as someone who has tried to study typology/mbti, it's really annoyingly difficult and honestly, unless you really want to, dont even study it. like who cares? just use it for the aesthetic or just use it for saying you relate to the stereotypes because at the end of the day, it's literally not hurting anyone

when people make content like "assigning your mbti an aesthetic" and "reccomending you books based on your mbti"... i love that. it's fun and nice and harmless. you know what i dont love though? the people in the comments saying "you're probably mistyped, go study cognitive functions" to the content creator

like just shut up. it doesnt make you cool to ruin someone's fun like that, and its not like they owe it to you to study typology.

Okay so in doing some comparing(?) between the perceiver and judger traits, I find my self more of a perceiver than a judger like I don’t relate to all the traits displayed on the perceiver side but I relate to more traits on the perceiver side than I do in the judger side (if that makes sense)

Alright….

Alright….

Well you guys were right I am NOT an INFP :D

I am also NOT an ISFP or an ISTP either though

I’m kind of in between if I’m an ISTP or an ISTJ cause when taking multiple quizzes I almost always get ISTJ but when I tried typing myself using

this chart:

Alright….

I got stuck on whether I’m a perceiver or a judger

possible enneagram combinations for the NTs (satire)(offensive)(Pdb be like)

INTJ:

1-INTJs can't be ones cause Si-less (Si=1)

2-INTJs can't be 2s because everyone knows INTJs don't feel emotions 🤓🤓

3-nooooo Ni doms can't be 3s they cannot possibly properly socialize with other homo sapiens

4-Too much Te (4s can only be IxFPs)(4s love to cry and INTJs are incapable of tears)

5-only Sp5 and So5 (being a Sx type indicates that the type has bitches and every INTJ is an incel who lives in their mom's basement)

6-sure why not (not Sp6 because it is too soft and weak and INTJs are emo badasses)

7-Not possible because INTJs hate parties

8-Se-less 💀 (Se=8 according to my uncle)

9-INTJs are not doormats therefore no (an INTJ online started yelling at me because I threatened to call the fbi to accuse them of having an iq below 300)

INTP:

1-not possible, INTPs have no productivity (somehow 1=procrastination-less) (in my experience INTPs never make their bed after they wake up)

2-No Fe 💀 therefore no 2 (INTPs don't know how to bake cookies and all 2s love sugar cookies)

3-INTPs have no ambition or social skills (lack of Te 💀) therefore they are un-3 (INTPs don't even have the ambition to get up from bed)

4-nooo 4 is Fi not Ti 😡😡

5-Only Sp5 (INTPs cannot be social types since social types can properly communicate with human beings and Sx5s have bitches)

6-INTPs are too 200 iq and all 6s are npc henchmen of 8w7

7-INTPs are too 🤓

8-INTPs are too 🤓

9-They overthink too much therefore they not 9 (9s are head empty and the only words they say are: I'm tired and I'm fine either way)

ENTJ:

1-yes cuz ENTJ yell (no Sp1)

2-no cuz ENTJ yell

3-ENTJ intensifies (no Sx3 because female energy 🤢🤮🤢)

4-nooooo ENTJs are Fi-less (ENTJs only have emotions because their zeal is powered by the tears of 4s)

5-nooooo ENTJs have no Ti and Te is too dumb and Ti is 500 iq and 5s cannot be stupid

6-ENTJs don’t focus on danger, they focus on ta grindset 😎💪

7-ENTJs are too sane to be 7s

8-ummm actually Te doms can't be 8s only Se doms can be 8s cause Te doms are just E1 and E3 karens trying to be cool 🤓🤓🤓

9-ENTJs are NOT submissive and breedable hence it is impossible for them to be 9s

ENTP:

1-no Si therefore not 1 (ENTPs hate it when the government threatens them for doing whatever the fuck they want)

2-all ENTPs are chaos demons therefore they can't be 2s (2s are too kind and innocent to commit several acts of first degree murder)

3-only So3 (ENTP is too lazy for Sp3 and too mean to be Sx3)

