I've been getting more views on tumblr lately, and I thought why not do a bit of self promotion? So here I am. If you follow me you know my name is Anna, I'm a literature student in uni, I'm seventeen and I dream of being a writer. A long time ago I began using substack, but due to unforeseen circumstances I had to leave it extremely unkempt. I am fixing it up now, separating my english writing from my spanish stuff, editing things, all that jazz.
I hope to write there more, and I'd like to have more people read my musings, so: if you like my posts here I believe you'll enjoy my substack posts a lot more, and it would make me unbelievably happy to have your support.
I write short stories or personal essays to process what I feel, I pour my heart out on the page for the whole world to see.
here's the link
(and on the topic of social media links, here are the rest of my socials: Insta, pinterest, letterboxd and goodreads)
Anyway, I hope you had an amazing weekend, lots of love,
Anna.
Starting uni today, I've been trying to hold my tears in since I woke up. I couldn't get much sleep because of how nervous I was, I woke up at three in the morning, and finally got up to get ready at five; It's almost seven now.
How strange this is, I feel as if my youth withered away. I miss my childhood, and especially my teenage years, which weren't too cheerful as I was a strange child, and even stranger teenage girl. I guess nostalgia is a bitch, but I just want to be fourteen again. Time goes by so quickly I'm getting whiplash.
I'm scared about meeting people, scared to not make friends, scared to be that weird teenage girl forever. I can't eat, my stomach's all closed up, and I've got a migraine. God, this is weird.
Anyway, I'll keep you posted, lots of love,
Anna.
I am currently recovering from a hungover because I went out last night, I usually don't really party but I graduated highschool yesterday and went to a bar to celebrate with friends. I had so much fun!!
I am also studying for my Uni Access Exams which are in about a week (I am so anxious).
I don't have much time to read lately, but I'm currently reading The sun also rises by Ernest Hemingway and Magnolia Parks by Jessa Hastings.
Xoxo,
Anna.
I have been fixing up my notion and revising notes for the new school year today. Actually I โaccidentally โ deleted most of my notion, all of my greek and latin notes from last year are gone, luckily i had them written down on my notebook which i still have so i will try to get them all written down and intelligible before the school year starts. God, how I fear growing up, I wish the school year would never start and I could be 17 forever...
I have been listening to Motherthing on audible while i walked my dog because it was impossible for me to get through it. I kept reading frankenstein too.
Love u, Anna ๐ซถ๐ป

No updates for Friday and Saturday, both were just so busy with class, work, and I pulled a double shift on Saturday last minute. But Sunday was super productive, and I'm so happy with that! Daily Check-in: April 2nd, 2024 ๐
Hello lovelies!
I am back with my daily check-ins, so i thought I'd start with April 2nd (even tho I know today is currently April 3rd)! I look forward to regularly posting again!
Tuesday was a rough day for me near the end of the day. I pretty much had an emotional stress-induced breakdown in front of my manager and director, but they were very kind and understanding, and I called my dad, who also was awesome, and helped calm me down. It's sage to say that a packed schedule and lack of sleep definitely don't mix well together!
๐ฉท What I Accomplished Today:
made some actionable steps for improving my health (sleep, nutrition, and fitness areas)
completed Chapter 9 of Spanish Busuu + made flashcards for it
attended my psyc class
completed the assignment for my Friday restaurant class
completed the take home questions for a quiz for psyc
Sent my academic advisor a filled out roadmap
๐ฉท Good Things That Happened:
one of my accountability buddies sent me a pdf of a Spanish textbook that I was able to download to my goodnotes, which is exciting!
I tried a restaurant on campus that I had never had before, and it was absolutely so delicious
my coworker is going to cover my shift on Friday evening, so I'll have time to relax/catch up on things
Got good advice from my supervisor about life stuff
๐ What Could've Been Better:
I need to reevaluate who I call my "friends" at work after a couple of interactions I've had with people I had considered my friends
Learned that over crowding my plate when already not sleeping well is not a good life combination and will send me to burnout a lot faster
On that same note, I do feel like I still need to learn to manage my time effectively. It's a hard skill to master but I did it before
my professor for psyc was 15 minutes late to class and then proceeded to continue lecturing 5+ minutes after. I felt bad leaving but I had a study room to go to
So that was my April 2nd! Today, I also have a busy schedule. I have an early morning in person meeting with an advisor for Finance majors (I may be adding a finance 2nd major....stay tuned), and then less then 2 hours later i have a meeting with my advisor for my current major. I know she's not going to be happy about me adding a 2nd major but ehh, if it'll benefit my future, then I want to do it.

