Frank Gorshin, Anthony Perkins and Davy Jones (of the monkees) are Batman 1966's version of The Riddler, The Scarecrow and The Mad Hatter. I know the '66 show had David Wayne as The Mad Hatter, but he's not that exciting. So David Wayne is the imposter hatter and Davy Jones is the reason Hatter. Really, this is going to stay in my head as the Batman '66 version of these three forever. Frank Gorshin, Anthony Perkins and Davy Jones. I think it'd be a great pairing to have seen on stage together. They all seem like great performers. I think art of The Mad Hatter snd Scarecrow modelled after Davy Jones and Anthony Perkins would be great, honestly.
But Davy Jones had to be the Mad Hatter. Short and British, he even sort of sounds like Peter Macnicol doing The Mad Hatter for the batman arkham games. And also, well, daydream believer sounds like a Mad Hatter song. Soft yet almost ethereal, it's perfect. A batman 66 episode with the mad hatter would have to have that song worked in somehow (even if we just have the hatter humming it).

I don't know much about The Beatles and I don't know everything about The Monkees but I do know that while some fundamentals are the same for the two these bands had very different sounds from one another even when they were doing similar things
I've heard Pieces, Aquarius, Capricorn, & Jones LTD get compared to something like Magical Mystery Tour, and while yeah, there's some small similarities, I feel like The Monkees were sort of making their own stuff by that point and straying away from The Monkees+More of The Monkees and with that, they were drifting further from that "American Beatles" image (and, of course, making stuff dissimilar to The Beatles), and The Beatles were making the image a lot of people now associate with them (that you should be high as a kite to enjoy their music. Which. I've yet to try that). Even if you look at the early days of The Beatles/The Monkees, The Monkees were very much their own thing, even as a "manufactured image", they're not super Beatlesesque, they just sound like a good late 60s classic rock band.
Honestly one of the only similarities I can think of off the top of my head between the two (aside from like. Basic instruments) is the fact both bands would wear Chelsea boots. And that was extremely common in their kind of scene so like. Doesn't even matter. Also drugs but again common.
Tldr: The Monkees and The Beatles made very different music and it's weird to me that The Monkees are still (to some) considered "just Beatles rip-offs"
Edit: To clarify, I know The Monkees were made because of The Beatles. I'm not saying people compared the two with little reasoning other than the fact they were both popular 60s bands.
Look at this photo I just found of Jones!! 😭❤️
Great art!
Happy monkee monday to all who celebrate
Some big traditional fanart of The Monkees I did for my grade 10 art final last year. I did use @autmnalmanac 's Monkee fanart for poses and background for the drawings at the bottom. And I used @saveferris 's Monkee fanart to draw whatever Micky is holding in the doctor scene. Because I couldn't for the life of me figure out how to draw it when I was watching the footage.
I really got to thinking about how little Davy was... So I compared him and me. He was. 5'3". About 120 lbs..... i' m 5'2". And about 130 give or take a pound or two... So...He was only an inch taller than me and 10 lbs. Lighter... He was quite small, I never really thought about it till today... Quite small and unbelievably gorgeous 🥰
