McKinnon Family

It’s Canon that the Mckinnon’s are a large family of skilled witches and wizards.

So here’s my McKinnon family headcanons:

Marlene’s dads first marriage was an arranged marriage between another well-respected half-blood family

Her dad is the third of four brothers

Marlene’s dad was a super skilled student while at Hogwarts and was even head boy

Mr. Mckinnon’s first wife was head girl and they actually became good friends throughout their marriage

They had three kids, two girls and one boy

It went; girl, boy, girl

Then Mr. Mckinnon’s ex wife realized she was a lesbian

And by that point both Marlene’s dad and his ex wife were just like screw our parents wishes, and they separated

But they remained really good friends and are healthy co-parents

So Marlene has a really cool aunt/godmother/?step-mom?

She is Marlene and her little siblings godmother

Marlene’s mother is a muggle

So at first her parents marriage was really scandalous amongst her paternal grandparents

But they got over it and actually have a decent relationship with Marlene’s mother

Marlene is the first kid between both her parents

She has two little brothers

The brother after her is a lot like Marlene

While their youngest is like this angel

Marlene’s older siblings are super cool too

Her older sister (9) gave Marlene her first piercings when she was only 5 and she used the apple and needle method

They were only the standard piercings

Marlene’s eldest sister (12)was watching them and their brother (10) and was horrified when she found out

Marlene’s godmother was the first to see them and she was shocked as well

Marlene’s little brother (3) kept pulling at them

Her little brother liked them so much Marlene promised to get him some piercings too

But they all got into a lot of trouble that day so that didn’t happen for a while

But Marlene (10) did end up giving her brother (8) piercings

He just got a couple studs but he really liked them

then their littlest brother (5) wanted one

So they just gave him a stud in his right ear

Their older sister (14) was very impressed

Their eldest sister (17) had flashbacks

And their older brother (15) had Marlene give him a nose piercing (just a stud, though Marlene offered to do a nose piercing)

Marlene also had to babysit a lot

It was either her brothers or her nieces and nephews

puppy love and flowers — remus lupin

▸summary: he's absolutely sure he loves you. he's absolutely sure you love him. flowers aren't given to just anybody.

REMUS LUPIN WAS a sucker for a good bouquet. He'd always want to give them to you, yet he could never find the moment. There'd always be something that would stop him.

Today was one of the days where his plans were smudged.

It was a Hogsmeade day, so naturally, he with his posse decided to head into the town to scope out bouquets. There was one he'd seen little bit ago that he was fidgeting to buy. It was a beautiful set of red and white roses with baby's breath surrounding them. They were your favourite flowers.

Sirius Black had never felt so depressed than when he had watched his friends realise that the 'sold out' sign was for the bouquet he wanted to get for you. He felt so out of place when Remus looked like he had just been deprived of his natural resource of chocolate.

"Why not just get her different flowers?" the Black boy asked, awkwardness coating his very body in a tense feeling.

Remus sighed. "But those were for her. They were like, specifically crafted just so that she could have them. And now they're gone. And I still haven't gotten her flowers!"

James sympathised more with Remus that Sirius could. James often got flower for Lily from this very shop. Albeit, she always threw them out when she got them, but it was the thought that counted. Peter didn't say anything. He was too busy drawing stars in the snow.

The bespectacled boy put his hand on Remus' shoulder, noticing his friend's eyes welling with tears. "It's alright, mate. There's always tomorrow. And the next day. And the next day."

"But I wanted to get her those today."

There was something so frustrating about not getting something done on the day you planned. You'd feel so incomplete in your tasks, and he'd never get to sleep tonight. Well, he might drift off if he cried long enough.

The walk back to the dorms was long and awkward and tense and depressing. There were so many emotions. Remus has just been thwarted yet again in his attempts to woo you. Peter was plucking the snow off of his mittens one by one.

"Damn, mate, you are so in deep," Sirius teased, trying to lighten the mood. "I mean, I've heard of puppy love, but this just takes the cake."

"Is that supposed to be a pun?" Remus muttered. It was kinda funny.

"I suppose so."

They had only gotten to the dorm when they heard the girls. They were laughing. No, hang on. They were shrieking. And... sneezing?

The four boys entered the common room to find Lily and Marlene holding onto furniture for dear life, their faces as red as their ties. Marlene tried to heave in a breath and little was wiping her face.

And then you sneezed. They erupted into laughter again.

"What on earth is going on?" James asked, confusion filling his bloodstream. The girls couldn't find the words, too busy giggling, so you decided to speak.

