Lucky Shot Part 2

His claws tapped a restless rhythm along the table, purple eyes flicking over towards the door to the guest room he’d had specifically refurbished for his little alien. They were sleeping, still under the effects of his chucklevoodoos, oblivious to the rage Marvus was barely restraining. He’d tossed his blood soaked jacket into the wash the sounds of his first two victims screams still ringing like a pretty chorus in his ears.

But that still left the last violetblood.

His insignia inlaid in the obnoxiously gold harpoon. A perfect target printed on his back. It was better than anything Marvus could have asked for.

“Why did you use your voodoo on them?” Polypa asked as she exited the guest room, her eyes narrowed accusingly.

“You know how lil mama be actin. If I didn’t they’d be up tryna walk it off.” He replied staring her down. Polypa stared back, the two of them not backing down as they locked eyes.

“Don’t do it again.” Polypa finally responded as they both broke eye contact. Marvus shrugged it off.

“Is what it is.” He replied before motioning to the harpoon, “This was stickin’ out they shoulder. Figured you should help a mofo out with the last one if you catch my drift.”

“Where are they now?” She asked, sliding into the seat opposite from him.Her olive eyes were narrowed in contempt as she observed the harpoon with an assassin’s keen glare. Marvus’ glare curled sharp and twisted in reply.

“They jus’ a lil lamb for the slaughter.” He hummed, “Don’ even know we comin’. The violet blood usually hangs out at the docks.”

Polypa gave a grim little smirk in response.

“Then lets pay our target a little visit.”

Your head felt like cotton as your conscious struggled to the surface, blearily opening your eyes you once more found yourself waking in Marvus’ guest room. Unfortunately, everything still ached fiercely when you awoke this time as well. Groaning groggily you slowly forced yourself to gingerly wiggle into an upright position against the frankly ridiculous amount of fluffy pillows. Who needed this many pillows? It was like a weird version of princess and the pea. Glancing around the empty room, your stomach sank at the thought that Marvus had gone to hunt down the perpetrators. Worry for your friends overrode everything else as you attempted to reach for the blankets to toss them off only to give a hoarse and breathless shout of pain as hot agony pulsated from your shoulder at the gesture. It knocked the wind from your lungs as you wheezed, eyes wide and teary. With a slam the guest room door banged off the wall with the force it was opened and there she stood in all her olive glory.

“You’re awake!” Polypa shouted, rushing to your side in an instant. Her comforting smell of popcorn and metal filled your senses as she gingerly wrapped her arms around you.

“What are you doing here?” You croaked, throat dry and scratchy. Polypa grabbed the glass of water by your bedside and pressed it to your lips.

“Drink slowly,” She commanded, “Marvus called me as soon as he found you.”

Her worried gaze warmed you as you greedily gulped down the ice cold water. Breathing heavily as she pulled the cup from your lips you gave her a small smile.

“He did?”

“He did.” She confirmed, taking a moment to fuss with the bandages on your face.

“Where’d he go anyways?” You asked.

“Just to toss some of his things into the wash.” She replied, her fingers trailed featherlight against your face and you leaned into the soothing touch. Pressing her head to yours Polypa sighed in relief to see you in recovery. “Don’t scare me like that again. I don’t know what I’d do if-,” Her voice choked off before she could even finish saying it and you shushed her gently as you pressed your forehead back against hers soothingly.

“I’m here.” You murmured, “I survived, its okay. Deep breaths Polypa.”

She sucked in a shuddering breath and wrapped her arms back around you, careful to avoid jostling your injured shoulder. With a heavy and grateful sigh you leaned into the comfort of her hold and closed your eyes.

“I thought I lost you.” She croaked, voice raw with emotion.

“I’m right here. I promise I’m not going anywhere.”

“You better not, who’s gonna stop Tegiri from insisting we watch Troll Naruto again?”

That dragged a laugh from the both of you.

“We seriously need to find him another anime to obsess over.”

“Yeah.” Polypa buried her face in your chest and you could feel the damp spots begin to form as she cried. Shushing her, you wrapped your uninjured arm around her shoulders and hunched over her in an imitation of a hug, gently swaying side to side as she broke down.

