Make a list of non-negotiables in your partner. I'm not joking either. Make a list of non-negotiables. Make a list of things you will not do for your partner with the following categories: Never-Dos, Will Not Do Before A Label, Will Not Do Before Rings, Will Not Do Without Marriage. Make a list of must haves and nice to haves as well as the inverse of must nots and should nots. If you want, break it down into categories of men: Male Friends, Men For Casual Dating, Men for Long Term Relationships, Husband Material. Don't even bother dating without building a solid network of platonic, mentorship, and familial relationships. Your familial relationships can absolutely be found family rather than blood, but ensure you have a strong social network foundation before getting into dating. Get comfortable being single, and if a man is having a negative affect on your quality of life rather than a positive one, drop him. Remember that men are on their best behavior for the first 3 months, and if there are problems before that, those problems will be significantly worse. Don't have fuck buddies, and if you do, don't develop feelings for your fuck buddies, and if you do, stop having sex with that fuck buddy. Do not chase these men. They are not worth it. The right men will work their ass off to be with you, and will do the work necessary to be with you if you call them on their shit and send them away to fix it. Do not be someone who's bar is in hell. These are grown ass adults and need to behave as such.

I sincerely don't want to get involved in the celibacy discourse but I will say this as a 35 year old bisexual woman. If you are a woman in your twenties who is attracted to men: Do not chase a man. Any man. Under any circumstances. He isn't special. There will be others. In chasing him, you will lose yourself.

warmly,

Yes, but in the same tragic way any 2000s It Girl was a good celebrity. Just trying to live a normal life and having normal struggles and it constantly being blown out of proportion by tabloids until I devolved into the monster they made me out to be.

do you think you’d be a good celebrity?

There's also dietary changes, supplements & vitamins, and psychotherapy options for treating PMDD. I'd recommend going to a female D.O. + OBGYN who generally will present you with a more well-rounded and wholistic (not holistic) treatment plan. My original PMDD team consisted of a psychologist, a psychiatrist, a dietician, an endocrinologist, and a D.O. gynecologist.

We figured out hormonal birth controls aren't an option for me due to both lifestyle factors and the exacerbation of my PMDD symptoms. We also restricted/eliminated soy from my diet as my intolerance of it went beyond bloating, and it also influenced my mood and psyche due to hormone levels being thrown off when I'd eat soy products as part of my inflammatory response to it. We added in psychotherapy with a focus on DBT and regulation skills to help me better adapt to psychological stressors. For about 3 years, while I was gaining those skills, I was on antidepressants.

My current treatment plan addresses both my seasonal affective disorder, birth control needs, and my PMDD through vitamin D & magnesium supplementation, a paragard IUD (non-hormonal copper IUD), dietary changes to a more whole foods high protien diet, and exercise. I haven't had a true PMDD episode in almost 4 years with this plan. Treating the underlying psychological disorder, getting my hormones balanced, and controlling the inflammatory response has done incredible things for me.

Talking to your primary care doctor or gynecologist about PMDD is an important step, and if you feel your needs are being ignored or aren't being addressed by your medical team, you can and should change providers. Your doctors also can't help you if you don't ask them to help and advocate for yourself. I've gone through a lot of good doctors and bad doctors and now have a fully female medical team whom I trust and who trust me.

Pre-menstrual depression is always depicted as like "He He! I had a box of icecream bars and cried while watching the Titanic!" But in reality, it's more like, "I'm standing the edge of an abyss. There is nothing good inside of me, I'm filled with rage and desperation."

It's crazy that being told how to deal with that is never a part of anyone's menstrual sex education.

Too many people are focused on how others perceive them while simultaneously existing with zero internal locus of control. You can romanticize and try to find the good in all the bad you face, or you can buckle up, sit down, and do the work you need to do in order to change or adapt your situation for a better tomorrow.

Let this be the point where you say enough is enough, take accountability and responsibility for your healing and future, and move forward to a better self. Start your exit strategy, learn to advocate for yourself, whatever it is you need to do. It's not the universe. It's not God/Goddess. It's in your hands. Let go of the things you can't control. Start working on the things you can.

appalachia is devastated. towns i loved, towns i visited all the time, are gone. not damaged, GONE. they are leveled to the ground. there is nothing left but rubble and ruin. people are dead. appalachia is poor to begin with and relies on tourism for a lot of its income, and multiple of those tourist locations are just...gone.

my town is okay, but it's flooded and wrecked. trees are blocking all but one way out of our neighborhood. power lines are hanging limp in the roads. we've been without power for over 24 hours and will continue to be without power for likely another 24+. disabled people and poor people are GOING to die from this. gods save appalachia.