4-no Fi no 4 💀

5-ENTPs are E types and all 5s are hermits (being an E type indicates that the type touches grass dayly and that is 100% contradictory to 5s)

6-ENTPs never worry (from my mother's friend's cousin's brother's personal experience with his ENTP friend)

7-only Sp7 7w8 (7w6, So7 and Sx7s are too angelic. ENTPs love arson)

8-no Se no chadness 💀

9-all ENTPs are peace-breakers (one broke into my house and asked for Vbucks) therefore they are not 9s

simple (?) definitions of the functions

Edit: I made some changes (they are in italics)

Without a basic knowledge of the cognitive functions, it can be extremely hard to understand mbti. Here are the simplified definitions of the functions:

Ne (extroverted intuition): this function spreads intuition/ideas externally. The main thing Ne values is possibility. Ne wants to understand the dozens of ideas that stem from one event. It does not like to stick to one idea.

ex: when it sees a flower, it comes up with dozens of flower designs of its own. It thinks of all the possibility the flower can look like, thought Ne does not care if it is practical (or considered a “good” idea).

Ni (introverted intuition): this function forges an intuitive idea internally. Ni takes information in and thinks of one idea, one insight, on possibility. Like Ne, Ni is focused on what might be possible, not on what is tangible. It wants to dive deeper into the “truth” to find a secret meaning/contradiction.

Ex: when it sees dozens of flowers, it comes up with its own design of a flower. Unlike Ne, Ni takes its time to analyze the depth of one specific idea. Ne does not care much about the accuracy and worth of its ideas (it values possibilities more), while Ni wants its idea to be valuable.

Se (extroverted sensing): this function is focused on the external physical world around it. Se is focused on the present and what is happening in the moment. Like Si, it is focused on the small tangible details. Se is a fairly direct and objective function. It does not like to meddle with hypotheticals and theories (this does not mean Se is unintellectual). This function is a kinesthetic learner and likes to meddle with its environment.

Ex: when it sees a flower, it simply, well, sees it. It's a concrete object that has no other poetic meaning to it.

Si (introverted sensing): this function is focused on the real world in its head/internally. Si is oriented towards the past, towards repetition. It makes decisions based on how similar events in the past enrolled. Si values predictability (not necessarily tradition).

Ex: when it sees a flower, it remembers how the flower connects to past sensory details and it stores the details of the flower in its head for further use in the future.

Fi (introverted feeling): this function is focused on its own internal moral code/philosophy. It makes decisions based on how moral the situation is based on its own feelings and values. Fi is often seen as the function that wants to be authentic because it is concerned if the current situation/its decision aligns with its personal values.

Ex: when Fi gives gifts to other people, it contemplates on what gift it would like/value. Fi also analyzes how the gift would be valuable according to the person’s inner feelings and beliefs.

Fe (extroverted feeling): this function is focused on the external moral code. It is concerned if its actions align with external beliefs and ethnics. Fe makes decisions based on what the majority values. It is aware of how its actions will impact/meddle with the emotional state of other people*. Unlike Fi, Fe believes ethics are not decided by itself. Fe is objective, like Te.

*Though other functions might have this ability, Fe knows how other people feel on a “deeper level” and it is confident in its ability to do so (just like how Fi is confident in its ability to analyze its own beliefs). For example, Te might be able to analyze emotions on a surface level, but it has trouble understanding the emotions of others on an in-depth level. Plus, Te is not concerned with the emotional environment.*

Ex: when Fe gives gifts to other people, it gives gifts based on what the majority believes is the best gift.

Ti (introverted thinking): this function is focused on the logical world internally. It forges its own logical claims, reasoning and conclusions. Ti is mainly concerned with the internal consistency and analysis of one thing, rather than external evidence that supports it. Inductive reasoning. “The ball will fall because I’ve seen the same ball fall down multiple times, therefore it will fall down this time.” Ti cannot understand how one thing can contradict its own “rule”.