“Hey, hey, its okay. It was just a lucky shot.” You murmured. “Just a lucky shot…”

Lights Part 4

"You sure you want to come over tonight?" You ask as you facetime Polypa, she's somewhere downtown shopping with Boldir. The two of them hadn't told you for what but you have a feelings its for you.

"Of course. You're making spaghetti aren't you?" She asks as she glances off screen to where you can hear Boldir talking with a shop attendant.

"Yeah, figured it was a good night to stay in. Maybe watch some Netflix."

"That sounds great... Maybe we can watch Buzzfeed Unsolved too..." Boldir speaks up, face briefly appearing. She's giving you a more gentle smile and you know it has to do with the fact you'd nearly had an anxiety attack the last time the three of you had all hung out. It makes you want to squirm. Instead you glance over to check if the pot of water is boiling yet.

"Yeah. That sounds good." You agree absently. In the living room you can hear the weather forecast calling for more rain. It'd been going on steadily for two days now, a light drizzle that wouldn't let up. Usually you enjoyed the rain but tonight was calling for a sudden turn in the weather- a proper thunderstorm. They might not be able to go home if it gets truly bad.

"Do you want us to wait?" Polypa asks after a moment of silence as she walks. Her expression is understanding and open. The fact she's been so patient with you as of late causes your stomach to drop in nervousness at the thought. She wouldn't bat an eye if you told her you just wanted space.

But you don't. You want to spend time with your friends. Have dinner and watch whatever random thing catches your interests as the night goes on. But at the same time you aren't sure how you're gonna take the storm mixed with the fact that the two olive bloods will be trapped with you for the night. Swallowing those feelings down you give her a smile.

"Nah. We need to finish up Blood Battle Blockade anyway don't we?"

"True... I've heard the ending is really good."

"So have I."

The silence returns as the water finally boils and you pour in the noodles. You can hear Boldir and Polypa talking to each other as they keep you on facetime. The soothing background noise letting you relax as you set the timer. It was truly just one of those molasses slow days. A haze of lethargy falling over everything. You prop your phone on the jar of tomato sauce so you can still see what they're up to as you chop garlic. They're outside now, huddled under an umbrella as they walk. You'd only taken your eyes off your phone for a moment when you hear Polypa curse and Boldir suck in a breath. Glancing up you can see the way Polypa has pulled the phone closer to herself, only able to see her chin and her coat. The hair on the back of your neck raises as Polypa speaks to someone you can't see. You stand there frozen straining to hear the other person. "Who are you talking to Polypa?"

The knife clatters onto the chopping board as you suck in a panicked breath. You aren't ready to see anyone else. Not today. Not right now. You miss Polypa's reply as he takes her phone. You can't get your body to move, rooted to the spot as a new face comes into view. Teal eyes go wide behind his glasses and you watch him suck in a surprised breath.

"Give that back Tegiri!" Boldir snaps and you watch the camera blur as she obviously wrestles him for it.

"What is going on? You found them?" He sounds so hurt as he speaks but the guilt hardly registers over the overwhelming terror.

Teals talk.

Boldir's face comes into view, then Polypa's, then Tegiri's as they fight over the phone the camera as blurred as your thoughts. Your hands shake as you fumble for your own phone. Pressing end call you sink down onto the floor. They'll know. They'll know and they'll look for you and then they'll be at your door and- the shrill beep of the timer interrupts your spiral and you jump to turn it off. You aren't ready but the universe does not care about that. Straining the noodles you put them back in the pot and add the tomato sauce. You have to stop thinking about that. You need a distraction. Something else to focus on other than the sense of dread.

When you set the table its for a dinner of four. You sincerely hope that's all there will be tonight.

