17.5.2020 // Sunday
Woke up past 10am today and felt kinda shitty (which I usually do when I wake up late); but I pushed myself through an hour of cardio, made myself a nice hearty lunch and managed to finish one lesson of Korean notes! As the Movement Control Order extends to another month I really wanted to make full use of it so I started taking foreign-language-learning seriously. Hoping this momentum continues and I donโt slack off halfway.
I hope youโre adjusting well to the new normal, sending my best wishes! ๐โจ
Messy study tip: Study with a blank piece of paper near you so you can jot down concepts you need to investiagte further/go back to. It helps you remember to review them later as you go through practice, but it stops you from distracting yourself everytime you find a concept you need to review.
i read โa little lifeโ by hanya yanagihara a few weeks ago and i canโt stop thinking about it. i made a bullet journal spread to express my feelings and a playlist as well. i wish i could put the book in these pictures but iโve already lent it to a friend !
If youโd ever decide to suddenly try doing a high intensity working out, let me give you a few words of advice. Do your stretches like a prayer. Because I didnโt. And now Iโm in so. Much. Physical. PAIN.ย
My weekend was fun regardless the screaming burn in my body. Luckily, my ever so cooperative arms and hands are always able to deliver. Hereโs my page of the week!ย ๐ฅ
This week, I tried to add in more color by using some colorful tape I found in our stationery box. I couldnโt use markers because I tried all sorts of it on this one, but it always bleeds through. Also, Iโll stop trying to use the neon yellow pen because it really has a bad contrast to white. You might be thinking, well, duh. But I really wanted the stars to be yellow! :cย
Anyway, Iโll probably be adding more doodles and stickers in eventually, but d e s p a c i t oย . ๐ถ sย l o w l y y yyyย
My goals are somewhat steadier now at this point. Main keys are exercise, cleaning, and learning! The main focus when I do my tasks for this week is to find a suitable pacing. So yes, adjustments~!ย
Thatโs all for now, and Iโm hoping for a great week ahead for yaโll!ย

i'm not journaling as often as i used to and i'm really okay with it. i guess what i want to say is that you don't have to be creative when you don't feel like it. it's as simple as that. to be able to enjoy your journey, you have to listen to yourself and honor your process.
not to sound hippie, but sometimes you really have to pick yourself up if you want to get better or do better. So much of your future is up to you, what YOU decide to do with your time, what YOU decide to practice and preach. Standing behind jealous of the people with drive or the people going places wonโt do anything but leave you bitter. Sometimes youโve literally got to look at where you are, whether youโre crying, lonely, upset with your progress or whatever, mentally brush yourself off, make a game plan and set off!ย
spring quarter is staring off with an unusual start. through all of the uncertainty, itโs key for me to stay in a healthy routine in order to feel sane right now. grateful for a safe place to call my second home, water, electricity, and technology now more than ever before!
now listening:ย
wish you were sober- conan gray
Hey phoebe, I have no choice but to keep up with my coursework and I'm having a hard time. Since the Covid lockdown began I've lost motivation, along with my appetite and the will to get out of bed before noon. My brain's in a fog of worry and sadness but I'm not sure how to push past it or stop beating myself up for not being productive.
wow that sounds so tough, my love. I would so recommend reaching out to mental health resources for online counselling such as beyondblue to help with your struggles. Itโs not easy being in that place and the best thing you could do for yourself is seek professional guidance.ย
Other things that help with low moods are setting a routine that involves:
- messaging friends and family (social fulfilment) - exercise (even 10 mins, try and get your heart rate up!) - journaling (get those unhelpful thoughts out of your head and onto paper) - to-do lists of a max of 3 things per day (It can be even as small as making your bed or having a shower) -self comfort (do things for you PURELY because you like it and you find joy in it, eg. watch a show you like, take a bath, these things don't have to be treated as rewards, you deserve to feel good)
You do NOT have to be productive every moment of every day. Start small and build back up. Set an alarm for 11am, make your bed and grab some water. That can be where you start, you are only human, my love. Be gentle with yourself, get one thing done at a time because that is all you can do. Focus on one task at a time till completion and thank yourself for taking time to do that for yourself. Everything you do is in appreciation of you and the opportunity you have been given to do the things you choose. I know what itโs like to be where you are, to have lost all sense of happiness and self. Build yourself up and start small, the first step is talking with loved ones about it. Itโs easier to care for yourself once you realise that other people do as well, to remember you are valued, because I promise you, you are. <3 I love you. Please stay safe.

and recs for podcasts/songs/musicals?
I started a new vocab book! Finally! I am so excited because Iโve been stuck on that ์์ TOPIK book for so long, but finally pushed through and memorized all the words that were left. I really like this new book pictured on the left (ํ ํฝ ์ดํ 2300) because they organize it by themes rather than going alphabetically. Itโs also bigger and feels much more like a textbook, which I love. Going to try to finish this book in two months!

โ 12.03.2019 // enjoy this november monthly that I created, loved, and then totally neglected hahaha does anyone else do that? i'm not sure why but i didn't use my bujo too much in november so sadly this spread will remain nearly-blank :/
- write down a list of goals and habits you want to implement in your life.ย
- meditate. lay down, alone with your thoughts, left to truly think and have time with your conscious mind unoccupied by distraction. take the time to actually listen to yourself with undivided attention
- engage in yoga. stretch.
- write down what you're grateful for
- take a shower. put on freshly-scented lotion. refresh and restart.
- do laundry. clean outย and organize your clothes, donate some
- refresh and restart your phone, laptop, desktop, etc. clean out and organize your files, applications, layout, etc. filter out your social media from youtube to instagram to twitter to contain content towards your betterment
- call your family and friends. have a discussion, talk to them, laugh with them
- hang out with your friends. have a study session orย just be together asย you all sketch, paint, journal, eat
- listen to podcasts for personal growth and development. humor, health, productivity, any kind of podcast.
- clean and reorganize your home. clean out the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, etc. rearrange and design them. let your home reflect you. give it a breath of fresh air with change, whether small or big
- plan out your week // bullet journal
- learn. learn a new language, take out a notebook, write notes, listen to audios, practice. learn another programming language. learn about the history of islam. learn cryptography and encryption. learn anything that excites you, that betters you
- get a blanket and go out and lie in nature
- read. read a book on personal development, read a book in a foreign language, read a book about history, read articles about the most random things or articles catered to your interests, to self growth, to the present world today. read to learn.
- go out and volunteer. contribute to and for good. help out at a homeless shelter, help with a sustainability project or beach clean up, aid and provide comfort and ease to the elderly, sick, and young
- sit down. read the quran. reflect andย understand.
- go on a bike ride. take in the air that hits you, the side conversations that leave your hearing just as quickly as they enter, take in the moment.
one could see this just as a list of stuff to do, and it basically is. but for me, it's a multitude of opportunities to grow, to better, to breath, to live. I'd like to spend my time actually living, doing good, growing, being conscious and present, so here are some notes to myself, and hopefully you.
