Superman/Batman: Public Enemies Superman/Batman (2003-2011) #6

“Hiro Okamura. The not so terrible Toyman. An… odd ally to say the least.”

Not gonna lie, Hiro is one of those minor characters that despite myself I really, really, truly love dearly. He’s never really had much of a moment to shine but even still I think he’s by far my favorite “product” of this run of Superman/Batman and dearly wish he got more time to be developed.

Just imagine him on Damian’s Teen Titans. It’s already fantastic. 

Okay but hear me out—

Wally sometimes dreams of the Speedforce and doesn’t treat it as a nightmare. He’ll go almost perfectly still and his breathing and heart rate would drop, almost as if he died. It’s deeper than sleep.

Bruce’ll wake up to the sudden stillness and for a second, he thinks Wally is dead (almost always, that’s the first thing that pops up no matter how many times he’s dealt with this before). He’ll watch Wally slowly and surely, unblinking.

When Wally wakes up from the dream, he’ll turn over and see Bruce staring. He’ll push his head to the crook of his neck, tracing nondescript patterns down Bruce’s back, mouthing silent apologies.

Headcanon: Everyone just assumes that between Bruce and Hal that Bruce is the disciplinarian and Hal’s just there to look pretty. But one of these men was raised in a strict military family and the other one drove his butler wild with his rich kid shenanigans. So the JL are in for a shock when BruceHal are off-world on a mission and the Bat kids have somehow set 2/3 of the Gotham harbour on fire. Like the water’s on actual fire. 

Barry: We’re going to tell Batman!

Batkids: *look at each other and shrug*

Batkids: Weird flex but okay. 

Superman: And I guess we should tell Green Lantern as well?

Batkids:…disperse!

i love the idea of all the younger heroes making vine, tiktok, and tumblr meme references and all of the older league members being confused af whereas Billy just be dropping refs right in to everyday conversation like it's nothing making the young heroes lose their minds cuz his comedic timing is impeccable

As a second generation immigrant this comic means so much to me. Community is so important! I love the idea of a local hero and I hope to see Tai Pham more often from now on!

lornahs has a lot of good character reading lists, dc & marvel

comic book reading orders has reading orders for almost all events & characters, dc & marvel

r/DCcomics’ wiki has a large recommended reading page & a newbies section for people looking to start reading for the first time

comic book herald has a list of reading guides as well as a where to start with current dc & a beginner’s guide to comics

the dc database has a recommended reading section

comics back issues has a list of reading orders as well as their guide to comics for new readers

This is fantastic and cursed, I love it.

Okay, but imagine everyone thinking Cap. Marvel/Shazam and John is dating because Billy follow John around like a puppy and sometimes he like to bring lunch for his dad in full hero get up. Sure John calls Cap. his son but everyone assume it's a kink thing

That’s a horrific misunderstanding, and justifiably hilarious.

Imagine a league member sees John kissing Zatanna and they think he’s cheating on Cap. The whole League goes apeshit because how dare he cheat on our sunshine man.

Meanwhile Billy’s just wondering why Canary sat him down and was like, “I’m sorry to tell you this but I saw John kissing Zatanna.”

And Billy’s like: “Uhh yeah so??????”

Someone asks Cap how long he’s been with John, and Billy misinterprets it and says, “I’ve know him for 2 years, but I’ve only been staying with him for the past few months”

“Oh so are you getting rings soon? Or are you waiting on John? Or is that not your style?”

Billy, wondering how they knew about the magic rings he and John were tracking down, “actually we are getting them together”

(Cue JL throwing an engagement party)

they also give off the vibes of “i lost my bitchass dog again” meme but the owner/creator of the poster is billy and the dog is constantine because billy unknowingly keeps constantine in check. 

constantine has to cut half of the shady shit he’s doing because hes in charge of a magic child now 

For gods sake, let John Constantine adopt Billy Batson. Do they have much cannon interactions? No. Are their personalities foils of each-others? YES.

Its literally the trope of ‘bitter badass adopts sunshine child.’

im adding more:

-kyle would definitely keep a pokemon deck with him at all times

-the lanterns tried to beat minecraft together one time and it failed horribly 

-the lanterns are still confused on how simon is the only lantern batman tolorates. 

-the alien GLs know more earth songs like “another one bites the dust”, “dont stop me now”, “im still standing”, “toxic”, “wannabe”, “say my name” and "i want it that way” because the GLs just breaks into song EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 

-the alien GL’s know vines because sometimes the GLs would quote them. (adding to this, whenever the GL’s mess something up at oa, the aliens nearby collectively say “ADAM”)

-guy has a collection of stickers and gives the stickers to the GLs. 

-tai does competitive trampolining

-the guardians had to ban trampolines one time because tai was using them to freaking jump high into the sky in oa, freaking out the GL’s. (adding to this, an alien thought he was the messiah or something)

-during a mission, tai sang “chug jug with you” and “revenge” while he defeated an alien army with john because he’s a meme kid

some random lanternfam headcanons:

all of them have extreme cases of “jet lag” every time they’re on earth since the concept of day & night doesn’t really exist in space

john makes dad jokes. and laughs at his own dad jokes

carol and john are both really good at the deadpan, totally straight-faced kind of sarcasm. the two of them have managed to totally convince kyle that kilowog is actually the king of his planet

(meanwhile kilowog wonders why rayner has started bowing every time they see each other, but he’s not questioning it)

the earth lanterns have randomly broken out into song so often that a lot of the alien GLs now know all the lyrics to Stayin’ Alive

hal and guy have an unspoken competition to eat the grossest alien foods. john is constantly worried for their safety

the other lanterns all have to put up with simon and jessica’s mutual pining and it drives them nuts

(hal and carol have flashbacks to when guy and john were going through the same phase)

sometimes the others will forget that guy used to be a teacher, and then he absentmindedly does something like give them little sticker constructs

carol still eats cheap takeout almost every day but she will absolutely spend her CEO money on buying a billboard near hal’s house just to print “Green Lantern Sucks!” on it

simon learned a bunch of magic tricks for his nephew and is really good at them, especially card tricks. he once saved himself and jess from being arrested by aliens with an impressive sleight-of-hand, and he’s ridiculously proud of that fact

jessica randomly bought a yankee candle for guy because “it made me think of you” and guy had to hold back tears

john plays minecraft, and he’s the kind of guy who makes really elaborate buildings and sculptures and redstone contraptions. he’s an architect, okay? it’s fun

kyle and jess also play minecraft together, but only with a pokemon mod

including earth, guy and john have gotten married on 31 separate planets and counting

I just been thinking about Alfred and Bruce a lot lately. Also I just really like the idea that before Bruce's parents death Bruce was really into natural studies like geology.