Together

Despite the fact the two of you were of a completely different species, you could safely say that you and Polypa had one of the closest relationships you possibly could have. It was why she had followed you across the vacuum of space and time, through countless realities, and had somehow yet again found you. She was someone you treasured above all. In this reality, where cultures mixed and divided and fought, you tried your best to do what she needed. There were times as a moirail you felt quite helpless- and others you felt at your element. Gathering every pillow, blanket, and sheet in your house as you headed towards your room was one of those ‘in your element’ days. Tossing the blankets onto the floor you stripped your bed and proceeded to empty out the floor of your closet. After years of doing all this your closet floor was decidedly bare- a few shoes and boxes and some clothes that had slipped off their hangers. Polypa wouldn’t care about the mess stacked next to your bed- what would matter would be the inside of the closet. A warm enclosed space filled with the scent of you. The first layer was the fitted sheets, pinning them to the floor so they stretched out, this was important for the mess you’d both make later. The second layer was the couch cushions and then the thin sheets. An elevated platform so you weren’t sleeping on the literal floor. You’d learned the hard way that it would hurt your back to continuously do that. From there you draped the duvets over the entire mound before putting the more comfortable pillows down. By the time the entire thing was done it looked like a nest. Perhaps the closest thing you could create to a feels jam pile. Wiping off your hands you gave it one more look over before leaving your bedroom. She had said she’d be there soon- which for Polypa was as vague as either an hour or five minutes. Passing by the thermostat you turned the heat up slightly before continuing to the kitchen. Tossing the popcorn into the microwave you rooted around in the fridge for some sodas.

“What movies are we watching tonight?”

“Jesus!”

You jumped whipping around to find Polypa sitting on your counter. Giving you a mischievous grin she continued to wind her usual bandages around one of her legs.

“Well?” She asked after you had calmed down.

“We’re watching The Notebook and Where The Lovely Indigo Attempts To Start A Matespritship With A Cavalreaper Unaware That They Are The Moirail To Their Kismesis Who Wishes To Pursue A Red Relationship With Them.” You personally hated how long troll movie names were, always a mouthful that was more the synopsis of the movie than leaving anything to surprise. Then again you appreciated they were up front about the plot. Humming appreciatively Polypa tucked the remaining bandage away and hopped off the counter.

“Subbed or dubbed?”

“There’s options for both.”

“Good.”

“We’re watching The Notebook first.”

“Why?”

“Because your movie is four hours long.” You deadpanned earning an unrepentant grin.

“Well if that’s the case then we’re watching Alternian anime tonight too.”

“Troll Naruto?”

“Troll Guren Laagan.”

“I hate you.”

“Pale for you too.” She looked entirely too smug as she grabbed the popcorn, dumping it into the large olive green bowl you had out. She knew that the show always made you cry- even worse than the human Guren Laagan did. Following behind her with your drinks you couldn’t help but smile despite that. You’d both be crying by the time the credits rolled but at least you’d be enjoying the time spent together.

Just like you always did.

Would it be alright to request either a short fic or just some headcanons of mspar/reader<>polypa? Specifically mspar making a pillow fort as like a human version of a feels jam pile? I love polypa so much and you write her so well!

Ahhhh thank you so much! She's honestly one of my favorites and writing her is so much fun. I do apologize that the fic doesn't actually have her till more towards the end but I hope its what you like! If not feel free to come back and request something different.

Lights Part 3

There’s a pleasant warmth curled around you and the heaviness of the comforter that’s got you feeling like a very loved burrito makes it hard to open your eyes. You’re struggling to not keep blinking continuously but its a difficult task, you’re warm, you’re comfortable, and you’ve got no where to be. The arm wrapped around your stomach drags you closer as your eyes sag closed-

You’re wide awake in an instant. Heart hammering and lungs seizing as you go absolutely rigid. You don’t invite people into your house anymore, especially not into your bed, those are your sacred little spaces that you crawl into to feel secure. But you can feel the person- sleep heavy- curled along your back in an awkward spooning position with an arm and leg thrown over you. Warm breath tickling the back of your neck that suddenly feels too exposed. You’re too exposed and there is someone in your bed and you can’t breathe and-

