let’s go bois, another win for the redhead audio drama nation 💪
so far on the podcast roster we got:
warren godby (red valley)
agnes montague (the magnus archives)
and now, malachi ezechiel! (spire)
cant believe that in part two of spire we have been forced by the plot to announce that malachi ezechiel is canonically a redhead
I'm taking painkillers again and I get impulse to make memes
Yay Red Valley art dump :D
Releasing these from tumblr draft purgatory bc I just got caught up and I’m SO HAPPYYY JUMPING UP AND DOWN AND I NEED TO DRAW MOREEE
Valid reaction
I missed Gordon Porlock so bad I literally started crying at the end of the new episode man. The way Warren talked to Gordon like I’m actually losing it I love them so much.
“Are you gonna be here when I wake up?”
“That’s my line” I’m literally chewing on the walls
shut the fuck up shut up rkght this second i am going to lose my mind
S4E6 Finale
Also I feel like this all went fairly smooth and that worries me (sure a lot did happened but still) but I’m not going to think about that right now
Red Valley S4E6 Finale
I had to sleep and wait until morning so I missed it by a couple hours but HELLO???? SO many emotions and none of them I can express in a way that’ll do them justice.
That was incredible? It was just surprise after surprise. The swapping “that’s my line”s? Just stab me in the heart why don’t you? They’re so sickeningly special in my heart. As other people have pointed out, I love how we can always squeeze some genuine comedy in there too no matter how intense it gets, in the case with the “chop chop”. AND MALCOLM???? There’s so much here to think about wow. I wish I could be better at talking about this because this whole episode was wow
Basically just oh red valley how I love you
ITS ALMOST HERE I’m so scared so so scared but also extremely excited I don’t know what to think or feel. Depending on how this goes we might all need group therapy
What I think is going to happen next in Red Valley:
Gordon is not going to be a-okay
What I hope is going to happen next in Red Valley:
Gordon is going to be a-okay
Spoilers for Red Valley S4 E5
S4 E5 OF RED VALLEY??? THAT WAS SO GOOD, my jaw actually dropped at the end. I don’t know if I can wait two more weeks guys😔
I’ve never been good with words but I loved the voice acting for Bryony this episode, it was so interesting to hear her and Warren talk again. I’m still super curious about the whole Warren killing someone thing though.
Also I NEED Gordon to be okay I miss him so much PLEASEEE
It was so funny in my head I swear.
Also I will never figure out how to draw Warren.
It took me too long to realize that what Warren listened to in Gordon's cryosuit wasn't only the WYWH stuff. He also listened to the tapes from up to at least Premium Dead Forever. And I feel very stupid because he even REFERENCED these tapes to Bryony.
So we know for sure that he listened to Gordon cutting open the Yoghurt Lord. So. Uhm. Nice to know he is still acting normal around him I guess.
Also I'm curious if he listened to Grace calling Gordon Igor. He probably wouldn't call him out on it, since Grace's redemption arc, but I'm still curious. And also still a little bit pissed at Grace for that whole scene.
Still don't know why it took me so long to figure out the most obvious thing ever though.
Warren Godby really said 'this guy is just interesting' and then proceeded to get away with him on a road trip to blow open some cryoshit (without telling his wife) and get codependent and abnormal about the guy over the course of about two weeks.
Folks I think this guy might be just interesting or something...
I've been relistening to Red Valley season 4 (like a normal and sane person) and I just realized that the reason Warren came to the cryosuit in EP4 was just so he could find out what he did. He could've asked GORD to tell him about it literally anywhere else. And yet he came to Gordon to learn the one thing about himself he'd been the most terrified of. Because Gordon makes him feel safe. Because Gordon is the only person that didn't know and didn't want to find out unless Warren would be fine with it.
I guess Warren's finally made a decision to look together (I mean in a way??)
Guys... Do you think I should make crochet Warren... So he and crochet Gordon could hold hands and be perfectly happy and fine together... Also I am totally making Waffles.
Something something Warren only wanted to get out of Red Valley with Gordon and without him it all seemed pointless. And now he's got Gordon back and he once again has a reason to break free even if he breaks free into an apocalyptic future he knows little to nothing about. They make me sick /affectionate/
I'm crazy for WYWH3 playlist can you tell. It's my comfort playlist I can't help it.
OK SO. THE SEASON FINALE. LETS GO.
Spoilers under the cut.
Giving him a taste of his own medicine.
First of all, I sobbed when the episode began with WYWH theme. It's just a very sweet and melancholic theme and I love it.
The sound design was on top the whole season but this one literally ate so hard it alone made me super emotional.
Now to the actual content.
MALCOLM OH MY GOD.
I am a weak woman and I am the type to EAT UP anything family-related. And the way Rebecca was sincere and concerned about someone probably for the first time in years... And Malcolm was so sweet and soft with her I was on the edge of tears.
Bryony and Warren are so dear to me with their bickering. Fist fighting each other could fix them actually.
In GORD we believe. It is the funniest and I really love that everyone at the Valley likes it's voice and finds it soothing. I just think it's very nice.
I really can't say anything coherent about the blood transfusion because I'm so overwhelmed by blood symbolism in media I can't really tell when it's symbolic and when it's just part of the plot and nothing more.
Warren and Gordon are so sweet I am about to explode. They're literally soulmates it's insane. Like they may not be the endgame and it's fine, they work as a dynamic either way, but they're like jigsaw pieces that belong together. They remember everything about each other, every line since the day they met. They get better and show their true colors every time they have a chance to talk. They can find strenght in each other, they can finally relax and laugh when they're together. I'm so happy they're finally back.