Accountability Buddy Search!
I am currently on the search for an accountability buddy! Someone I can use to keep me on track with my academic goals, life admin goals, language study goals, and whatever specific things I'd want to accomplish! I also would love to help someone else stay accountable with their academic/language/life admin goals!
editing to add: I AM LOOKING FOR AN ACCOUNTAVILITY BUDDY AGAIN! Communication via discord and I will be updating my goals!
Here are some of my goals:
regularly studying spanish/Japanese
sticking to my routines consistently
maintaining a healthy, productive balance in life
regularly meeting my personal goals (reading, joirnaling, working out, etc)
Here are some things about me:
I am a 22 year old female
I am a senior n university, but 3rd year of studying my major
My major is Human Nutrition/Dietetics, and I am also minoring in Psychology and Exercise Science
I want to begin regularly studying Japanese and Spanish, and maybe Korean too
I want to begin reading, journaling, and sticking to consistent skincare and workour routines as well as keep academically inclined.
My Preferences in Accountability Buddy:
Female, 19-24 years of age (no minors or males, please.)
preferably in college/university, but it also doesn't matter if you independently study languages
also has some academic/productive oriented goals, or just goals that you'd like to be kept accountable on
has a not super personal way of contact for the accountability check ins (GroupMe, Discord, and eventually maybe a way to video call once we get more comfortable with each other, but of course, safety first! and tumblr inbox works too, but I feel discord or groupme might be a little easier long term)
hopefully willing to stay accountability buddies for a decent amount of time (for the next 4 weeks at minimum)
willing to lay out or goals, accountability check in schedule, and open to communication with respect to each of our time zones/schedules/commitments, etc
conversationaly fluent/fluent in English or English first language at the least. It's the only language I currently speak so it would be easier to work with someone that speaks the same language
If anyone is interested in having/being an accountability buddy, please send me an ask or message me! Please be respectful of my preferences tho, I really do want to be safe with something like this because with the internet, you never know. I look forward to possibly meeting/working with/becoming acquaintances with you guys!!
ps. please don't be put off by the aesthetics of my blog, I can assure you all, I am a typical, 21 year old college student who works an on campus job, struggles with sleep and caffiene, and is constantly staying on top of my grades and classes while also worrying if I'm doing enough to keep my GPA at a good spot. this blogs aesthetics are purely for fun and artistic expression. If I wasn't such an aesthetic-loving person, I'd post my own study type photos but I'd feel so less-than if I posted like, a non cohesive plethora of photos I take. I'm not good at taking photos
Day 11 - 90 Day Challenge ๐
Yesterday (11-25) was kind of productive? I ended up working a 5 hour shift at my job instead of the 8 hour one I was supposed to which by no means upset me because I still made money either way. I tried to get some stuff done beforehand but I honestly just took the morning for rest. I also go back to work this morning as well so I'm really happy to get back to routine.
๐โโ๏ธ Physical Health
took a 30+ minute walk around campus before I had to go to work
walked 9778 steps total
ate a really good salad with tomato, cucumber, romaine, shredded carrots, and balsamic vinegrette. (who knew balasamic vinegrette was so yummy!)
drank half a liter of essentia electrolyte water
stopped eating breakfast when I was comfortably satisfied and didn't push past my limits
ate 2 servings of fruit + 1 serving of almonds + 1 serving of cashews (so yummy, cashews and almonds for the win)
๐ง Mental Health
nothing that I can remember at the moment
โค๏ธ Emotional Health
some more retail therapy. bought myself some oversized t shirts online to use as gym shirts/everyday shirts. I may be plus size but I still love me an big comfy t shirt, especially to workout. I think I bought 11 or 12 shirts? cost me 90$ USD.