The leg that was thrown over you is removed and there are hands dragging you upright and a vaguely familiar voice murmuring something close enough to your face you can feel the puffs of air each word makes. It’s not until hands are cupping your jaw and the words level out into a constant soothing hush of consolation that you finally realize who’s kneeling over your lap and looking lost and upset. Polypa’s eyes are wide with worry as her voice seizes up and relaxes against the chattering cicada noise that wants to come out. She settles for a stream of constant shushing noises that buzz just a bit the closer to panic she comes. She’s never seen you like this. Never seen or realized exactly how messed up Alternia had left you. It claws at her mind and whispers the horrible thought of failing as a moirail that she never noticed. That she never pried even when you seemed just fine. She should have. She should know exactly what’s keeping you up at night and what sends you into a blind panic. Polypa should have known where you lived too. As a moirail these were basic things that helped build the foundation of a stable diamond. The fact she didn’t have the faintest clue about any of it was enough for olive tinted tears to well up in the corners of her eyes. After everything you had simply fallen off the map, complete radio silence, Polypa had looked everywhere for you. The mall was the last place she ever thought to bump into you and the elation she had felt had been short lived at the absolutely shattered look in your eyes. The way you had simply crumbled at the slightest gentle touch had felt like a sucker punch to the gut.

“It’s alright, it’s going to be alright, just breathe for me.” You took in a stuttering breath following along to the gentle breathing that Polypa was trying to coach you into. You were safe, you were home, you were in bed, and Polypa had spent the night after the most intense and dissociative feelings jam of your life. It was fine. Slowly you began to calm down. The two of you would need to have that talk you’d been dreading. The one where you had to tell her everything and wait for her to decide whether she was going to sign up for dealing with your bullshit or throw herself out the window to get as far away from your flaming dumpster fire as she could. For a moment you debated lying out your ass and saying you’ve just been having a horrible week and leaving it at that. The thought was abandoned as quickly as it formed. Polypa’s eyes were earnest and bordering desperate. She wanted- and by extension needed- to hear the truth. No matter how much it’d feel like pulling teeth.

“We need to talk.” You finally sighed out, shoulders slumping as the fight left you. She tensed and you realized how bad that probably sounded. “It- Its- Hey, Polypa, its not... Well okay its bad but- just let me explain?” Preferably in the kitchen where you could sit at the table and talk this out like rational adults. Even if you felt like a frightened preteen about to spill their guts for the first time. It took a few more reassurances that you were more or less okay and that you weren’t about to kick her out to get her to let you up. From there you grabbed some drinks from your fridge and took a seat at the little kitchen table you had set up. Polypa drummed her claws along the can of soda you’d handed her- a nervous tick you’d adopted from her long ago. You weren’t sure where to even start with this. A confession of how pale you still were for her? Word vomit about the time just before landing on Alternia? Or straight to the chase? Running a hand through your hair as your foot bounced nervously you took a deep breath.

“When...” You had to clear your throat past the lump in it, “When I first landed on Alternia... I-,” A shuddering breath left you and you had to close your eyes for a moment to keep from bursting into tears. To keep from becoming an incoherent babbling mess. It took Polypa’s hand covering one of your own to get back what little composure you had.

“You don’t have to tell me everything now.” She offered in the silence as you tried to collect your words again. Tempted as you were to take her up on that you knew she deserved to know.

