GLOW UP GUIDE FOR 2025⠀

GLOW UP GUIDE FOR 2025⠀

READ: On average, it takes more than 2 months before a new behavior becomes automatic — 66 days to be exact. And considering that 2025 is precisely these many days away, why not start with our glow up plan already?

GLOW UP GUIDE FOR 2025⠀

Physical Glow Up-

BODY

— 5-10K steps a day.

— 7-8 hours of sleep.

— workout everyday for 1 hr atleast- yoga/stretching/pilates/cardio. a workout may take one hour, but your mood will be boosted for the next 12 hours.

— posture training.

— sunlight exposure after waking up for at least 10 minutes.

NUTRITION

— 2-3 liters of water every day.

— no caffeine, pick green tea or matcha instead.

— avoid sugars as much as you can.

— high protein diet, pre and probiotics.

— more fruits and veggies (+ green smoothies if you like).

— no junk/processed food/trans fat.

— no eating after 8 pm.

SKINCARE

— be clear on your skin type (oily, dry, combination, sensitive).

— once you're clear, use these accordingly- cleanser, toner, targeted serum, eye cream, moisturizer, sunscreen (≥50 spf).

— keep your bedding clean as well.

— no picking of skin on your lips, cuticle etc.

— gua sha to help improve blood circulation and lessen toxins.

— cold therapy may take three to five minutes of being uncomfortable, but your energy levels will be boosted for the rest of the day.

— remove makeup before you go to bed.

BODY CARE

— shower every day.

— exfoliate 2x a week.

— use body lotion (shea butter/aloe vera gel/coconut oil).

HAIR CARE

— wash hair 2-3x a week

— oil your scalp 2x a week, at least 3 hours before shampoo.

— hair mask 1x per week.

— never brush wet hair.

— use silk pillow case.

HYGIENE

— brush your teeth 2x a day, clean tongue and the roof of the mouth daily.

— floss daily.

— cut your nails 1x a week, never remove the cuticles.

— glycolic acid under arm for odor and discoloration.

— never use soap on your coochie.

GLOW UP GUIDE FOR 2025⠀

Mental Glow Up-

MINDSET

— set clear goals- define and breakdown your aspirations.

— start your mornings with positive affirmations.

— surround yourself with uplifting content and people.

— be shamelessly selfish to your career and mental health, remove anyone or anything that doesn't align with your priorities and wellbeing.

— boost your brain health by these 4 neuroscience tools:

difficult first: start your day with the most difficult task (cortisol and dopamine are high in the body meaning that your body/mind is primed to work).

rest your eyes: introduce a micro-pause after learning by resting/closing your eyes - will help retain information better.

tomorrow's worries: write tomorrow's to-do list before bed as it is proven to be effective in helping you fall asleep.

find time to play: engage in low-stake play. can be anything you find fun but where the outcome doesn't matter (induces neuroplasticity + reduces stress).

MIND

— meditation might take as low as ten minutes, but your focus will be improved for the rest of the day.

— no social media after waking up and at least an hour before bed.

— keep aside 1 hr of time to read daily! reading a new book may take five hours, but you will keep the knowledge forever.

— journaling, gratitude.

— digital detox once a week or for 12 hours.

— limit unnecessary screentime, unfollow or cut off people you don't want to see.

JOURNALING

— choose a regular time each day to journal, making it a part of your routine.

— find a quiet, comfortable place free from distractions. light a candle if you want.

— allow your thoughts to flow without censoring or editing.

— write about your feelings and emotions to understand them better. write about things you are thankful for to boost your mood. write about your short-term and long-term goals. identify what triggers certain emotions or reactions

— set a timer for 5-10 minutes and write continuously during that time.

— reflect on both positive experiences and challenges.

— make lists, journal your thoughts on these questions.

— journal at night to clear your mind before bedtime, because emotions and thoughts lose their power once we acknowledge them.

— a gratitude practice may take five minutes, but your mindset will be shifted for the rest of the day.

AFFIRMATIONS

— customise affirmations to your needs.

GLOW UP GUIDE FOR 2025⠀

Personal Life-

WEEKLY TASKS

— initiate small changes: begin with small, manageable tasks such as making your bed or cleaning your room every sunday.

— celebrate your success: reward yourself when you achieve your goals or have a consistently productive week. consider treats like buying flowers for yourself or watching your favorite show.

DAILY WORK

— set achievable goals: establish realistic goals for the day, week, or month ahead.

— track your progress.

— organise your work space, declutter your shelves etc.

— embrace the power of lists: keep a list of tasks to be done and their deadlines. this way, you start each day with a clear plan. to make it visually appealing and motivating, consider using productivity apps like evernote, habit tracker, or notion.

PRODUCTIVITY TIPS

— wake up early.