I don't know why but I just feel so peaceful after this episode. Truly a masterpiece.
Thanks!
I like this moment so much.
Warren doesn't see Bryony as someone pathetic or incapable because of her condition. He doesn't succumb to her manipulations not because he thinks she's weak, he's just outgrown them. And I think it's because he's been in her place. He's been seen as someone incapable, as someone weak and wrong, as an object. He won't show her any support but he won't treat her as she treated him either.
Also, not related to my first point. Warren only mentions the way she looks once during the entire scene. However, Bryony mentions her appearance all the time. She is very conscious about the way she looks and it's clearly a very sensitive subject to her. But she doesn't want anyone too close to her actual feelings, so she makes jokes about it as a defence mechanism.
I'm not getting anywhere with this, I just think she's so real for only having violence and sarcasm as her defence options.
The red valley folk be so secretive like just TELL ME what this man did. It can't be worse than the majority of the things the others did. Why so secretive omg
You know, in 2020 they tortured Warren in the name of science. In 2064 they're just being assholes.
Spoilers for S4E3 under the cut.
Like DUDE maybe you don't want to argue with this poor godforsaken man (who's done nothing but MOURN his best and only friend since he emerged) about who knows the said friend best? I get it, it's your special little interest, but can we bring being empathetic back? As for Aubrey... Well, I don't know, maybe don't bring someone back into the world on someone else's funeral party. And don't be mad when the person who knows nothing about this world comes to you for the answers that YOU said you were going to give.
Warren wouldn't feel so alone if people were just nicer to him. It's not like he doesn't deserve some basic kindness. Because apparently people can be nice to someone like Malcolm but Warren just can't catch a break, can he? They're gonna torture this poor man forever I tell you.
I wonder if Gordon, once he emerges, would understand the appeal of going into hypersleep. I wonder if he would feel the same way as Warren did about going nowhere, thinking of nothing, simply being not. Because Gordon went through A LOT at Red Valley and he'd been going through a lot for a few years before it, starting with Oscar. And so I wonder if he would like Warren find some comfort in not being constantly worried or threatened or just in general terrified. Even if it feels like nothing. I mean their situations are really different and Warren's view on his state was majorly influenced by his amnesia and the possible change of personality and stuff but like. I just feel like there's a chance that Gordon of all people would actually get the point, even a self-destructing one like that.
Duuuuuuudeeeee Sunday can't come soon enough.
OK OK OK OH MY GOD. I'm actually crying. It was such a beautiful episode... A bit heartbreaking but beautiful.
Don't want to accidentally spoil anything so! Cut!
I really think I can draw some parallels between Jade and Warren and analyze everything properly but like. I can't right now. This podcast makes me too emotional to think.
Ok but big thoughts aside!!! Clive and Pam!!! Oh how she hates him I can feel it. My favorite morally fucked up people.
And Waffles!! My light and joy!!! Everyone likes Waffles!!!!
GORD is the funniest little guy in the world and must be protected.
Malcolm is a bitch and I think it feels awful for him to hear Gordon's voice instead of Rebecca's from Blue Sky. And that's part of the reason he's such a hater. Malcolm is the type to say the most disrespectful shit and then be like OH WELL IT'S A FREE COUNTRY INNIT. And honestly? Grandpa energy.
Hester is the sweetest and I really want to hear more from her she's so cool and like??? Motherly??? Idk she's awesome.
AND WDYM THEY WENT INTO HYPERSLEEP. Like it's great that they explained it because I was kind of lost with calculating their ages but DUDE.
Jade makes me cry but like I'm grateful??? It's amazing and heart touching and I'm a mess about her.
And well... Uhm... Don't really know how I feel about the visiting Gordon part. Plus I don't think it would be easy for Warren to even enter the cryosuite. It was mentioned that the security system is over complicated and like??? He just went there??? Didn't really get that.
All in all, happy Red Valley day to those who celebrate! I'm so excited!!!
What if 'would-you-rather' questions come back once Gordon emerges from hypersleep?? What if Gordon actually is amnesiac and those questions are the only thing connecting Warren to the man he knew??? What if Warren checks his answers and realizes they're just the same? And what if he realized they're not???? What then?????
Man I miss my good friend Gordon Porlock so much. I hope he comes back soon.
You know what would be amazing? Getting a Clive and Let Die kind of miniseries where the roles are reversed like in wywh3. Because Gordon is going to need to stay in quarantine and perhaps it would take him even longer to stabilize sooo sneaky channel 6 ;')
I need them to talk so desperately.
Ok so I may be stupid. But I didn't actually catch the 'memory loss is a possible side effect' bit. Isn't it the side effect of BRYONY'S treatment? It's discussed in The Boat and the Bridger iirc. Sure, it has everything to do with Warren's PTSD but it's Bryony who was erasing his memory with meds. It's really convenient how he only forgot the criminal part of his life.
Not to mention that Warren didn't experience huge memory loss when he was brought back to Red Valley and he had A LOT of hypersleep. And I get that the technology probably improved with time but none of the people who experienced hypersleep in s3 had any problem with memory.
So yeah. I'm not sure about Gordon losing his memory. At least I don't think it makes sense with all the information at hand.
The only possible reason for Gordon to lose his memory in my opinion is the fact that he was given the degraded goo (sorry, can't for the life of me remember what's it called). But well, I'm no expert. I guess we'll wait and we'll see.