๐ Intellectual Health
does it count if I said I did a lot of budgeting for what I was buying?
because otherwise, nothing else
๐ Adulting
worked a 5 hour shift
phone call + zoom call with my boyfriend
took care of some laundry I had previously washed (still have more to take care of)
๐ฅฐ Self Love/Care
morning skincare
that's about it, but I think the walk helped my anxiety, and retail therapy always feels like self love because I used to feel guilty for buying myself stuff
Yesterday was a good day for sure. Today, my goals are to make it through my work shift, complete my reflection paper that's due tomorrow night, drink one liter of essentia electrolyte water, answer a journal prompt, and set myself up for tomorrow morning (I have a 730am class on Mon and Wed, so I gotta be up bright and early tomorrow!)
My Mondays are always so busy. Here's a little breakdown for those who are curious:
Wake up early, get ready, coffee, skincare, pack school bag, set out work stuff
Class at 730am to 845am
class from 9am to 1015am
quick snack at the dining hall at 1025am
review homework/tasks for the week
gym from 11am to 1215pm
walk home
shower, eat something proteiny, get ready for work
walk to work 130pm
work from 2pm to 10pm
get home, change/shower, zoom boyfriend
go to sleep by 11ish pm
I love Mondays tho, the routine always sets me up for the week!
Anywho, that's all for now!
Til next time, lovelies ๐ฉท
can anyone recommend a good textbook for learning Spanish? I really like studying using textbooks and I have two from when I took Spanish classes but they are the most unhelpful textbooks ever and I absolutely despise using them unless I have no other choice.
preferably Iโd like a textbook that focuses on grammar as vocabulary is pretty easy for me to pick up given how widely Spanish is spoken in my city.
Iโm also open to any music, song, movie, book, tv show, and any other spanish language learning material! I want to be able to speak spanish with some of the people I work with and I think itโs a great and beautiful language for me to learn overall, and definitely will be the most helpful!
*I am still going to self study Japanese during my six week break from classes, but I am going to try to divide my time between spanish and Japanese with a stronger focus on spanish! May even start a six week language challenge during my break to keep me motivated and accountable!
so if you guys have any recommendations for someone learning spanish (and even Japanese) , please comment/reblog this!
thanks in advance <3
favorite stationery items?
I thought of something fun to do on my blog that would keep me entertained for a while!
everyone and anyone can reboot this and/or comment with your favorite stationery items, whether you use them for school, bulletin journaling, or work!
Iโll start!
Zebra mildliners <3
Kokuyo campu binders and notebooks, grid paper tho as Iโve shifted away from using ruled/lined paper
Muji gel pens 0.5 (not the biggest fan of the 0.38 size)
Most gel pens in general
Brush pens! Iโve used zebra, tombow, etc
zebra milk gel pens (I think thatโs what theyโre called? They write so nice and the colors are so cute)
stabilo boss highlighters (pastel)
thatโs all I can think of right now. But I am an avid stationery lover and collector. The bigger I can grow my collection the better!
so let me know what some of your guys favorite stationery items are! Ohhh and maybe mention your favorite websites and/or apps for buying stationery! I love kawaii pen shop and stationery pal!
til later, lovelies ๐ฉท
In Need of Motivation ๐
can anyone recommend some good studyspo YouTubers or just any studyspo content, study motivation advice and tips for right now?
I have homework and studying I need to work on but canโt find the motivation to move from my bed to my desk.
I might try a Study to Success video, or an old video from Studyquill.
also, Iโm curious, what keeps you guys going to get some work done when you donโt feel like doing it? What sparks your productivity?
๐ฉท
small break from my normal challenge posts to ask a question and get some feedback!
Iโm going to start posting some language learning stuff and hopefully some study type content as well now that finals are coming up and during the following break I want to dive back into my language studies to keep my brain full of knowledge.
Can anyone recommend some resources and advice/tips?
Iโm looking for (Mexican) Spanish learning resources, Japanese learning resources, and advice and tips on motivation to keep going with the language learning, some productivity and discipline tips, and just any advice and motivation you guys have in general? Even if itโs not language related and just school and study related, I would be so happy to hear from all of you guys!
I look forward to posting some more normal everyday content along side the study school and language stuff along with my challenge updates! I feel like I havenโt been keeping up with the normal content I want to post so Iโm really looking forward to doing more of that now!
anywho, thanks in advance for the resources, advice, and tips! I appreciate all of you, lovelies ๐ฉท๐ค
Daily Check-in September 13th, 2023 ๐
So yesterday was absolutely one of the most productive days I have ever had, and I swear I enjoyed it so much. I got so much done, so much planned out, and I'm super happy. I also just got paid, so I bought some Japanese language learning resources, some desk organizer stuff for my ne stationery, and... some more new stationery. I can't help it, I love it all!!