— plan ahead everything, do scheduling. you can use:

google calendar / notion / tasks .

— if the task takes less than 2 minutes to finish, do it immediately.

— countdown rule, if you are procrastinating, count 1-2-3-4-5 and jump.

— start slow, don't rush and try to do everything at one time.

— follow a proper routine, use app locks based on screentime.

— pomodoro technique, 25 min work, and 5 min break.

— schedule longer break times as well e.g 30 min nap.

Little things that improved my life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Little Things That Improved My Life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
Little Things That Improved My Life 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Accepting my sleep schedule. I'm a night owl; I focus at night, I'm calm at night, I'm motivated at night. For a long time, I tried to fight this since everyone always preaches getting up early, but since I started accepting my natural sleep schedule, I've been feeling a lot better and have become way more productive.

"drink more water". TEA. Tea is the secret here. I will be honest, I hate drinking water; it doesn't matter if I have a cute water bottle or a cute glass, I still hate it. TEA.

Replying quickly. I used to be one of those people who get a text message and think, "Oh, I'll reply to that later", and then just forget about it entirely. Now, I text back as soon as I see the message. This has not only improved my texting anxiety (which I cause on my own by now replying and then feeling bad) but also deepened my connection to my friends. <3

Keeping my circle small and being okay with that. Over the past months, I've had this sudden urge to expand my social circle and get to know more and more people, especially after I moved in August. However, this quickly ended in what I like to call my "social burnout". I was tired, annoyed, and overwhelmed. It took a few weeks for it to settle, but I've come to the conclusion that I would much rather have a smaller circle of people who I trust and love deeply than a huge group of friends, and that's totally okay.

Wearing what I like. Even though I live in a big city, I'd still say that my style can sometimes be a bit more extravagant than what most people wear, another point is that I'm very uncomfortable with pants so I only wear skirts, which is also considered a bit odd where I live. But over the past years, I've come to accept that and have become so sure of myself and found such comfort in my style that I now just wear whatever I like, and it makes every day a little bit nicer.

Reading and writing for pleasure. Reading books outside of my studies and spending time researching topics that simply interest me is such a great way to calm your mind. Same for writing, I always like to say that to write is to think; putting your thoughts on paper in cohesive and well-crafted sentences that you can then reread and think over again is such a liberating thing to do.

Reaching out more. fuck the whole "double texting" and "no contact" thing. If you want to speak to someone because they mean something to you, then just do it. Unless they specifically asked for space, you shouldn't feel bad about wanting to be in touch with them. Many even really appreciate it when you show that you truly care. Let's stop the nonchalant act, and instead, let's face deep emotions and true vulnerability. <3

As always, please feel free to share your own little insights and things that helped you improve comments! <3

study like paris geller

Study Like Paris Geller
Study Like Paris Geller
Study Like Paris Geller

start early

to get as much done as possible, you may need to start waking up earlier. this can be hard, but once you start, it will get easier and easier until it is part of your routine. wake up earlier, start earlier, get it done.

try not to see others as competition, but use them as motivation

while paris saw rory as competition at first, she finished knowing that no one could compare to her and just because rory was also very intelligent, it doesn’t mean that she wasn’t. there will always be others that are getting better grades than you or studying better than you, but try not to get caught up in that. she’s top of the class? use her to motivate yourself to do better. if you’re feeling low and comparing yourself to others, there’s probably a reason for that. find what it is within yourself, fix it, and come back better than ever.

use all resources available to you

paris wouldn’t let one opportunity to better her education or further her intelligence pass, and neither should you. use every resource and opportunity handed to you and work for the ones that aren’t.

stay determined

there will always be times where you don’t feel like studying or you’re feeling discouraged, but do not let these moments or days keep you from doing what you need to do. it’s okay to rest your brain when needed, but never quit. your future self will thank you for it.

have a plan and stick to it

take time to make a plan that will work realistically and effectively for you. once you have your plan, stick to it. again, there will always be times where you aren’t feeling like it, but don’t let these moments negatively impact your habits and goals. stick to your routine and you will get to a point where you don’t even think twice about it anymore.

go above and beyond

when it comes to studying, it isn’t always enough to just do the bare minimum. most of the time, it will benefit you far more to put some extra time and work in. research further than just a chapter of a textbook or a few slides of a powerpoint. you will never regret being more well-read.

get out of your comfort zone

paris knows that to be the best, you will have to do some things that you have never done before. you will have to talk to new people, present your research to a big group of strangers, travel if needed, learn things you never thought you would have to learn, etc. your comfort zone will be your downfall. realize that you will have to do things you aren’t enthusiastic about, and that’s okay.

