group outings to old historical buildings and libraries
the looks given to each other when you already know the material from spending your spare time in the library together, reading it for fun
musing with one another in a language that noone around understands (preferably latin)
quoting philosophers and authors during casual conversation
swooning together about the overpriced tweed jacket you saw in the window
looking over your opposing balconies and flying paper plane notes with inscriptions to one another
inspired by a post i saw on pinterest but didn’t get the chance to pin because i lost it in the depths of my feed ~Amimi

- The Secret History by Donna Tartt - Absolutely anything by Oscar Wilde - Harry Potter - preferably all in one sitting (idgaf what anyone says its da) - Shakespeare, absolute classic because.. shakespeare - Allegorical Novels (like AnimAl faRm) - so you can look smart while discussing politics and microcosms @mohkomx - Edgar Allan Poe (dark poetry is hauntingly enticing) - The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (not da,just my own recommendation) - Hugo Caberet (again my own recommendation - Brian Selznick is a genius) - anything by Brian Selznick (just for good measure) i hope you liked this post! hey hey hey! so i was holding off on this post since at first i didn’t really want to just tell you what to buy and you go off and get it. n o. n o. n o. that’s not how we do it here. instead i’m going to make a few suggestions and things that may aspire you so you can adapt and play with these to suit yourself! alright so first things first: c o l o u r s - think autumn (the season where all dark academics come out from their underground hideouts and late night cafes and explore the surface) - think maroons and dark plumes, oranges and mustards, reds of all different shades (we like to keep it diverse here) and dark greens next things next: items of clothing i think as long as you stick to the color scheme most things should work out fine but a lot of people seem to think turtlenecks and expensive tweed jackets are a must when in reality that’s not the case (tbh all i have is one turtleneck) - think blazers and plaid shirts and denim jackets with wristwatches and pendants - think mom jeans and thin belts and sweaters (mixing it up a lil) or even an off-white tshirt with a fitting print
and last things last: y o u so as much as the dark academia fandom distinctly wears and deems as dark academic i think you should be able to wear whatever you like -you’re here because you like the look and feel of it but what about those who can’t afford it or just don’t feel comfortable? those are my exact thoughts honestly wear what you think suits you at the end of the day stick with the basic colours and/or vibe and boom! academic
just in case your still a bit stuck:

late at night a few days ago i saw a video of the illuminations firework show in paris that made me cry. today i saw a flyer advertising another firework show on the street and i burst out into tears all over again. pretty things and i can’t mix as much as i want them to. or maybe its just fireworks? i really don’t know. oh dear god i just realised how sappy i’m being lol bye ~Amimi
so i’ve just started putting in effort to make all my notes in all subjects neat and have figured out the following things: - writing scrawled across notebook pages are aesthetic too - its not just for the aesthetic it actually really helps in studying too and most importantly you don’t need expensive stationary honestly anything will do. for the dark academics and studyblrs who aren’t able to afford muji pens and stabilo highlighters here are a few tips - a pen and a ruler (and maybe a single colored pen and/or highlighter) will be more than enough - be creative with what you already have ( writing your title and subheadings differently with a lil effort or a cloud bubble round a key fact can make all the difference believe it or not) if you really really want pastels and such here’s some dupes highlighters: https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-chunky-pastel-highlighter-4-pack/p/0481344
https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/wilko-slim-highlighters-pastel-4-pack/p/0481346 https://www.therange.co.uk/stationery/pens-and-pencils/pens/highlighters/pack-of-six-pastel-highlighters/?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIjtfZ3IC25gIVx7HtCh1uoQOUEAQYCSABEgJAOfD_BwE#203958 pens: i honestly think any good pen will do (when i say good i mean a pen that doesn’t smudge and runs relatively smooth ) so basically any ballpoint pen but if ya really wanna know then these are the ones i’ve been using lately https://www.wilko.com/en-uk/paper-mate-inkjoy-black-ballpoint-pens-8-pack/p/0432408 not the exact ones but as close as i could find i hope you found this post helpful! ~til next time Amimi

I hate it when your parents are like “I know you better than you know yourself!” Like no you don’t
Few of my favourite things from the fashion of dark academia
1. stand in the middle of a lake staring at the way the moonlight reflects off the blood on your hands
2. start using words with more syllables because it sounds smarter and you need everyone to know how smart you are so they won’t know you bribed your way into the gentleman’s club
3. cover your chin with a black scarf so people can’t see the scar you got from turning the pages of the encyclopaedia too quickly
4. clutter your room with things that you bought from old charity shops, so you can watch them collect dust (and so you won’t have to look at that mysterious red stain on the floor)
5. buy a coffin to sleep in (you can find one secondhand if it’s too expensive - don’t worry, that just adds to the mystique).
6. string balls of cosy yarn across the floor, lest any intruders come. this way, you can catch them easily.
7. spell your name wrong to prevent identity theft
8. cut all your hair off in an attempt to become someone else and then send the locks to your neighbours (don’t provide context)
9. dig yourself a grave four feet to the left of the nearest skyscraper
10. don’t look behind your shoulder or you’ll see her. donna.
you know when you kinda want to read and kinda want to write and kinda want to draw and kinda want to sing but it's late and you're tired and it's more like a desperate desire to really deeply dream
hey hey hey! paris was awesome! took a bunch of polaroids so the aesthetic is on fleek. disneyland really was awesome, best part of the trip for sure! i cried so badly at the Illuminations light and firework show that i forgot to take a picture. my first time seeing fireworks! i ended up standing there in utter awe and sobbing hysterically while staring at the pretty pretty pretty lights -although, the hotel was awful, dirty bedsheets gave me an acne breakout and there was a cockroach and the worlds biggest spider hiding in the corners on the ceiling and i vomited on the ferry and the coach to the horror of the girl sitting next to me, she was cool though, she let me sleep on her shoulder and seemed unfazed by it all, im not going to let those things ruin it for me, rather i’d prefer to look back at the trip fondly. overall it was awesome
Note to self: Next time bring your own bedsheets and sick tablets ~Amimi
I’m considering mixing in a bunch of studyblry things into this blog, should i?
Winter is here!! Going on a trip to Paris today, dear god. The fashion, the colors, buildings and such everything is just so aesthetically pleasing. I’ll be sure to post all about it when I’m back on Sunday Til then ~Amimi
i met autumn by the cobblestone path while the trees bled onto the earth. she lingered for a while, kicking her shoes against the withering flowers, as the bittersweet wind filled the perfumed air of spice and firewood. 🍂

the rain slips from stone unto my skin, while the musk of coffee trails behind each step, as the old books in my cotton bag are kissed by the rain themselves.

who wants to make a hidden society of the arts with me? who wants to wear old tweed blazers, blouses, dress pants, black stockings and oxfords with me? we can meet in the same tiny cafe or in a hidden bar. we can paint, compose music, write poetry, stories, read to each other, learn and teach each other languages, new and old, existing and made up. we can critique each other’s work over a coffee or glass of red wine. we can discuss ancient and modern history, artists, writers, old and new composers. we can read newspapers, write journals, learn about what is happening in the world. we can be the silent academic rebels of society. we can make history. both boys and girls, we can be a brotherhood. an alliance. we can change the world
Here's to the ones that dream Foolish as they may seem Here's to the hearts that break Here's to the mess we make
La La Land, Written by Damien Chazelle
Isn’t it funny how humanity seems to have a knack for turning anything into art? Clothes became fashion, buildings became architecture, plants became gardens, the list goes on.
The way humans romaniticize and find beauty in everything is adorable.