“When I first landed on Alternia there was something wrong with me. I knew something was wrong but for the life of me couldn’t figure out what it might be. So I pushed it aside for the thrill of making friends. Of meeting new people. It wasn’t until I left that I finally realized what happened. What was wrong...” She was staring at you with such rapt attention you felt like a bug pinned to a cork board. “I was... It- I- shit... Everything that happened on Alternia felt fake, like I was some chess piece on a board waiting for someone to make a move. A pawn. And I... I was. I was a pawn. The man... The-,” Your fists clenched at the memory, “Doc fucking Scratch.” You barked out venomously teeth grinding with the force of it. It was the first time you’d allowed yourself to say his name. To speak it into existence. For once you weren’t afraid it’d bring him down upon you like a swarm of locusts. No, for once you wanted to wrap your hands around that puppet’s felt fucking neck and squeeze. Sucking in a deep breath you continued on. “He fucked with my mind Polypa. I was a backseat passenger to a shit show I had no control over. Everything I ever did was mapped out and if I made a wrong choice? I wound up in a groundhog style remake of that moment until I made the correct decision. I died Polypa, I remember every death- every bad ending- every time I had to stare down at one of my friends and know that I killed them! And then I’d blink and I’d be back where I started staring down at the choices I was allowed to make and praying I’d get it right this time. He took all my words and twisted them to fit his narrative. I was there to make the right friends and then be tossed aside when there was no use for me. And when he plucked me out of the narrative again and gave me back my at least some of my mind I fucking spiraled. I went about making more friends because I couldn’t do anything else. Because that fucker took my memories from me so that I would continue in a loop until it killed me. And when I finally snapped out of it I tore everything to shreds to get to him. I destroyed entire timelines just so I could burn everything that pompous bastard held dear to the ground. And I succeeded. At least partially... The next time I woke up I was sleeping in a motel room in some place I’d never even heard of. I found a job and I scraped up enough to get a decent place, I knew that everyone was still out there. I did. I just couldn’t bring myself to play the game again. Even if it was all in my head.” Tears were dripping off the tip of your nose as you stared down at your fist and Polypa’s hand still placed over yours. It took her choking out your name for you to finally look her in the face. Olive tears were streaming down her cheeks and she looked miserable. Like you had ripped the heart from her chest and stomped it into the dirt.

“Everything you did was against your will?” Her voice was so small and for a moment you almost agreed. But that wasn’t what she was really asking. Reaching out you took her hands in yours and squeezed as tightly as you could.

“The time we spent together was the closest I ever got to being myself. If it’s one thing I’d do over and over and over again it would be becoming your moirail. Never doubt that Polypa. Never.” A small keen left her lips and then you suddenly found yourself with a lap full of blubbering troll. Her claws were digging through the shirt you wore as her arms squeezed you like a vice. Words practically unintelligible and at least mostly in Alternian bubbled out of her in a tormented jumble. More tears gathered in your eyes as you cradled her close and started crying in earnest. You had your moirail back, of her own choice, and the dam you’d kept everything behind finally burst.

Lights Part 2

It’s been a few months since your encounter with Boldir, you won’t say ‘chance’ because it had been arranged, and you’ve been simply continuing with your life. As it turns out Boldir lives in a little apartment downtown not too far from the bakery you frequent. She’d seen you going there and recognized you, apparently it was Mallek and Dirk’s cyberstalking that led her to seek you out officially. You aren’t sure if you should feel grateful for their paranoia and less than morally applaudable methods bringing Boldir back into your life. It’s not as if you’re happy those two are stalking you but you are happy to have a friend back. It sits on the back burner of things you worry about- not so much a pressing thought as a pop up.

The two of you have slowly been getting to know each other again. Outside of his control you aren’t the same person that Boldir was familiar with, and even she has changed outside of Alternia’s influence. Some things remain unchanging, such as her fashion sense and love of conspiracies but its noticeably not driven by a need to survive. She’s more relaxed. Though there will always be that part of both of you that is still on guard against threats. That’s willing to do the morally dubious to survive. It’s an unspoken acknowledgement between the two of you. There’s blood strewn between you from what you’ve both done in Alternia’s harsh nights to sleep through another harsher day. You don’t think any one of your neighbors or any manner of people you’ve interacted with understand it the same way Boldir does. Or any of your old friends do. You know that no one would suspect you capable of half the things you did. Some nights you still wake up with horror numbing your body and terror screaming at you to move. Those are the nights you make yourself something strong to wake up to and settle in for feeling like shit through the entirety of the day. To say you’re working through it is a hopeful mantra. You hope that there will be a day these feelings will be but a distant memory. As it is you’re wide awake and nursing a coffee like it’ll burn your unsavory memories away with enough exposure. You’d decided to go to the mall today since you hadn’t been in some time. Mostly you were just looking for a way to kill time. Sitting on a bench watching the other mall goers flit about you were starting to regret your decision. Everything here was just making you feel worse and even more exposed. What you wanted to do was crawl your way under your blankets and stay there. Getting up you tossed your drink into the nearest trashcan and went looking for the right exit. You had to pass one of the little mall theatres and suddenly stopped. Now wasn’t the time to miss her. And yet you were frozen remembering the taste of popcorn and the comforting darkness as the credits rolled. Of her hand in yours. It had been a while since you had an episode so bad you missed Polypa like one might miss a limb. The breath you took rattled through you thinly and you knew you had to get out of there before you got any worse. It took a conscious effort not to break out into a dead run. Instead you were walking briskly, eyes glued to your own feet, as you rushed towards the exit. You tried hard not to bump into anyone but even so you still managed to do it. Just a clipping of shoulders and elbows. Head shooting up you went to apologize only for the air to leave your lungs entirely.