"I bought flowers for Remus," you started, your nose stuffed, "and I have just found out that I am, in fact, deathly allergic to flowers."

You sneezed again. The girls didn't completely fall apart, but they still chuckled.

Remus looked at you with those big eyes of his. "You got me flowers?"

"Yeah," you said sheepishly. "I though it'd be a nice surprise, but now I'm covered in snot, my nose and throat hurts, my head kinda aches, and my eyes are red."

You sneezed, and Remus started laughing. He rested his head on your shoulder, despite your protests.

"How did you never realise you had a tendency to get hay fever?" Sirius asked, trying to stifle his own chuckles.

"I don't know. It doesn't get this bad at home. The flowers there are small, and here, I don't go out much in the spring. It's too warm. Plus, it's not like I get up close and personal with flowers now, do I?"

"Yeah, but still. It's hay fever, it's a pretty common thing."

"Like I said," you sneezed again, away from Remus' face, "there just wasn't enough for me to notice." You paused for a second. "I always wondered why I got the sniffles in the springtime. I thought it was just spring colds."

James grinned. "Well, now you know."

You sneezed twice more, Remus brushing the hair out of your sweaty face.

"I think we need to rescue you from your natural foe." He guided you by the hand outside of the common room, and he stole a glance back at the flowers you had bought for him, his heart swelling.

Is there a marauders character with avoidant attachment style that I can blame being a kinnie on? Or do I just need to accept that this is the way I am??

I’d also like to mentions the Pinterest pins I keep seeing that say “Marauders fan when you express your opinions” or “The Marauder fandom when you have a hc that doesn’t match theirs”

And then their headcanons are all the same: everyone is straight. Their OTP is Jily, and I’m NOT dogging on Jily, it’s an adorable ship, but they make it like every other straight ship in existence. Simultaneously, these are the same ppl replying to comments on their pins that say “why? /gen” and the reply is always a variation of “honestly I hate wolfstar like it’s such a dumb ship”

Isn’t that… hypocritical?? Are you not hating on opinions and headcanons yourself? Obviously, this is a generalization, and there are some ppl that have respectful opinions that are overshadowed by the ppl like this who have either non-sensical reason or none at all.

Before I say anything else, I want to preface this by saying that everyone can have their ideas and headcanons about characters, you do you. So what I think we need to talk about is things like this:

“Omg no, the Marauders are definetly all straight, wydm??” “In canon they’re all cishet, can we keep that?” “Why is every single character some form of gay?”

In canon, little is known about them, but that’s not my point. This fandom is made up by 90% queer people that are making representation for themselves in media, because in said media, most of the “representation” is just one stereotypical queer person so the production team can claim they’re not homophobic. So when you take representation made by queer people for queer people and start packing it back into the same cishet boxes in was in before, you’re taking something that wasn’t made for you, and altering it to fit in a way you like. This sub-fandom wasn’t made by queer people so that straight people could take it and rewire it to fit them. Some *specific* instances of this are asexual Evan Rosier, trans Regulus Black, pansexual James Potter, and aroace Peter Pettigrew. While I’m not sure if this was representation some in this fandom made for themselves or others, it’s still important. What I’m really trying to say (it’s 12:36 at night, please) is that this fandom wasn’t made for straight people.

Marlene McKinnon isn’t headcanoned to be a lesbian so a weird uncle named Fred could fetishize her, she’s headcanoned to be a lesbian so that a 14 year old girl could see a character like her and feel seen. Sirius Black is not headcanoned to be gay/bi so a lonely wine mom could sexualize him. He’s headcanoned to be gay/bi so that a teenaged boy doesn’t feel so weird anymore.

Again, it’s okay to headcanon whoever to want to be this that or the other, that’s not what I’m addressing. It’s making everyone the same carbon copies of straight, white, and cis.