๐ฉท What I Ate Today -
Breakfast - small bowl of boiled frozen chicken dumplings
Lunch - Leftover homemade cheeseburger and fries
Dinner - Mac and Cheese, Quesadilla
Snacks - rest of Mac and cheese
Extra - 4 cups of coffee
It has been a struggle staying awake some days so I do tend to over indulge in my coffee. It's so yummy. I also bought a matcha set so maybe I'll learn to make my own matcha drinks now and I'll cut back on the coffee?
๐ฉท Personal Achievements -
Swept bedroom/bathroom
Replacd old carpets with new ones
Replaced old shower liner with new one
Replaced old fitted bed sheet with new one
Organized my desk more efficiently
Washed dishes
Dyed my hair a bit again
Did a load of laundry
Put away ALL laundry in room
Took my bedroom trash out
Studied Japanese 15 min
I got just about everything on my to do list done in my room yesterday! I am super proud of myself for getting it all done. None of it was hard or took long but I had been procrastinating it so I'm just happy it got done.
๐ฉท Academic Achievements -
Completed and passed NUTR Exam 1
Completed and passed Culinary Quiz Ch 6
Completed and submitted Meal Three Writing Assignment
I didn't do any note taking yesterday cause I was on a video call with my boyfriend for most of the day on my Ipad, and my ipad is how I take notes. Since I don't have much to do today, I figured it'd be a good time to take some notes, watch my lecture videos, and read some textbook chapters.
๐ฉท To Do List for Today -
Read Ch 11 for Personal finance class + take notes
Watch Fitness For Health and Sport online lectures + take notes
Complete my Sample Nutrition Log assignment + submit it
Study Japanese 15+ min
Clean Bathroom
Attend RD mentorship meeting
Therapy
Extra Credit Meeting + mini writing assignment
I don't want to have to do too much today because I do have three separate meetings to get done today, and I believe this meeting with my first RD mentor is going to kickstart this program for me and add more to my plate. I have a meeting with my second RD mentor next week, so my schedule is gonna get very busy.
๐ฉท Song of the Day - Are You Satisfied by MARINA
This is a good motivational song for me to keep me on track with all my responsibilities. I love music so much, what would I do without it?
That's all for now, lovelies! Trying to get back into a self care routine is definitely a top priority right now, so expect some of that to be sprinkled into my updates again as I start becoming more successful with implementing it!
Til next time, lovelies ๐ฉท
Language Learning Goals ๐
because Iโm just starting out trying to re learn and familiarize myself with the Japanese language again, it was hard for me to think of current goals I might want to achieve, and what time frame Iโd want to achieve them in. I think I will begin posting a monthly goals list because as I learn more of the language, my goals are definitely going to change. Right now I have my long term goals for Japanese and then some short term daily/monthly goals!
conversational fluency - I want to be able to have comprehensible conversations with native Japanese speakers, and be able to understand what they say and also be able to speak the language myself
understand Japanese media - I want to be able to listen to music and watch Japanese YouTubers and Anime without subtitles
understand spoken/written Japanese - again, I want to be able to know what other people are saying in this beautiful language and also be able to read it to some extent.
My main goals long term are to travel to different parts of Japan in the coming future so being able to speak, understand, and read japanese are my biggest concerns but Iโd also like to have that knowledge of writing the characters and knowing proper stroke order too, just for fun and education!
Use one type of media as a passive learning tool (music, tv shows, YouTube, anime)
Study Flashcards 2-3 times (currently using my hiragana Flashcards I made on Anki)
Minimum of 2 Duolingo lessons
Practice writing the characters in an app (again, currently re learning hiragana)
1 other app lesson used as a supplemental learning tool (renshuu, Bunpo, LingoDeer, drops, etc)
My daily goals are a bit broad as this is typically what I want to do on a day to day basis for about a month of two, and then I will incorporate using textbooks, workbooks, notebooks, and really dive into the self studying and learning more structurally.