She looked wonderful, black cargo shorts and her signature tank top. The chip in her horn was still there but it wasn’t the jagged wound of your memories- instead it looked tended to. The edges softened to keep it from being so glaringly obvious. Her hair was still the messy black you came to appreciate but this time it had a sort of neatness to it. Polypa looked right at home. Tongue tied you could only stare with wide and disbelieving eyes. There was movement out of the corner of your eye- slow and deliberate- but you only had eyes for your moirail. Or rather, former moirail. A hand carefully hovered near your cheek and you could feel the tears stinging against the corners of your eyes. Her lips pulled taut into a thin line and her hand pressed firmly against your jaw. Then her other hand came up to do the same. There was the rustle of plastic and you were vaguely aware of the bag dangling from her arm as her hands cupped your face. As she took a small step closer.

“Polypa?” Your voice cracked and you shut your mouth with a click of teeth. She wasn’t your moirail anymore. She wasn’t. It didn’t make you want to collapse against her any less. The harsh lines of her brows seemed to soften at that as she carefully guided you closer and you had to wonder exactly how pitiful you must have looked.

“Where’s your scuttlebuggy?” She asked quietly. Your shoulders trembled.

“I walked.” The walk had seemed like a good idea at the time. A way to clear your head. Now it seemed like the worst decision you ever made.

“Okay.” She was wrapping an arm around you so tightly you were forced to walk pressed flush against her side. A protest bubbled up your throat and promptly died on your tongue when you saw the few trolls scattered about blatantly staring. Against you Polypa’s chest rumbled with the hint of a warning growl. You were reminded of all the times you’d been in a similar situation back on Alternia, though those times you’d been the one doing the comforting. Had Polypa ever been given the chance to return the favor? There was that first time but you’d been so out of it he’d stolen your words and warped them to fit the narrative. The realization helped sober you just a bit. This was the first time she was seeing you break. The real you. Your entire body shuddered as the realization settled into your mind. This was it. If Polypa didn’t like what she saw it was over. The comforting memories of the two of you together would be overshadowed by this. This simple but momentous moment. Your tears were finally getting to the point of blurring your vision as the two of you exited the mall. She was warm, you thought to yourself, not the same warmth a human would give off but warmer than you remembered. And she was still tugging you along pressed tight and held firmly in her grip. How the two of you managed to walk all the way back to your house you weren’t sure. It seemed as if one minute you were walking away from the mall and the next minute Polypa was taking your house key out of your fumbling fingers to open the door herself. Again you could feel a protest bubbling up. A warning that she had to leave now because you couldn’t handle it if all this amounted to was you getting your hopes up. As she shut and locked your door behind you both the words stilled in waiting on your lips.

Why had she locked your door?

“Force of habit, come here.” She replied forcefully, you hadn’t even realized you’d asked her that out loud. As Polypa gathered you back up close again she took in your little home. It wasn’t much of course. Just what you’d managed to scrape up and get when you started out here, but it was nothing to be ashamed of. With a careful precision she walked you through the house and straight into your room. In moments you were being sat on your bed as Polypa knelt down to unlace your shoes for you. The action had you feeling rubbed raw. Fresh tears spilled down your cheeks as she carefully pulled off your shoes and set them aside. Her face was impossibly soft as she looked up at you.

“Is this okay?” There was something raw in the way her voice just barely trembled. As if this was just as meaningful to her as it was to you. With a choked sob all you could do was nod. She was careful as she crawled onto your bed with you- kicking off her own shoes as she went. There were the beginnings of translucent olive colored tears in her eyes. A desperation you felt just as keenly mirrored in her actions.