I want to introduce u to my marauders era au i have been cooking for like a year? two years?

if i put it simply, its just about all of them living together, aka the ultimate “everything is good” au, like i mean it, this would have NEVER happen in canon, and its SO FAR from canon (like it changes everything in the books, and the golden trio era so) be warned🤞

i havent decided if voldemort just straight up doesnt exist, or if he does but marauders arent the “main characters” anymore, if you get what i mean

but anyways let me present “the black manor au”

1976

first conversation about moving in together between sirius, remus, james and peter, theyre 17/16 in their dorm in the gryffindor tower, all being very jokey haha sure! sirius was serious though😔 (i also imagine they were maybe a bit tipsy, just very teenagery convo)

“and while were at it! let everyone move in! lily, mary, you know, the girls, ill even welcome regulus in! and bka bla bla”

“sure sirius sure, lets get you back to bed grandma”

1977

theyre 17/18, lily and james are dating, all of them are graduating, remus or peter or someone mentions that they really do not want to go back to living with their parents and sirius is like! wait! dont yall remember what i proposed to you all😔, and theyre like i mean it wouldn be niceee but its not really realistic is it? and hes like! why! not! him and james alone are rich enough to support their group alone so? why not? all of them agree a little more with the idea, but noone moves in utill next year

1978

they have been hogwarts graduates for a year and all of them are living separately, they visit each other alllll the time though, the economy is hard and like half of them are searching for jobs still.

peter ends up sleeping on a couch at remus and sirius’s(?) apartment, james and lily have a hard time finding a house, because somehow theres just no houses? and the topic comes up for the third and final time, this time its because siriuss[?) uncle had left him this big ass manor somewhere in the coutryside, its a temporary solution that sirous comes up with, and everyone moves in “until they find a good place for them”

they have been living very happily in the manor for a year and still noone found any good house listings (the secret is that everyone kinda stopped looking about half a year in, they just havent told eachother) since the manor is so big each of the couples have like a whole wing for themselves and its crazy. marlene and dorcas are over all the time on visits and have claimed one of the guest bedrooms as their own, they still live in their own apartment. mary comes in one day with bags in hands and moves in, all she says is that she broke up with her partner and cant be bothered to look for a place to live right now, she is welcomed in with open arms, also lily finds out shes pregnant!

plottwist! the house was left not only to sirius but to regulus also, a week after dorcas and marlene moved in because of their new insufferable neighbors, regulus walks in with papers in hand talking about how the house is half his and sirius is like whaaaaat, nobody (except sirius) knew about this before, this conflict drags on, but in the end they decide that since the manor is so big i guess they could share🙄 howerver regulus does not move in for another year and in the meantime harry is born hurray! and dean is also! mary found out at the beginning of the year thwt she is pregnant with her ex partner and well, dean is born. and james and lily get married yay

1981

there are now eight people living in this manor, alongside two children, but little did they know, this will be the year they will gain five more roomates and two new children. 

on a random day in march they woke up to regulus moving in, and to their horror the whole gang is moving in also, i mean regulus is hard enough to deal with but the whole pantheon? AND XENOPHILIUS? nu uh. dorcas is estatic though and she is very exited to see all of her friends every day again. but, theyre all adults now, and regulus, evan, barty and pandora have been visiting dorcas pretty regularly and they are on so much better terms then they have been at in school, so while the change is not exactly celebrated, it is not that bad. peter has been dating sibyll for a few years now. 

marlenes brother has died in a car crash, and while she wasnt that in touch witch her family, she was devasted, a week after the news a person showed up with a baby, apparently her nephew, saying that every one of her brothers has given up their rights and marlene is the onyl choice before putting the kid to foster care, even though marlene didnt really want a kid (or rather wasnt planning one) she took him in, deciding to raise him with dorcas. also this year luna is born. AND lily finds out shes pregnant again, AND sibyll finds out shes preggo also

following the news of sibyls pregnancy she moves in a few months before birth, making the number of the people living in 14. little jasmine (james and lilys daughter) was born at the beginning of the year, and hecate (peters and sibyls) was born in summer. other than that the year wasnt really eventful, nobody else moved in, noone died and so on, harry dean and lee celebrated their second birthday, while luna celebrated her first. all of the residents have warmed up to each other, really making it feel like a found family

in the middle of the year, barty and evan have arrived home from work (aurors or something like that, but they would NEVER have been aurors but like i really dont know what else) shaken up and with a seven year old boy (oliver (wood)) apparently they were working on some case with a bad evil wizard booo and oh no! he has children! since both of them have been raised in similar conditions they have seen themself in the kid and something something they had to save him so out of nowhere there is oliver. it took a long time but since his father is awful, he had been placed in their care, but not just him! no no, he has a little sister, and since we cant separate siblings, little four year old skylla has joined oliver and moved in. they are very close, even if they are three years apart they sometimes act like twins. and now there are eight children running around!

keep in mind this is only an introduction🙏, since i have been thinking about this for years, i have even the new next gen planned out like i have SO MUCH thoughts about this au its crazy🙌
