I need to start actually reading comics so here's me asking what to start with and recs! I would like to read DC, Superman, Batman, and Robin, Young Justice, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern! I know there is a lot out there so I need help sorting through it!
I need more of Martha and Jonathan being willing fight with nails and teeth for their son. They adore him, he is their miracle child that fell from the sky, their little star.
Being willing to do anything to protect their child, to guard his identity and heart.
I want them getting angry at seeing Clark cry over being perceived as a monster.
They own a farm, that's a great opportunity for getting creative with their protectiveness.
I want this as a fic (preferably with a dash of superbat, because they are my north star)
Meanwhile Clark is oblivious to it all, because his parents are the sweetest people ever.
I don't like the angle the story itself is trying to sell on him but I do think the reactions of the characters inside the story are realistic to what would happen to him in the real word.
Lex Luthor hates him because of his own internalized issues, using him as a scapegoat he can pin blame on. Pretending he hates him due to some higher purpose.
Bruce hates Superman because he doesn't understand him, and people fear what they don't understand. (and in this universe metas became common after Superman appeared so this Batman has no experience with superpowered beings, he didn't slowly increase the powerlevel of the powered being around him, he went from 0 to a 100, and that is scary)
The people who he has saved and cared for love him because they've seen him, they know him.
The people that hate him tend to be people in power or those affected by Black Zero.
He didn't get that much time to make the world know him, he was Superman for like 2 years only, compared to the 20+ he has in the comics.
He is this powerful being that sprung out of knowhere, that is bound to make people afraid, and no ones likes being afraid so they hate.
I think the most realistic part of the movie is the tv scene where people are sitting down and talking about weather he should be allowed to roam free or not.
As if it is moral to deny a sentient being freedom/ autonomy.
Because as much as it sucks to think about it is what would most likely happen if a superman appeared.
People say snyder superman is too angry or gloomy but who the fuck wouldn't if they were subject to hearing people treating them like an object and hating him?
One of the most, if not the most heartbreaking thing I can think of throughout the different Death of Superman stories out there is that 90% of them are being broadcasted through television nationwide.
Which means the Kents are watching their son get bludgeoned to death by a monster, and they can't do anything to stop it.
Imagine watching your child get beaten to death and being able to do nothing but watch.
It is the Kents watching this miracle that fell into their lives get violently ripped away from them.
It is the agony of watching their child grow steadily weaker, of hearing him scream out in pain (they've never heard him scream due to physical agony like this before, they are frozen, the instinct that drives a parent to protect their child rendered useless by the situation), of seeing him covered in his own blood when they've never seen him bleed and knowing they can't do a thing.
It is seeing his body and knowing they have no real way of retrieving him, of giving him a proper burial, knowing people more powerful than them could steal his body and desecrate it, with them being able to do nothing about it.
I've seen a lot of people complain. about it but honestly?
I adore the new suit, it has everything I like in a Superman suit.
The armour like texture that actually looks like it protects him, a regal/elegant look, the finger covering, the golden accents, the semi belt, the longer boots, the shoulder pads (people hate them but i love them) etc.
It represents his growth as a character and i love that too.
I love love the new suit, it is among my favorites ever.
I liked the trunks while they were here but i am kinda glad they are gone.
I am sick and tired of people blaming everything that happened on Clark. Blatantly ignoring the fact he never stood a chance at all and it all was going to happen regardless of the decisions he took.
Nobody, absolutely nobody, not even Batman knew Cyborg was spying on them but somehow the only one that gets blamed for it is Clark.
It wouldn't have mattered if Clark made the best, most perfect plan ever, if Darkside knew their every move.
Even if they had stayed on earth they still would have gotten attacked and killed because the invasion was inevitable, Darkside had his sights on earth since the first movie.
And as Constantine explains, Barry unleashed Darkside into the new timeline, so if you want to point fingers, blame him and his messing of the timeline.
Clark was basically stuck on a car with no brakes on a single road surrounded by walls with a giant truck aiming towards him at full speed.
He never stood a chance at all, he was as much a victim as everyone else.
I find the polar opposite depictions of Jonathan in these stories incredibly fascinating.
MOS Jonathan shields and separates Clark from anything related his heritage, including things like his ship and powers. Encouraging suppresion and caution in Clark.