How do I stop comparing myself to others and how can I feel fulfilled on my own without needing anyone else's validation?

hiii<3 i feel what you're going through, trust me i do. here are some of my tips that specifically worked for me + at the end i'll include some more recommended things to read/ watch.

how to stop comparing & feel fulfilled without needing anyone else's validation

How Do I Stop Comparing Myself To Others And How Can I Feel Fulfilled On My Own Without Needing Anyone
How Do I Stop Comparing Myself To Others And How Can I Feel Fulfilled On My Own Without Needing Anyone
How Do I Stop Comparing Myself To Others And How Can I Feel Fulfilled On My Own Without Needing Anyone

how to stop comparing yourself:

start focussing and thinking about yourself more. lol ok i realise that may sound like "become self absorbed" but i suppose, to some extent, that is what im saying. you're becoming too interested in others' life around you if you find yourself comparing. its time to focus on you and up levelling yourself to the best version possible.

comparison = wanting their life style, yes? so when you find yourself comparing to others in your life, realise that its because you envy something that they have. maybe its money, popularity, prettiness, intelligence, etc. so its like a signal in your brain which is telling you: "i want this. but i dont have it." so now what can you do, work hard to get it.

focus on what you have. i read a quote once (i think its by Oprah Winfrey) and it goes: "if you focus on what you don't have, you'll always have less. but if you focus on what you do have, you'll always have more." instead of looking at other's lives and thinking "i dont have this, i dont have that", look at your own life and think "i have this, i have that."

feeling fulfilled without needing anyone else's validation:

self love. self love. SELF LOVE. self love will ALWAYS be the answer to this. learn to LOVE yourself. and if you dont, ask why!! i have a whole guide on how to develop self love HERE. Stop looking for love in others, GIVE YOURSELF THE LOVE FIRST!!

It’s you over them. Always. Always always always. Always choose you over them. If they want you to do something but you don’t, then you say “no. I will not do that” it’s scary? Oh boohoohoo, suck it up. Because if you are constantly doing stuff that others ask you to just for the sake of pleasing them, you are disrespecting yourself in the worst way. You are basically saying that what they want is more important than what i want and need. Ew. Don’t do that.

SELF VALIDATION

SELF VALIDATION
SELF VALIDATION
SELF VALIDATION

First things first, if you validate your existence on externalities, you will never truly be happy. While it’s important to have values and to act on them, it shouldn’t be your main source of happiness.

E.g. parent validation, academic validation, and male validation. So, here are some tips to validate yourself.

VALUE YOUR OPINION. You should have the ability to make decisions and identify yourself solely on your opinion. Trust, giving people that ability to shape your decisions and curate your identity, allows them to dictate your worth.

SELF LOVE OVER OTHERS. Ensure you are doing everything in your power to treat yourself lovingly. Even if it means sacrificing a few things in life. E.g. going to sleep early instead of cramming for a test.

BE RESILIENT. When I say that, I don’t mean ‘don't let anything affect you’ but rather, build yourself up to the point that when someone/something knocks you down, you can bounce back easily.

BECOME SELF AWARE. Know your strengths, and weaknesses, and be mindful of the truth. Be genuine when it comes to this because self-awareness helps us with becoming more in touch with our inner selves.

AVOID NEGATIVE SELF TALK. This can cause us to rely on others to hear good things about ourselves. Instead, say affirmations in the mirror.

STOP PEOPLE PLEASING. There’s a difference between genuinely being nice, and being a doormat. You shouldn’t have to bend over backwards for others, and they give absolutely nothing back. Invest that time and effort into yourself.

SOMEONE’S GAIN IS NOT YOUR LOSS. This is a mindset shift that will change the game. You have to stop seeing successful, wealthy, pretty or intelligent people as threatening your skills or talents. There is enough success for everyone.

DETACH FROM OTHERS. Friends, family, males, etc. Stop letting how other people treat you, dictate your mood for the rest of the day. The only factor your mood should depend on is you. What you do, say, and act is the only factor.

KNOCK OTHERS FROM YOUR PEDESTAL. The only person that should be on top of your pedestal, is you. By doing this, you create an inferiority complex for someone else and give them superiority.

OTHER’S OPINIONS ARE MOMENTARY. They will always move on with their day and see what needs to be done. They do not care about you as much as you think. So, do not even try to give them the time of day.

BUILD BOUNDARIES. With others and yourself. Both are equally important because you value yourself enough not to do something you’ll regret.

Essentials for a cosy study day 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Essentials For A Cosy Study Day 𝜗𝜚˚⋆
Essentials For A Cosy Study Day 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Tea, coffee, water. Drink more than you think you should; it will help you focus!! My recent obsession has been chai lattes. :)

Get ready even if you plan on staying home. Take a shower, do your hair make-up, and do whatever you would do on a regular day, too.

Cosy but cute fit. Something comfortable that still makes you feel pretty and good about yourself.

