i’ve never had korean bbq before, or ANY form of bbq.. i’m a historically picky and nervous eater <:D
but it should be easy to try new things when i’ve got all my friends around to support me
also if THIS ^^^^ is one of the options at the place we’re going to, IM SOOOO MUNCHING ON THAT >3< THAT LOOKS DEEELISH!
“Maybe I should just try the ingredients on their own first,” I think, imagining myself blankly staring at the wall while chewing a dry piece of lettuce in my apartment in total silence
Being a picky eater as an adult is so hard because I’m TRYING to expand my pallet, but every time I look up a recipe it’s like “this meal’s so quick and easy! It only takes 3 1/2 hours of prep, 6 hours of cook time, and 45 minutes to plate :) There are fifty ingredients, half of which you’ve literally never had in your life :) so if you don’t like this recipe or you forget to make it, I guess you’ll just have to throw out $50 worth of food that you have literally no other use for!! Have fun, super easy for new cooks, super fun and easy and quick :))))”

Does anyone with food sensitivities ever get food they like delivered and after meticulously looking through it to make sure it's safe to eat you take a bite and feel the crunch of an onion. Me: Screaming, crying, gagging, heaving, entire body crinkles like aluminum foil.
Just me? ok cool
hi tumblr. i’m currently sitting next to my mom as i type this. i’m at my sisters tennis thing, my dad told me to take videos and i’ve taken none… i hope she goes back on (i don’t think she will, am i cooked yes or no??) im sitting on bleachers right now, they’re black and green. not exactly the comfortablest. there’s an easter thing going on and they’re playing some fuckass christian music and it’s bad. so glad i have my headphones. currently listening to control by puddle of mudd. song ends like right now though. will update on what song comes on next hold on. ……………………….………… the song is ROCKET QUEEN BY GNR THIS IS THE BEST DAY EVER!!!!
got some ice cream with my mom earlier, i need to remember not to get whole milk in my shake. it doesn’t taste very good. not saying the shake was bad, but i really need to ask for 2%. i got cookies and cream shake with no whip cream because i don’t like whip cream. it’s just not yum. i’m super picky, i think. should make a post on stuff i won’t eat maybe?? phone is currently at 20%
Y'know, I'd really appreciate it if restraunts had some menu item called, "the Picky Eater," that's just the plainest meal they have (a plain and dry burger, a hotdog with nothing on it, a taco with only beef). I wouldn't even care about the name; having to explicitly tell the server, "no pickle, no onion, no..." makes me feel selfish and needy. Plus it opens up the possibility of them getting it wrong and now I have to choose between asking for another to meet "my special needs" or just starving. It's small, but this could so easily be avoided; so why isn't it?
okay fellow autistics & people who have sensory issues or trouble eating specific foods: hear me out.
I’ve been trying my best to eat more fruits & vegetables & more generally “healthy” food (I don’t think we should label specific foods as “good” or “bad” because food at all is better than no food etc, but that’s besides the point) & I’ve realised something.
If I pretend to be a specific animal while eating a certain food, it can be marginally easier to eat. HEAR ME OUT, OKAY?! Put away the reactionary part of you that goes “wow, that’s cringe”, because this genuinely helps me. I don’t care if you laugh, grow up.
For example, if I pretend I’m a bunny rabbit while eating celery or lettuce, it sort of becomes fun! It turns into me playing a part in my head, kind of. I also do this with sultana bran/raisin bran kind of cereal, where I’m like “hehe this looks like bird/rabbit food” & it becomes easier!
I just thought I’d share this trick in case it helps anyone else. It’s alright if it doesn’t help you, but I’m proud of the efforts you’re making to get better at eating certain foods, it’s not easy. & if you’re finding it hard to start trying foods out of your comfort zone, I’m proud of you as well 💕💕