Your soundscape is the finishing touch on the whole "vibe" of your home. I have a wonderful housecall client has the local public radio classical and jazz station playing at a soft hum through her house, I remember the first few housecalls after her late husband died and it was silent, but gradually the classical and jazz returned. My childhood best friend lived in an old colonial house, where the hearth in the front room crackled and creaked with a fire from September through March and the nails of some black lab or another through the years clicked alongside the groans of the old hardwood floors and the boisterous noise of both the adults upstairs at their dinner parties and us kids down stairs up to our antics on the Xbox waxed and waned as the nights went on. The kitchen fan hums along in time with the humming of my mother in my childhood kitchen, along with the whine of the not-quite-right bearing in her kitchen aid stand mixer and the slightly deeper and more dull clinks and clangs of her enameled cast iron pots and pans. We are sensory creatures, our minds forming memories from scents and sounds and textures and sights and emotions and tastes all entwined together.

Praying for Appalachia

Praying For Appalachia
Praying For Appalachia
Praying For Appalachia
Praying For Appalachia

Hurricane Helene lost much of her wind speed after making landfall in Florida, then as a post-tropical cyclone got stalled on the mountains in the Tennessee Valley. This caused massive devastation for an area that rarely and almost never is affected by hurricanes as a landlocked state and the typical evacuation area within a hurricane affected state. Lap Lake Dam held overnight, but many are still displaced due to concerns about dam failure after she was overtopped yesterday. Chimney Rock NC was washed away. These are the high ground areas that are supposed to be the safe places to go during these storms for the coastal communities. However, because it's Appalachia, the public that does know about it is mocking them as stupid, poor, white, conservative, southerners, and the national media isn't covering the devastation. I split my childhood between South Eastern Pennsylvania and the mountains of Virginia. Appalachia and The Rust Belt are my home.

Highs: girls night tinis and the return of a man I sent away to go do the work on himself who, shocking everyone, has been doing the work, and my dogs got to go on some good hikes.

Lows: I'm in a mask for the next 2 weeks because he then popped a fever after spending all day with me Monday. Olive got into some drywall dust in the stairwell where I'm storing my renovation supplies for the clinic. Hannibal fell into the toilet not once but twice and required baths.

There was a time when rough sex meant some hair pulling, mutual scratching (nails down backs or w.e.) and biting kisses, maybe a spank or two to a butt cheek and was more about the quality of the thrusts involved than it was the rest of the actions. Rough sex was desperate, hurried, rushed, and a bit animalistic, but it was more often than not a mutual level of roughness. The fact that BDSM has gone incredibly mainstream has taken what used to be, in my mind, an acceptable level of roughness to something considered "vanillas" by most people and instead introduced things that at the time I was discovering sex were considered hard core -> gore into the every day lexicon and sexual expectations of the porn addicted adult is incredibly concerning. Even those within the scene are growing increasingly alarmed at what is going on in the new scene where the "rights of passage" aren't being upheld. Where people are doing these incredibly hardcore scenes without any kind of education on the safety backups integrated into them, where they aren't checking in on their partners, where they're either unable or unwilling to read their partner's non-verbal cues. I was talking to an older professional leather butch a few months ago about this, about how there's been this shift away from safe & sane to an attitude that as long as it's consensual in the beginning it's fine for a growing number of faux-doms who got all of their education on BDSM from the kink castle's pornos and have never been a sub under someone else. These faux-doms can not manage to maintain arousal outside of a scene and that the focus has shifted from the subs' needs and desires to those of the dom/domme. Face hits were taboo, even in the scene for a long time, especially closed fist ones. Now we have doms openly bragging about punching subs in the face. BDSM has expanded so rapidly and warped so much darker than it was even 10-15 years ago in comparison to what it's become now.

whenever someone says kink is unethical they’re not talking about how you’re into feet or whatever, they’re talking about men who beat, choke, and pretend to rape their girlfriends during sex and play it off like it’s #progressive