Memorize hiragana characters
Begin learning basic vocabulary (~30 vocabulary words by end of month)
Begin studying katakana characters (make Flashcards, use apps, etc)
Practicing speaking and pronunciation skills (shadow speak: use YouTube and some tv shows)
Practice realistic listening skills (YouTube videos, tv shows, anime)
Purchase Genki I and Genki II workbook and textbook + Answer Key and chart bundle
Kept a minimum of a 7 - 10 day streak on Duolingo
Joined Japanese club at my university
These are my current goals for the month of September! As the weeks continue, i will assess my progress and build new monthly goals depending on my current progress levels. Iโm really excited to be doing this and sharing this journey with everyone. The biggest thing about why I made this blog the way I did was to keep myself accountable for my goals and that is exactly what I plan on doing; reaching my goals!
I so deeply appreciate the encouragement and support you all show me on a consistent basis! It means so much to have this community to keep me accountable and just help keep me on track with my goals but also remind me to be kind to myself! You guys are absolutely amazing <3
Im gonna post a combined daily update for today and yesterday later tonight!
Til next time, lovelies ๐ฉท๐ค
***also, wanted to mention, none of the pictures I use are my own!!! I get them from Pinterest but I use them in my posts to keep me motivated to make my space and aesthetic in real life as similar as possible!
Daily Check-in September 10, 2023 ๐
I am so tired!!! This weekend has worn me out. I worked almost 9 hours on Friday, 13 hours on Saturday, and about 6 hours today, and I'm scheduled for another 9 hours at my job tomorrow. I'm so happy that I'm getting money for the things I need to buy but I'm so tired now.
Anywho, onto today's breakdown:
๐ฉท What I Ate Today:
Brunch - Two cheese breadsticks and half a slice of pepperoni pizza w 8oz of Dr pepper
After Work - One bowl of spicy Ramen w some fiesta blend cheese mixed in
Dinner - One home grilled cheeseburger and some baked French fries w ketchup and a can of Dr pepper
Extra - Three cups of coffee and a lot of water
It's not my best, but I'm tired, and I needed the energy. Hopefully, I can have something healthy tomorrow, like a smoothie or something for breakfast.
๐ฉท Personal Goals Achieved Today -
Did two loads of laundry (did not put away yet)
Showered and washed hair after work
Took out my trash (bedroom and bathroom)
Washed pillowcases and put back on my pillows
Planned out the upcoming week
Planned tomorrow mornings workout!!
I am planning on easing back into working out now that my back feels better. I'm trying to focus on some easier workouts that won't make it easy to re injure myself. I'm so excited to get back into my routine for the morning!
๐ฉท Productive Academic Accomplishments -
took and passed my PSYC Ch 3 Quiz
Passed the first 6/16 modules for a training certificate for my PSYC class
Almost completed my PSYC Chapter 3 Notes
Planned out homework for the week
๐ฉท Song of the Day - Workin Hard by Fujii Kaze
I was recommended to check this song out by a fellow blog, and it was the best decision I made, I absolutely love this song!! I would tag them, but I'm so sleepy that I don't wanna tag the wrong one!
I feel like today was definitely a good day to go easy on myself, work and productivity wise. I didn't want to stress myself out and I was successful, I think. Still trying to get my nutrition in order but it will all come together in time. I'm here for the journey to my best self, not some end goal. I never want to stop improving myself or learning.
I'm falling asleep as I type this, but I will be posting about my Japanese language goals tomorrow so stay tuned!
Til next time, lovelies ๐ฉท
Daily Check-in September 7th, 2023 ๐
Today was...not the most productive day for me if I'm being honest. When I'm using my Ipad to video call my boyfriend, I can't take notes like I want to, so I end up feeling like I'm behind on my homework. I'm genuinely thinking about buying a second Ipad to keep my personal life and academic life separate. I have a 2nd Ipad, but it's with my boyfriend, 1000+ miles away. My university sells one online for 300$ USD so I might buy it when I get paid next week.
๐ฉท What I Ate Today -
Breakfast - leftover burritos with taco bell Diablo sauce
Lunch - spicy ramen with shredded fiesta blend cheese
Dinner - McDonald's
Snacks - one mint choco chip yasso bar, two cups of coffee with creamer
Not my healthiest eating day but I have been incredibly stressed so I turned to easy, greasy comfort food though all its done is upset my stomach. Tomorrow will be better.