Ex: when Ti gives gifts, it forms an analysis on what gift would be the most beneficial based on the patterns and observations it witnesses.

Te (extroverted thinking): this function is focused on the external world of logic. It is focused on data, evidence and facts from the outside world. It is focused on if something is practical/aligns with external rules and principles. It analyzes things based on how it relates to similar external logical principles. “This ball will fall because I’ve seen other rubber balls like this fall, so it is logical to assume that this one will fall.” Deductive reasoning. Te cannot understand how one thing can contradict the “universal rule”.

Ex: when Te gives gifts, it analyzes what is the most beneficial gift by evaluating the already the existing/assumed benefits each gift option has and picks the gift with the best benefits.

Inferior functions as emotions

When I'm overwhelmed and many negative thoughts and feelings come on the surface, the emotion that controls me the most, is:

Inferior Ni: Confusion about what is really happening, misunderstanding of people's actions, difficulty to see the effects of a present action to the future

Inferior Ne: Fear of possible changes and new information, trying to multitask because of insecurity but without success, difficulty accepting difference

Inferior Si: Anxiety over things of minor importance, double checking everything and difficulty to recall past experiences in order to achieve something

Inferior Se: Boredom and reduction of physical energy, analyzing every plan without getting to actual work, difficulty in using insights in practical ways

Inferior Ti: Contempt of peoples' mannerisms and behavior, overly critical on others' choices and logic, difficulty seeing people's opinions and reasons

Inferior Te: Anger about people being too incompetent, acting like a mean dictator in order to prove self-worth, difficulty believing in self and others

Inferior Fi: Vulnerability and emotional weakness, crisis about morals, feelings of powerlessness, difficulty accepting faults and emotions

Inferior Fe: Embarrassment about personal feelings, clueless about how others feel, social awkwardness and difficulty adapting in groups and restricted norms

INFJ vs INFP: 5 Ways To Distinguish Them

So guys most of the people who are interested in MBTI and Types are often confused about the differences between INFJ and INFP. Those two are the most easy to be mistyped. Personally I’ve been mistyped as an INFJ but now it’s clear I’m an INFP.

In this post I’ll write some important differences to tell them apart.

1. Judging and Percieving

These types may seem to be the same, but that last letter changes everything. The INFJ uses Judging which means they are more methodical, they need some restrictions, orders, rules. They work with a plan and maybe they tend to make a to-do list.INFP however, uses Percieving which means they work in a more playful way. They don’t see the importance of so many rules and they want to express themselves, so orders and plans are not their thing.

2. Cognitive Functions

INFJ = Ni > Fe > Ti > Se

INFP = Fi > Ne > Si > Te

The INFJ might be a Judging type, but they are driven by a Perceiving function which is called Ni (Introverted iNtuition). Ni is their dominant function and it is about understanding the big picture, the why of everything. They take in information first and judge or form conclusions second. They perceive information from symbols, patterns, behavior etc. After that, they sum everything up and conclude to the one most suitable truth and stick to it. INFJ sees the world for what it means and they fill the gaps. On the other hand, the INFP uses Perceiving but they are driven by a Judging function, called Fi (Introverted Feeling). Fi is like a personal compass of right and wrong. It judges first and perceives ideas second. Fi wants to decide based on strong, personal values and it has a powerful ethical code to follow. INFP wants to decide first if something is right or wrong for them and take information later. That may sounds weird for INFPs because Fi is the slowest and for me one of the most complex judging functions compared with Fe or Ts but that’s okay. They see everything in a more of a personal way (Fi).

What is more, INFJ’s auxiliary function is a judging fuction, called Fe (Extraverted Feeling). Fe wants to create harmony and maintain balance in social norms and relationships. It won’t be happy until everyone else is happy. However, INFP’s auxiliary function is Ne (Extraverted iNtuition), a percieving function. Ne wants to brainstorm. It sees all possible outcomes and all the options. It jumps from idea to idea, without considering if those ideas have something in common.