Actively telling Clark to hide his powers and never use them, scolding him whenever he used them. He is a man terrified of the world taking his son away from him, specially knowing he has no real way of protecting Clark from anything that may seek to harm him. So he encourages him to hide himself and avoid drawing any attention.
He is a more jaded and cynical man, immediately assuming the world would attack and try to kill his son (he ended up being right, which is its own can of worms), would try to rip his miracle child, his star baby away from him.
He only sees a world that would harm the child he so desperately seeks to protect, that child he loves more than anything.
MAWS Jonathan is the complete opposite of his MOS counterpart. He is the one that encouraged Clark to discover himself, to make contact with the ship, to practice his use and control of his powers, even turning that into a game a young Clark could enjoy.
He is aware of the shock Clark´s existence will create but in the end he has faith in humanity seeing Clark for what he truly is, someone who just wants to help others.
He is more optimistic and cheerful, thinking of the best and encouraging other people to do so too.
In MAWS, Martha is the one who is the one who wants to keep Clark away from anything alien, the one that clings to him and wants to keep him hidden.
While Jonathan is cheerful over Clark deciding to go public and help people, Martha is the one that is slightly reluctant (though not to MOS Jonathan´s level, like letting yourself get killed by a tornado because you don´t want your son to expose himself is extreme though somewhat understandable) to let him go, though she eventually gets on board and creates his trunks.
This dicotomy is reflected on Clark´s abilities.
Flight is one of his most characteristic abilities and it often serves as a metaphor for Clark feeling free and accepted, it comes in moments where Clark learns to love and accept himself.
So it is interesting to see how in MAWS it is one of the first he obtains while in MOS it is one of the last ones. Showing the difference in how their settings and enviroments reacted to them.
MAWS is honestly amazing and I am incredibly glad we got this adaptation of the Superman mythos. It is so unique and refreshing. I can´t wait for season 3.
Regardless of its flaws I genuinely love MOS and its depiction of the Kent family. Its different from what we are used to in comics and tv shows, but it offers a unique take on the Kents dealing with Clark´s powers. At the end the day Jonathan is just a father terrified someone will hurt his child and he won´t be able to protect him.
Anyways this ramble has lasted enough, love both pieces of media to bits.
I need more Ghostmaker in Superbat fics. More of him coming in and being an annoying ex.
The tension between Bruce and him is so real, add Clark into the mix and there´s a lot of potential there.
Where´s my angsty 100k fic about them???
Just think of the possibilites!! I need this as a fic.
I am currently writing a fic in which we get to see Superbat developing into a relationship through the eyes of Batman’s Rogues gallery.
In kind of a 5+1 things format.
With each of them having their own opinions and thoughts on the heroe couple. Along with it being an exploration of that respective rogue’s character and relationship with Batman.
So I wanted to ask for suggestions for scenarios on the fic and which rogues I should use.
Superbat Idea
Batman’s enemies find out the Bat has a thing with Metropolis’ reporter Clark Kent. So decide to try to kill him (without success)
He is either always saved by Batman, the shots never land, he survives accidents without problem, the guns used to try to kill him always break or people suffer head injuries before landing their shots.
After so many failed attempts people begin to think Clark is a meta, but with some sort of Luck manipulation ability.
Clark and Bruce catch wind of this and go: task failed successfully I guess.
It certainly wasn’t on my MAWS S2E8 Bingo card. (And Brainiac unfortunately served in that outfit)
Also why is his waist out like that? (I like it)
I can only say “FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK”
Clark baby you deserve so much better.
(Brainiac slayed that outfit though)
I don’t want to rain on anyone’s parade but I feel MAWS’ final villain is going to end up being Doomsday (with an show original backstory), and we all know what Doomsday does.
(It would Also be a nice parallel to S2 E8 name being “The Death of Clark Kent”)
if MAWS Clark dies I would cry a river.
Ya’ll ever hear of a thing called Bisexual lighting?
dc actually had clark wear this outfit +the blue/purple/pink background and yet jon is the confirmed bisexual.......
There’s a deity in Krypton that looks frighteningly like Danny as Ghost King. Superman freezes when he sees the Phantom for the first time because it’s like he was directly taken out of the murals he’s seen of the Kryptonian god.