๐ฉท Personal Habits/Goals I Achieved -
nightly skincare routine
studied Japanese for 10ish minutes
took out my bedroom trash
made a workout plan for the week
made a goal setting plan for working out
got in touch with one of my two assigned registered dietitian mentors
got my three week grown acrylics soaked off professionally
I'm hoping to implement the workout routine tomorrow, but I want to take it slow ish because I'm still recovering from a back injury and whiplash from last week so fingers crossed I don't irritate the injury! Also, I'm super excited to be a dietitian mentee. The one dietitian I'm in contact with currently is absolutely the sweetest!
๐ฉท Academic Achievements -
finished my Fitness For Health and Sport module 3 notes
posted my discussion post and one classmate response for the same course
completed and passed the module quiz for the same class
completed and passed my Food Fundamentals Chapter 5 Quiz
planned for the next few upcoming days
My job has me scheduled for ~35 hours Friday thru Monday, so I am going to be so tired this weekend, but I need the money because I have rent to pay, I want to buy a Genki 1 & 2 Textbook and Workbook + Answer key & hiragana/sentence chart (and some other resources), I want some more stationary, and I need to buy more groceries soon. I am also planning to buy another Ipad, and add some language app subscriptions to my arsenal of language resources for my lazy days.
๐ฉท Song of the Day - TT Japanese vr by Twice
I love that there are so many Japanese versions of kpop songs that I absolutely love, so this way I can passively listen to the language while enjoying music! There's also a ton of J-pop songs I'm currently in love with. Some of my favorite j-pop artists are liSa, Kenshi Yonezu, YOASOBI, Fuji Kaze, Suda Masaki, Ado, etc.
I did not workout today, I did not do morning skincare, and I did not make my bed. I am planning on getting back on track tomorrow. I appreciate this platform and my followers who help me want to stay on track. I appreciate all 300+ of you <3
Til next time, lovelies ๐ฉท
Updated* Current Goals/Habits I Wish To Achieve ๐
I have added and removed some daily goals and habits from my first posted list, so I thought Iโd post an updated list of my goals and habits!
Workout 20+ Minutes Daily
Daily walks OR 10,000 steps a day
Drink 100oz of water daily
Read 30+ min or 10+ pages daily
Skincare routine AM and PM
Journal AM and PM
Make bed every morning
Study a language 10+ minutes daily
Sleep 6 - 8 hours nightly
Practice a hobby 10+ minutes daily
The two languages I am currently focusing on studying are Spanish and Japanese, the two languages I love the most. Once I get more comfortable with Japanese, I do plan on picking up Korean, as that is my third favorite. I used to self study Japanese for two years and even took a university Japanese class but had to stop and havenโt picked it up. Spanish is useful for where I live and I also think it is a beautiful language, and Iโve taken university classes for Spanish but due to my personal situations at the time, I wasnโt successful in those classes. I do currently have my Japanese textbook from my previous class as well as two Spanish textbooks from my previous classes.
Some hobbies I am trying to get back into is drawing and reading, and I am looking into starting some other hobbies such as crochet, cooking, scrapbooking/bullet journaling, painting, photography, learning sign language, and as I mentioned, language learning,
If anyone has any language learning (self study) tips or resources, tips and resources for any of the mentioned hobbies, or any general motivation or encouragement you want to share, please feel free! It would be greatly appreciated!
I know realistically I will not accomplish everything I listed every single day but the goal ultimately is to make an honest effort and keep my priorities in line with my daily actions. I am going to consistently work on myself and guide my daily routines towards progress and productivity while still giving myself the rest and recovery I need.
Thank you all!
Til next time, lovelies! ๐ฉท๐ค
Did I count the days wrong? Yup, definitely did. Well, let's just say that I have no idea how I'm managing. But today's exam was suprising. Really really suprising. I surprisingly remember the lessons we'll enough even without going through them that means I've learnt them good enough.
(By the way, i completed my English exam yesterday and my business studies exam today. Now I have my English (part 2) exam tomorrow and Business studies (part 2) on Monday.)
Studied English +2 hours
Honestly I feel like English is the only subject where i actually am calm and don't panic for the exam. The poetry and everything combined is so .... Fascinatingly serene.