As for the tertiary functions, INFJ uses Ti (Introverted Thinking) and INFP uses Si (Introverted Sensing). Ti is about understanding how and why the world works that way. It is very logical, systematic and seeks consistency and accuracy. Tert. Si is about recalling past experiences and comparing them with the present. It seeks nostalgia and comfort.

Last but not least, the INFJ uses Se (Extraverted Sensing) as their inferior function which means that under stress the INFJ avoids external stimulation because they are in their heads and lose touch with the world around them. Also, INFJs might overdo sensory pleasures (food, alcohol, addictions, sex) when under stress and they hate intense things such us weird smells, tastes, many colours, noises etc. The INFP uses Te (Extraverted Thinking) as their inferior function. Inferior Te wants to think things through a lot, but without doing anything to make it happen. INFP under stress can also be extremely critical, harsh with self and others, overly directive, sarcastic and may be obsessed with fixing errors, correcting others, mispellings, giving orders, grammatical or vocabulary mistakes etc.

3. Absorbing and Mirroring emotions

The INFJ tends to absorb emotions. This means that when someone has a problem, the INFJ won’t just listen, but they will absorb other’s emotions into their heart… They focus on other peoples’ emotions. They actually feel (almost) exactly the way you feel. Like their mood depends on the group’s mood. You are sad, I’m sad. Due to their aux Fe, they know what you feel. They see your feelings more objectively. So they don’t need much time to reflect about how you may feel.

The INFP tends to mirror emotions. This means that when someone has a problem, the INFP won’t fully feel the way you do. They do imagine your pain though and they really understand your feelings, but due to their dom Fi, they feel things in a personal level only. They see your feelings more subjectively, and so they need more time to reflect about what did you exactly meant when you said x and y.

4. Social chameleon or different snowflake?

Yes, both INFJs and INFPs seek interpersonal harmony. Yes, they both avoid conflict. Yes, they both are complex and think in a different way. However…

INFJs are social chameleons. They keep everything balanced and they try to maintain harmony, even by sacrifing personal convenience. Moreover, INFJs seem a lot more like extraverts because they need a little socializing and people (Fe). Many times, when in a conversation, they prefer to change their bodies’ language, tone of voice etc., in order to feel more “bonded” and comfortable with others. They may also change the way they talk (but NOT what they believe in) and generally they look like people who modify their behaviour ONLY (and not their true self) depending on who they talk with.

INFPs are different snowflakes. They do care about harmony but they will never sacrifice their individuality and internal values just to fit in. They will not be as they must, just for the sake of the greater good. INFPs advocate for staying true to yourself, even if that means ruining the atmosphere. And it’s not about being selfish, but about being real and following your heart and your personal ethics only (Fi). When they love something, they’ll talk passionately about it, even if their opinions don’t suit with others’ and even if they feel awkward and insecure about themselves. They want to help people become their most authentic and true self, and even though they are really self conscious, they say that the only way they can help others, is to help themselves first (and no, no they are not egoistic). .

5. Desire to be Understood or Validated?

Although both types feel misunderstood, they feel it in a different way.

INFJs feel marginalized. They fear that they don’t fit in and that others don’t get them in a suitable way. This is happening because while they fully understand other people well, others rarely truly understand them, due to the complexity of their characters. INFJs do not want to change your opinion or to convince you for something. They just want you to understand what they say, what they think. They don’t ask you to adopt their beliefs, they just want to be understood.

INFPs feel similar. They fear that no one could possibly ever get them, but what they fear even more, is that someone may fully understands them. They don’t really want to be understood, because if someone understands them, it means they lost some of their unique individuality and now they are the same with others. Please, don’t misunderstand me and say that they are stupid or anything. Personally I think it’s okay not wanting to be 100% understood. No one wants that. INFPs want to be validated from others that their motives and intentions are good when it comes to their actions and ideas.

To sum up, both types are highly emotionally intelligent, complex, sensitive, caring, true, altruistic and have a lot of things to offer to the world. Hope now you can type yourself better and understand the things that tell them apart, in order to be a better person. Much love ♡