Kay well I started it impulsively and I need feedback
The league sat at the round table, the current active members watching as Batman went through what seemed like yet another presentation. One had to wonder where the hell he was getting them from, they were awfully detailed and usually meant to aid in his lecturing. Hal, having checked himself out of the meeting twenty minutes ago, constructed a small yo-yo that he rolled about in the air next to him. Barry and Clark both found themselves watching the yo-yo. Although Clark at the very least, pretended to pay attention to the man at the head of the table.
Batman, watching the three as they did just about everything but paying attention to him, rolled his eyes. Only to remember that they couldn’t see him do as such under the cowl. Fighting the urge to run a hand through his undoubtedly greasy hair he cleared his throat. Opting to capture their attention instead. Folding his arms and shifting his stars he narrowed his eyes at the three men. They could play with Hal’s damn ring after the meeting. It wasn’t like it’s go anywhere. Unlike Bruce who was ready to book it to the zeta tubes as soon as this meeting was to end.
“I didn’t realize that mission debriefs were that unimportant gentleman.”
Barry was the first to react, stiffening as he snapped his neck over in Bruce’s direction. Leaving the bat to wonder briefly if it pained the speedster to move that quickly unprovoked. Clark was second, he couldn’t help the sheepish grin he gave the bat when he got caught. He knew the importance of their mission debriefings, but that didn’t make Bruce’s portions any less mind numbing. Hal, being the usual nuisance that he was, found that messing with Bruce was just a little more fun than actually listening.
“Sorry spooky. It’s just that you're not very good at keeping it short and sweet.”
Bruce fights the desire to roll his eyes, he could keep things short and sweet. But he chose not to, he preferred to make sure all the important details were in place as they should be. God forbid he left something out and one of these idiots decided that specific part was the most important thing ever to the current debrief case file.
So what’re we thinking so far? Ass or nah
OKAY I RHINK I GOT IT (im too indecisive i have not got it, however I have options)
I do believe I would like to write Superbat fan fiction where the hell do I start chat 💔
My love for Superbat is so strong I can’t put it into words, I mean just look at them 🥺❤️

So first off, I loved Teen Titans (2003). I can openly admit that I am very biased to it, and incorporate it into my personal complicated au. In Teen Titans, Dick leads them as Robin. So lets talk about Jason, and how Dick becomes Nightwing. (In my au)
"Red X is Jason Todd!!" No. Red X is clearly Grant Wilson. It makes the most sense. He calls Robin "kid" implying that he is older, has a similar fighting style to Slade (because we know he and Robin are similar), and most importantly, Jason would not die and come back to find Dick in the Robin costume. (Unless it's a reverse au).
So since Robin leads the Teen Titans, still Robin despite not being in Gotham or with Batman, why would he become Nightwing? Here is my answer.
Dick finds a newspaper article about Batman and Robin in Gotham. Recently. He hasn't been in Gotham recently. There are speculations on why there are two Robins.
He goes home to confront Bruce, and finds a child that looks just like him, in a previous version of his costume. He argues with Bruce, he visits Clark, hears the story about Nightwing and Flamebird, remembers that one episode where Starfire went to the future, and returns to Jump City as Nightwing, unable to take Robin away from the kid, officially giving up Robin to Jason.
Jason doesn't any of know that and believes he has always lead the Titans as Nightwing.
(The newspaper is also a parallel to how Dick found out about Jason's death :D)
Do with this what you will.
The claim that "Superman is too strong to have any meaningful conflict" is a ridiculous statement and makes the assumption that all conflict is rooted in violence.
Superman has conflicts around philosophy, societal issues, loneliness, balancing work and personal life, human empathy, rescue and yes, he does fight things. Things that are as strong as him. Just because he can move fast and punch good doesn't mean he can't have anxiety.
