AI when talking to me) speech.
I’m seriously concerned about my students. They’re 14-15 and a lot of them are bordering on illiterate. Their English teacher plays the audiobooks for their assigned reading to them because there’s no other way to keep the stuff that they do “at grade level.” They simply refuse to read because it’s SO HARD for them (and some just can’t.)

Summary:
Everyone was watching him, and it made him cry even harder. He was angry at himself. They were staring because he was crying. If he stopped crying, they would stop staring. He knew that. He wanted them to stop staring. But he couldn’t ever make his body do what it was supposed to. He tried his best to avoid getting snot on his shirt. He was pretty sure it was his only shirt, now. He didn’t want it to be all snotty.
This is the story of Clive’s first monster surge, when his family took shelter in the Geller Estate.

Today, I happened to come across my first ever piece of serious writing from 2020. It was a Harry Potter fanfiction, and, at the time, was a piece longer than I ever could've dreamed of writing, sitting at around 77 pages in Google Docs. I read about the first ten pages, and OH BOY was it ROUGH.
But, I almost really like the idea that it was so bad. That piece of writing is five years old, and was when I first began by journey as a creative writer. In a way, the idea that it was bad was almost comforting, because I get to see how much I've truly changed and grown.
I looked at this piece of writing compared to one of my most recent fanfictions, and the difference is IMMACULATE in just the first two paragraphs. My old writing was heavily dialogue driven, contained so little detail, and felt rather bland, especially in terms of a character's emotions and actions. Now, I'm watching how detailed I am with each of my sentences, and how much attention I'm putting into each character. I can see where younger me was lacking, and where older me has recognized and fixed those holes and has grown beyond where I ever could've dreamed.
I think that, as writers, we often tend to lose track of how much we progress as we practice. It's really easy to get lost in the issues or problems we're having now, and neglect to think about how far we've truly come. We continue to focus on the negative instead of the positive; the future we want instead of where we were in the past.
My point is this: if at any moment you start to doubt your writing, or just think nothing is improving, go back and look at your old pieces. Don't change anything and just read through them. It's probably going to be really difficult, but it just shows how much you've grown and how much progress you've made over the course of your journey. I think you'll find that your writing has changed a lot more than you thought, and that, despite what you believe, you really have grown.
Instead of being embarrassed by your older pieces, use them to motivate you. Think about how much younger you would be shocked at how far you are right now, and just how proud they would be of you. You are currently at the position where younger you could only dream of being. And it's only going to go up from here 💖

2ha fans you guys need to write more modern aus where Chu Wanning has long flowing hair and he overhears Mo Ran making fun of it (in the way he talks shit about Chu Wanning because he doesn't want to admit he likes him) and the next day Chu Wanning comes to work with a hair cut and Mo Ran actually loses his mind
Mo Ran in genuine grief: WHY WHY WOULD HE DO THIS!???
Shi Mei: maybe he's trying to look good for someone he likes?
Mo Ran:
I am actually really bad at adulting