It broke what little restrain you had as the agony of it all overwhelmed you.

“I missed you.” She whispered as you laid barely awake and hollowed out curled up close and warm against each other. You squeezed her with what little strength you could muster, voice long gone from your feelings jam. Me too, you wanted to say. A few more tears tracked down your face as Polypa settled in closer. You two still had so much more to talk about. To discuss. To figure out. But it could wait. As you finally drifted off into a well deserved sleep you knew she’d be there when you woke up. It was the first time you slept like the dead since coming here.

Marvus Xoloto x Reader

You first saw him again on TV of all things. Some nameless talk show that played so late at night it could almost be considered early morning. You wouldn’t have paid it any mind- just simple white noise as you tried to convince your body to just sleep. Of course, sleep was made impossible when you registered exactly who was on your shitty little TV. Wide awake and in disbelief you watched Marvus go through those familiar routines you’d come to expect from him a life time ago. He was selling his act so well you knew that the reviews would be a never ending loop of praise. It wasn’t at all surprising of him and you found yourself smiling as fragments of old memories floated to the surface. Knowing him he’d collapse on the first vaguely soft surface he found and sleep well into the afternoon before his PR team blew up his phone. The thought finally drew you into action. Pulling out your phone you opened up Chittr for the first time in a long time and set about finding Marvus. It wasn’t hard. Finding a celebrity was always the easy part. Shooting off a friend request you hoped he’d see it. With luck he might realize it was you and accept. You didn’t bother with anything else as you turned off the TV. It wasn’t helping you sleep and Marvus wouldn’t see your request until the weekend if at all. Trudging from the couch to your bed you contemplated texting Polypa. She was always ready to talk with you when you couldn’t sleep. It was tempting- especially if she felt like sneaking into your house to spend time with you. She never asked for an invite, always just showing up on your couch or already in your bed. A long time ago you might have been put out by that. But it was a long time ago for a reason. Now you were used to the casual breaking and entering she did. You’d offered to let her live with you but she’d told you that she hadn’t wanted anything in her job leading back to you. It didn’t surprise you that she was still an assassin even on Earth. She was good at what she did.

Flopping down onto your bed you let your phone drop onto the mattress with you. Sleep was slow coming but it was coming. Finally. Eyes closing you could feel your body start to sink further into sleep like a rock in water. Which was, of course, the moment your phone buzzed with a notification. Snatching it up off the bed you glared blurry eyed down at it until your sight finally focused.

Marvus accepted your friend request!

Oh, well then. It looked as if things were looking up. With a smile you set your phone back down and closed your eyes. Your phone buzzed again and figuring it might be Marvus you picked it back up.

Zebruh sent you a friend request!

Oh hell no.

Polypa Goezee x Reader

Popcorn littered the floor in a spray of carnage, the large olive bowl it had been in was tipped over to its side. On your laptop screen the credits to some Alternian romcom was playing in its distorted way, the quality hadn’t been the best but you hadn’t put it on for yourself. Your arm had fallen asleep where Polypa was using it as a pillow, her hair still damp from the shower earlier. She looked peaceful like this, one arm thrown over your stomach and the other cradling the back of your neck gingerly- she was always so careful to guard your weak spots- one of her legs was hooked over yours and a soft purr was rumbling from her chest. Rubbing her arm the best you could when it was trapped underneath her you carefully reached with the other to shut your laptop. It was late and you were exhausted from the feelings jam the both of you had hammered out earlier in the night. Cocooned in the soft blankets and pillows that made up your pile it was easy to wiggle just a bit and get comfortable. In her sleep Polypa lightly tightened her grip and shifted closer, that soft purr turning into a deeper rumble that vibrated your own chest where she was pressed as close as she could get to you. The rest of your room was shrouded in darkness, the curtains drawn shut to give you both a better sense of privacy. Polypa had arranged the pile to be on the far side of your room between the wall and your bed, the door shut and locked on the other side. Your little corner was secure and close to a vent that was providing plenty of heat for the both of you. Warm and content your mind drifted from one thought to the next. You’d missed this, the easy way you and Polypa coexisted when it was just the two of you. Ever since the reset and getting back your memories you’d been searching for your friends. You’d finally found them after two years of constant vigilance. This new shared world had been a blessing and though it still proved to have its fair share of problems you couldn’t help but to be grateful. It had given you your friends back. All of them safe and sound in a world less harsher than the one they remembered. You smiled to remember how you’d found Polypa. Despite all the places you had looked you’d ran into her at the mall of all things. You had both made fools of yourself crying all over each other and clinging to the point an employee had to ask you both to take it somewhere else. That had been a year ago. Since then the two of you spent as much time as you could with each other, most of those early days had been getting to know each other again- reassuring each other that your relationship was still there. Even now there were times that you had to reassure each other that the other was there. Things weren’t easy. They never had been. Between the two of you and the things this world like to throw at you trouble was a familiar companion. But the two of you were finding your rhythm and learning together how to survive and thrive. This world wasn’t exactly kind, there were things that kept you up at night, made you sick to your stomach. Problems from your world carried over to this one and the problems on Alternia had also settled here. Some problems had been dealt away with, had to be in order to coexist, but others only amplified. There were people out there that didn’t understand your relationship with Polypa- that openly scorned it. Sometimes it made you wonder if your moirail would be better off without you.