(This story isn't related to this post, but the art is from Superman Lost #2)
i think abt this so often.
if jason was screaming himself hoarse in his coffin, wouldn’t clark have heard it and been like “huh. weird. there’s someone screaming six feet under” ????????? like bros the only one with super hearing he has one fucking job
i really liked dark knights of steel but bruce being clark’s half brother really threw me off. like i know that it was supposed to be medieval and stuff so it didn’t rlly matter if ‘batman’ had powers but it feels like it goes against his character??
like he’s literally supposed to be this unnaturally powerful person DESPITE not having powers amongst all these god like beings of creation and strength. that’s what makes him stand out and what makes him ten times scarier!!
i also didn’t rlly like how the robins were written :( i hate hate HATEEEEE when they’re written to be his employees. its such a watered down version of their purpose but wtv nothings perfect.
yes superman and batman 😁
i just want a fluffy one shot

It was a rare day off for the Justice League. Bruce Wayne and Clark Kent, long-time friends and partners in more ways than one, decided to make the most of the afternoon by inviting their closest allies over for a movie marathon. The mood was relaxed, far from the usual chaos of the world-saving they were accustomed to.
Bruce, ever the perfectionist, had already set the living room up to perfection, soft, overstuffed pillows scattered on the couch, dim lighting, and blankets that practically invited people to sink in and forget about the outside world. The projector was already set up, ready to play whatever movies they decided on.
Clark, as always, brought the snacks. He’d used his speed to gather a whole variety of things, making sure everyone’s favorites were covered. Pizza, popcorn, chocolate, and even a few healthier options (just to appease Bruce’s tendency to stress about healthy eating).
Barry Allen was the first to arrive, his usual cheerful energy filling the room. He dropped onto the couch with a laugh, immediately reaching for the bowl of popcorn that Clark had placed in the middle of the table.
“Got the snacks all ready to go?” Barry asked with a grin.
Clark chuckled, sitting next to him. “You know it, Barry. We’re going all out today. Don’t worry, there’s plenty of pizza left for you.
Diana Prince came in next, her presence calming, yet powerful. She smiled softly as she removed her boots, a knowing look passing between her and Bruce. It was clear she was looking forward to some downtime as much as everyone else. Arthur Curry followed close behind, his laid-back, salty demeanor filling the space as he threw an arm around Diana’s shoulders, dropping onto the floor with an exaggerated sigh.
“This is what I needed,” Arthur said with a smirk, sprawling across the floor. “A break from being the king of Atlantis to being a couch potato.”
Bruce’s lips twitched upward as he settled in, snuggling up to Clark, who immediately draped an arm around him. “You’re welcome to make yourself comfortable,” Bruce teased. “But don’t ruin the couch cushions.”
“Relax, B, I’ve got it under control,” Arthur said, waving him off.
The room was filled with the soft sound of laughter as the group settled into place. Diana and Barry nestled into the cushions, while Clark and Bruce found a comfortable spot on the couch, cozy beneath the blankets.
They started with an old classic superhero movie, something lighthearted that didn’t require much thought. Bruce, as always, was meticulously focused on the details of the film, while Clark couldn’t help but laugh at how serious his boyfriend was about it.
Diana leaned against Barry, who was already halfway through the popcorn, sharing a few jokes and comments about how they could do things differently. Arthur, ever the cynic, grumbled at the portrayal of the hero on screen.
“I mean, honestly,” Arthur muttered, “they really messed up the character.”
Clark’s laughter was genuine, nudging Bruce playfully. “See? Even the king of Atlantis can’t escape the occasional bad portrayal.”
“Maybe,” Bruce said, his voice low, “but I’m pretty sure we could do better if we were in charge.”
It was moments like these, when the weight of the world wasn’t on their shoulders, that they felt truly free. As the movie played on, Barry and Diana quietly started to drift off to sleep, their soft breathing filling the space, while Arthur dozed with his head resting against the couch.
Bruce and Clark, the two pillars of the group, simply enjoyed the warmth of each other’s presence. It was a rare, precious moment, a time to recharge, to laugh, to feel safe, and to love. No villains to fight, no crises to resolve, just each other and the simple joy of being together.
The day passed in a haze of cozy cuddles, whispered jokes, and shared snacks. Even Batman, who never truly let his guard down, found solace in the companionship of his friends, and in the quiet, comforting embrace of Clark Kent.
Hope you liked it! :))
Happy 20 year anniversary to the introduction of Smallville’s Clark Kent and Lex Luthor!
I want you to know whatever happens in the next few days, I’m still your friend and that’s never gonna change. I hope you feel the same way. I do.
I just love this.
