The woe of being into old shows that have since gotten a TV show or movie reboot so all I see when I look it up is the reboot 😔
I do love that scene in the man trap where uhura chastises spock for not reacting emotionally to a dead crewman because it could be kirk and "he's the closest thing you have to a friend" all the while spock has spent the entire time since the death announcement looking like he's about to throw up.
Spock why are you looking at him like that. Answer me, Spock.

Ok but with modern medicine being as far advanced as it is the lirpa cuts could have easily been healed with no scarring. That means he kept the scars on purpose, likely due to their sentimental value of them being from spock's first pon farr and I for one love that notion.
"Well, yes, I am trans, but why do you ask? Oh the scar? No, no, my top surgery didn't leave any scars- modern medicine is a miracle. No, this is from when my husband swung a lirpa at me because he was filled with horny bloodlust."

He won second place in an all-Vulcan music competition for playing the lyre. When asked who took the first place he said “my father”.

Bare Your Faces of the Veil by flippyspoon - TOS - spock gets split into human and vulcan halves and he is really dead forever (until he isnt). this one actually got me misting up, it was awful, and it's more kirk-centric, but it's really good
anchor by Sir_Bedevere - TOS - post plato's stepchildren coda. it's again mostly kirk but also very quiet and a really good comedown from All Of That
The Black Knight and the Moon by Waid - AOS - pon farr fic will absolutely fuck you up. double read the warnings on this one bc it's not just sad it's EXTREMELY upsetting, intentionally extremely upsetting, but it's probably the best characterized AOS spirk fic and most realistic thought experiment i've ever read
Grief as a four-dimensional figure by Moreta1848 - mostly AOS with some TVH elements - everyone goes back in time to try and save vulcan. GREAT spock stuff in this one. i bonus rec most of this author's stuff actually (they have an au of earth being hit instead of vulcan in aos and tos intersex spock) - a lot of it is verrry long but i read as they update so the little pieces are fine.
Cosmic Fuck series by Gayle F - 1 2 3 4 - TOS - this is just straight smut, but it's VINTAGE smut, and also first fic to feature the famous vulcan double ridges. the last one is the first ever kirk/spock/bones (sorry i know you said spirk) so it's just full of historical relevance. sometimes the smut gets a little weird (the first fic is technically a dubcon situation because of pon farr and in the last fic they get off on a tangent about toe-sucking) and since it's not tagged you do have to go in a little blind. i've only read the middle two once and don't remember them well (so i can't help you out with warnings) but i reread the last one alllll the time. it's a really refreshing writing voice and feels so different from fanfic today wrt to how it talks about sexuality. the final fic (SORRY AGAIN) stands well on its own and is actually my fav TOS fic of all time <3

I love listening to music to get inspired. This has manifested itself into playlists for the main seven in TOS and AOS. I don't have playlists for specific ships just because I have so many so all the songs for all my ships for a certain character are an amalgamation of angst and fluff!

My roommate and I are rewatching TOS and we noticed that Uhura likes to appear onscreen with objects that are not necessarily hers. In early episodes we see her in command gold instead of her iconic red uniform. I first suggested a laundry mishap but after seeing her play Spock's lyre (in The Conscience of a King), it all started to make sense.
Uhura is a klepto.

On Leonard McCoy
An old rant I made dedicated to my favorite doctor
You see, I have fallen in love with every single one of the characters in Star Trek, they all have such diverse personalities and fun quirks that makes them so enjoyable to watch, read about, and even just think about.
They have become iconic through generations, and I love every single one of them. And to think of the impact that they have achieved on the world and how society is today, is unbelievable. Truly incredible.
Now, with these said, I love all of them, but right now let me talk about our dear southern ol’ country doctor.
Dr. Leonard Horatio “Bones” McCoy, nicknamed bones (a variation of sawbones, a term used for doctors back in the day) by none other than his life long friend Jim Kirk.
He is wonderful. And he is a character that goes through so much pain. They all do, of course. Who can forget the racism Spock ensued, and the tragedy of seeing a massacre when Jim was still young. But right now, let’s tak about McCoy.
He was a simple man, an emotional and irrational man in comparison to the logical Spock, who he always has philosophical arguments with (which I really enjoy watching), yet one of the smartest men in the Star Trek universe. In comparison to his colleagues, he is a simple man. He grew up on earth, studied to be a surgeon at a regular school, yet still with his incredible wit became the chief medical officer aboard the most famous spaceship in all the federation, the USS Enterprise.
As said, he has his friends and colleagues, yet something we are always able to tell, is the feeling of loneliness that bones always carries around with him. He has an ex-wife, and a daughter that barely speaks to him. Apart from his crew mates, he is utterly alone. And him, being such a warm, kind hearted, caring, and loving individual, doesn’t let show how badly the lack of romantic love in his life affects him. Which it does. So much that in the last episode I watched “for the world is hollow and I have touched the sky” he was about to marry a woman he has just met, just because she was besotted with him and because he was convinced he was going to die of a terminal illness and his whole life had been lived without love. Nothing shows how badly alone a person has felt their whole life, than this. An excerpt taken directly from the episode:
NATIRA: You have lived a lonely life? MCCOY: Yes, very lonely.
It is probably because of this loneliness, that he carries himself around with a grumpy exterior. But anyone that knows him, knows that is not how he really is. This man always carries himself with such joy when it comes to his patients and his friends. A truly remarkable trait. Something I personally admire deeply.
Apart form his sadness and grumpiness, what this shows is that Bones is the most human of them all. Jim and Spock, even with Spock not even being a human, assert their humanity a lot, which is wonderful. But out of the three of them, the one that was created to act as a moral compass, and the heart, was bones. He is the most human of them all, and I like to show these with quotes said directly by him.
“"Jim, every doctor and nurse from here to the Rim lives in hope that one day we'll wake up and find that everybody in the Universe is perfectly healthy and in possession of a signed certificate from God saying that they're going to die peacefully in their sleep. Then we can all retire and go fishing”
"You see, I feel sorrier for you than I do for him because you'll never know the things that love can drive a man to. The ecstasies, the miseries, the broken rules, the desperate chances, the glorious failures, the glorious victories. All of these things you'll never know simply because the word love isn't written into your book."
Apart form this, it has been shown countless times, that he has a strict moral compass which he follows even more than the rules, something a true heart would do

He is human, kind, caring, intelligent, and very very fun. He is a joy to watch on screen and the way he interacts with other characters just gives me life.
And yet again, he always feels alone. No love in his life, except for the few people that appreciate him and have the pleasure of calling themselves his friends.
I cannot explain, but he is wonderful, a role model, someone we should all aspire to be. And my feelings towards him are those of deep rooted admiration. He always manages to make me smile.
And so here, I leave one of my favorite inspirational quotes said by him:
"In this galaxy there's a mathamatical probability of three million Earth type planets. And in all of the universe, three million million galaxies like this. And in all of that... and perhaps more... only one of each of us."
I have ranted too much. Do forgive me.
This is terribly true. I don't really ship Spirk as much as I ship Spones, but a few tears escaped me while reading it. 😢😢
Oh, poor Spock! How much pain he is suffering!!
Spock is my favourite character (McCoy as well). I am a very sensitive and empathic person, so I could feel the emotions you mencioned. Such a wonderful analysis!! I LOVE!!!
And also the dedication of Nimoy developing his character... I wish there were more actors like him ❤️❤️
We all know that the song Maiden Wine slaps, but I was wondering about what it actually means. And then I realized— if we take a minute to consider it in the context of Kirk and Spock’s relationship, it takes on a heartbreaking significance.