Running a hand through Polypa’s hair you sighed. You deserved to be selfish, at least in this regard. Polypa was your moirail and no one could take her away from you. Pressing a soft kiss to her forehead you settled fully against her. It was far too late in the night- or rather far too early in the morning- for these thoughts. A clawed hand gently pressed against your cheek as Polypa’s eyes cracked open a sliver. Warm and understanding as she gazed at you.

“Sleep.”

And you slept.

[ID: Tegiri (referred to in the original text as "cop") is investigating a crime, and asks, "can you describe the woman who stabbed you?" Zebruh (referred to as "male author") strikes a dramatic pose and replies, "lithe, spirited, outgoing, and not afraid to speak her mind. she was a raw sexual force and she knew it. she was dandelion fluff on a summer day, gone in an instant, leaving you with nothing the memory of her touch and the faint taste of strawberries on your lips." the cloaked woman who stabbed him is behind him, looking pissed. Tegiri says, "great, we have a motive, but we still need a description." / end IDs.]

opalescent-apples reblogged this with the tag "undescribed". I hear ya! I've been meaning to add image descriptions to my old posts, so here's a start! if y'all have any other specific posts you'd like image descriptions of, you can reblog them like this and I'll see it, or you can send asks. I want to make this blog more accessible, so please keep letting me know which posts to prioritize!

one more thing, after all the time that has passed since I made this, I still can't fucking believe that the first thing Zebruh describes her as is "lithe", which can mean "graceful", but it also can mean "skinny". she was strong enough to stab a highblood and he immediately wants to say that she's skinny. ugh.

[ID: Polypa walks by a haunted house and says, "as a martial artist, I could never do extreme haunted houses, which kinda sucks." the scene flashes to her in Nihkee's dungeon, being attacked by a bloody bear. Polypa continues, "I would definitely accidentally punch someone as a reflex if they grabbed me." she is now in front of a carousel. she says, disappointed, "I'll stick to the lame ones I do every year" / end ID.

please don't go to mckamey manor or anything like it. there's nothing good about it. cheap scares from a cheap haunt are better than expensive therapy and paying to get traumatized. there is a difference between spooky and traumatic. please be reasonable.

I like the idea of an assassin saying "I would kill for you... for free"

or like "I would kill for you so I can pay for whatever you need"

As much as I love ‘I would kill for you’, it kinda really loses its impact if the person saying it is a villain who already kills at the slightest provocation

’I would refrain from killing for you, I would spare them all if you asked me’ is a very sexy alternative, and a much more powerful declaration of love coming from a character prone to violence

I present to y'all: an assortment of Sapphic piracy! no need to thank me! ~♡ (also I'm meaning lesbian as a broad term. they don't have specific labels confirmed. this fandom has a really weird amount of bi exclusion already and I just want to clear that up!)