I ??? woke up at 3am with this scene fully written in my mind palace and quickly jotted it down in the Notes app
*
Clark’s shaking his head before he realizes he’s doing it, and feels a twinge of embarrassment at his own bad manners when Bruce stops mid-word to look at him, brows raised.
“No?” he says.
“No,” Clark says, again without thinking, and again with the reflexive urge to apologize. Somewhere his mother is tutting without knowing why. But he doesn’t apologize, because he’s already saying, “No, it can’t—it can’t be that.”
“Okay,” Bruce says slowly. “Can you elaborate?”
He is, honestly, having trouble taking his eyes off the screen. The mockup design of his new suit is there, dark and sleek, ridged like tactical gear. The blue is like the last shade of evening before you can’t call it evening anymore, the color of nine PM in Kansas in July, so exact there’s a strong chance Bruce color-picked it from a photo. The yellow accents are the cool fluorescent yellow-green of lightning bugs. The red is dark as arterial blood. Every aspect of the suit has been updated—the colors deeper, the angles sharper, the S extending to the corners of its frame—but Bruce has done it without changing the fundamentals. It’s immediately recognizable as the Superman suit, just… well, a little cooler, maybe. A little more of the times. Even the tailoring is modernized. The neckline. The shape of the boots. Where the belt hits at the waist. Clark can tell just by looking that Bruce has not only spent a lot of time on this in general, he’s spent a lot of time designing it specifically with Clark in mind, Clark’s needs and preferences and the small discomforts of his current suit, things he might have mentioned offhand after a mission but never with the assumption that Bruce was listening or filing it away. No doubt the next slides of this presentation will detail all the hidden features of the new suit, and they’ll all be incredibly thoughtful if not slightly overkill, and Bruce will pretend his sole motive here was practicality and risk reduction and respond to any thanks with a curt nod.
And Clark wants to thank him. He will. It’s just.
“It can’t be… cool,” he says, inane. Bruce is watching him with that steady look that used to feel clinical, piercing, and now mostly reads as attentive. “It can’t be—like yours. Tactical, military-grade.”
“Lightyears beyond, actually.”
“It has to—Ma said once, a kid should be able to draw it with crayons. You know? I can’t look like a weapon. I have to—I want to look like a friend.”
He can feel himself flushing. It’s rare that he speaks like this, and rarer still that he does so while being stared at intently. Bruce may think of himself as the darkness, but his gaze is a spotlight: unwavering and revealing and more a little sweat-inducing, for one reason or another.
“Sometimes, when I show up, people laugh,” Clark says. “If it’s somewhere out of the way, where they haven’t seen me before. I show up and I look like a festival performer. It’ll be the worst day of their lives, and they’ve got no reason to trust my face, but when they see what I’m wearing—it goes from ‘Who are you?’ to ‘Who is this guy?’ And that’s a good thing.”
“Hard to be afraid of a man dressed in primary colors,” Bruce says, almost to himself.
“Exactly.”
“I see. Thank you,” he says, “for explaining.”
Clark tries not to show how surprised he is to hear that. Judging by the crook of Bruce’s mouth, his success is negligible. “Of course. Sorry I didn’t—I mean, thank you, obviously, for going to such trouble. I didn’t mean to come in here and—I really do appreciate it, I can tell you put a lot of work in—”
Bruce’s eyes cut away. “No. No need. I didn’t ask, before I…. It was only a first draft. If you’re amenable, I’ll incorporate your feedback into the second one.”
“Oh! Yeah. Yes, of course, but you really don’t have to—”
“If you have any further notes, I would like to hear them.”
There’s something determined in the lines of his face. Clark has the sense that this moment is important, that it’s a turning point, even if he’s not sure why. It feels like striking out into a sea of ice, a blank white expanse under which something precious and vital is hidden, has been hidden all along, just waiting for him to find it. To want to.
“Sure,” he says. He looks back at the suit and swallows, and knows Bruce will see the flicker of his throat and take some meaning from it, and wishes he knew what the meaning was. Or maybe Bruce won’t notice or read into it at all. Maybe Clark needs to calm down, in fact. “Um. I don’t want to assume, but does it… do things?”
“It does things,” Bruce confirms, after the barest pause. “Let me show you the next slide.”
Clark Kent finally goes to get therapy but the only person who knows both of his identities AND is in any way actually qualified is Harley Quinn
