while I wait for 15 hours for the votes to be done (I'm impatient I'm trying to be patient it's just 15 hours idc if it isn't on point its technically 15 hours) here are some facts about elio
number one: elio has curly hair, like 3A-3C curly hair depending on if its cared for
number two: elio has no concept of gender (this is due to having been raised on the run)
number three: like how neil upped his age by a year elios age is upped by a year as well (he was orginal born in 2002 the day and month are the same)
number four: between Christmas and January Allison decided to work on elios hair getting it back to its natural state (the sketch/drawing I'm doing has his natural hair so yay)
number five: elio can't swim at all he also has a fear of the water
number six: when elio was a infant (and even now because he's short for his age) neil used to cary neil on his front with one of those baby wrap things under baggy shirts ad sweaters
number seven: before baltimore, the girls had taken elio out with them and he had picked out a yellow dress with sunflowers all over it (letting this kid explore his gender which is more than I can say for all my other kid ocs in general)
number eight: elio did try to take the racoon home with the foxes when it came time to leave the cabins it took about five minutes into the drive for aaron to point out the noise from the boot
number nine: Kevin had tried to get elio into exy but it didn't go over well as elio had just started furiously signing in ASL to the point that even neil struggled to keep up
number ten: the monsters dorm room cupboards have at least about 2 massive tubs of strawberry milk (nesquik cuz I think that was the cheapest at the time, it's basically just the cheapest one okay I'm not good at prices)

yes I did Google some stuff so baby racoons are called kits and yes baby foxes can be called kits to they are more often referred as cubs so keep that in mind
also very funfact about elio is that because he was born and raised on the run he doesn't have a concept of gender (yes is this also a funfact because onke of the drawings/ sketches I have planned is him in a dress yes it it cuz fuck gender norms)

like I can get how the line can get taken out of context but like it was the 2000s from what I remember from cousins I've had tell me it wasn't all that great for lgbtq+ people, plus what Kevin said does make sense from the state of it being a sport team and a college 1 thingy at that as well as the fact that they'd be in the public eye and under scrutiny for things like ik we don't fully know how the exy fans reacted to Neil going for riko but like we can just tell that from what the raven fans did kost likely no one liked him.
and like "it's easier to remain heterosexual" the whole wording of that is like to me he doesn't care what you do with other people about your personal relationships however going I the public eye it would be easy to play off being straight like going with paparazzi today they are invasive with what they do to people in the public eye like imagine the backlash from homophobic people if they find out one of their favourite footballers/soccer players are gay it wouldn't go down well, so Kevin was being very caring on suggesting it he wasn't demanding that neil remain straight Kevin couldn't really care less about Neil's swing situation he wasn't really raised to care relationships anyway If I remember correctly so yeah.
Kevin was being a good teammate and giving a suggestion that he believes/believed (irk if it changed) would help neil in the long run plus he says this like before finding out who neil is (if I recall correctly) so he was saying it while also having hopes that neil would go pro
biggest pet peeve rn is people taking "it's easier to remain heterosexual" entirely out of context. no, Kevin was not on his high horse about the fact that he's straight. no, he was not telling Neil that being gay is wrong. i am holding you so gently by the shoulders.

the part where lola keeps wanting to know where mary is and nwil just repeating "she's dead" and then lola just asking about his teammates and then him not wanting to tell her shit is just so brave of him.
"he traced the outline of a key into his bloody burnt palm with a shaky finger closed his eyes and wished neil josten goodbye" the way he switches to nathaniel because nathaniel belonged to his father, Neil belongs to the foxes and abram belonged to Mary and now belongs to Andrew is just like such dramatic irony that it hurts, nathaniel just going to wash his hands so they don't get infected is just such a moment like he was on his death bed or basement or floor.
I'm sorry but Nathan just coming down without wearing shows LIKE SIR YOUR BASEMENT IS PROBABLY INFECTED WITH SO MUCH BACTERIA WHY GO DOWN BAREFOOT JUST WHY. so I'm on the final book woooo we love this honestly doing lore stuff for ocs or just scrolling on my phone while listening to the audio books is so much more easier than picking up the fucking kindle to complete my reread when im already down two of the books anyway, the character development the relationships is just so lovely to hear again

so caseys story happens like after tkm probably like late 2007 early 2008, he is about 9-11 years old so he was roughly born in 97-98 due to him being born in mid november, uhhh timeline shit but oh well.
casey was an only kid but he did have an older cousin, casey's home life wasn't the best (cuz yk fox and all) uhhh other stuff ummm, right why casey ran intl the foxes and what state was he in to the point it worried probably a few of them, the state our little casey was in was bad, he had bruises,blood stains this is because of something I am withholding cuz I'm a bitch and I don't give away all my secrets.

so still like drawing the aftg kid oc I've used a picrew to show what he looks like for the moment until the character sheet thing is done cuz I suck ar drawing and am using like a body base for one of thek and just some crappy ass thing I managed to hand draw by using a reference for the pose (I suck at drawing I'm awful at it so don't expect it to be any good)

so update on the drawing of said aftg kid oc with no name at the moment uhhh I gave up I re like outlined it I think I'll get back to sketching and drawing it all tomorrow because I'm 2 fucking tired for that shit.
uhh also low-key do kinda have a small bit of info of said kid so yeah I can give that 2 you all, should probably clarify that uhhh how do I word this uhh the kid goes through it before meeting the foxes, he meets them like while all the og foxes are still in uni/college (it was a uni right??)
also Kevin does like place a exy stick into this kids hands about a week or two of staying with abby while at the court and the kids reaction to this like full blown reaction is "this isn't a guitar, you made it seem like it was a guitar." Kevin is just like mind blown, insulted because the kid compared a damn exy racquet to a guitar, the boy love music stuff and his dad had an acoustic guitar so like father like son ig.

I'm not sure if Nora has discussed the answer to this before, but which birthday does Neil use after his identity is made legal? Which one did the fbi put on his new ID and passport and stuff?
I recall that in the extra content Nora responded to an ask related to this saying that the 'crazy' party Dan wanted to do for him did end up happening in March, but in another she also explained how Neil doesn't really like large gatherings or celebrating things like anniversaries. That party doesn't necessarily designate that as the date he chose or that he celebrates at all, maybe just that the team wanted to plan something for him and that was the day that worked best in the timeline of the aftermath of tkm.
I've seen people post a happy birthday thing for him on both January 19th and March 31st, so it seems as a fandom we consider both accurate, but I wonder which one Neil chose... something to ponder.