Set some goals. Whether this be a specific page number you want to reach, a set study time, etc etc., keep it achievable, tho!!

Play around with music and playlists when you lose focus. I always switch between studying in complete silence, classical music, lofi, and more gloomy playlists; this helps me stay focused for longer. :)

Take little breaks, stretch, have a snack, open a window, and catch up with your friends for a bit to avoid feeling burned out or overly exhausted.

Make your study space cosy, light a candle, get a blanket, adjust the lighting and temperature to your liking, and keep your desk organised.

Watch something cosy but motivating like Gilmore Girls if you're just organising your notes, school stuff, or simply studying lighter material to keep you entertained.

Here are some of my favourite study playlists 𝜗𝜚˚⋆

Back to school gloominess

Old Ivories (piano music)

Rory Gilmore Autumn

tips on how to get out of a reading slump?

Tips on how to get out of a reading slump 📖

Tips On How To Get Out Of A Reading Slump?
Tips On How To Get Out Of A Reading Slump?

Start small. Look for a short stories book that fits your preferred genres, or for a really short novel (under 200 pages). Something that you'd be able to read in one sitting, if you really get into it, or two days of leisurely reading. Short stories are better for this, in my opinion, because you'll get more punch for your buck. Poetry is also a good option for this, if poetry is your thing.

Switch it up completely. Maybe your slump means that you're tired of reading the same genres with similar plotlines. Try reading something that is completely new, completely different from what you usually read. Different genres, or something by an author from a very foreign country to you, or a different demographic... Just run to the opposite direction.

Get off the mainstream. If you get your book recs from social media, it's very likely that you'll end up reading pretty much the same book over and over, because book bloggers and vloggers usually talk about what will get more engagement, and these are mainstream reads. Try getting out of these environments and look for books that are "off the scene", books that aren't necessarily the most popular ones but that look interesting.

Don't read the book before you read the book. There's a big trend nowadays of people who read books seeking particular tropes, pairings and plotlines, which means they have to know what the book is about before even starting it. If you also do that, try stopping it and instead just pick up books with as little previous knowledge as possible. You can even judge a book by its cover! Let the book surprise you instead of trying to like it before you read it. On that note...

If it's not fun, drop it. It's completely fine to drop a book if you're not enjoying it, and you don't have to force yourself to finish everything you started! It doesn't matter if everyone else on your feed loved that book and is talking about it non-stop: if it doesn't captivate you, let it go and grab another one. Trying to force yourself to finish uninteresting books is a sure recipe for slumping.

Stop the bookblring for a while. If you're active on social media writing reviews and blogging about literature, you may want to give that a pause if you're in a slump. You may be looking at reading more as a chore or a job than an enjoyable activity of leisure and fun, trying to read what you think your followers will enjoy or what will get the most views and clicks instead of what you will enjoy reading. Try reading more for yourself, privately, if you think this may be the case.

Read a classic. If you're the type who reads more contemporary books, try going back in time towards the literature that set the foundation for what gets written nowadays. This may help rekindle your interest because you'll feel connected to something so much larger than life; people who have been dead for centuries felt like you felt, enjoyed what you enjoyed, laughed and cried along with you through the streams of time and space.

Try writing. If you don't write already, give it a shot. Perhaps what you're really looking for is a story that is within you rather than in the pages available to you. Don't do it with the intent of publishing it or even showing it to anyone else: write for yourself, write something you'd enjoy reading, and do read it!

That's all I have for now, but feel free to add more tips on the replies, as well as book recommendations if you have any. I hope these are helpful to you ♥️

bad habits that held me back for years

negative self talk: tune into your inner voice and turn mean thoughts into kind ones

prioritising comfort over progress: you have to actually do the work, then enjoy your rest and comfort (with less anxiety too)

hanging around the wrong people: you are the sum of the people you spend the most time with, choose your friends carefully

never taking responsibility: tough stuff happens to everybody, focus on what you can control (you) rather than blaming outside circumstances (not talking about trauma here obviously)

expecting praise for 'being yourself': you're good enough as you are in a spiritual sense, but if you want to be excellent at something you have to actually do the work, not just expect praise and reward for just showing up

liking the aesthetic more than the work: do you want to achieve that goal or do you just like how it looks on pinterest??? make sure you derive some level of pleasure and satisfaction from the pursuit

overthinking: seriously just tell your brain to shut up. stop over intellectualising and over thinking every single thing. find your heart to guide you and save your brain power for working on your passions...

drink water

this is an absolute game-changer ! bonus if its warm or room temperature, really gets the metabolism going as well as soothes your throat !!

make your bed

this makes my room look MUCH neater, and gives me peace of mind + incentive not to get back under the covers and doze off again TT

meditation

another thing that calms me down greatly and gets me focused and set for the day, i really recommend lavendaire, her meditations are top-tier and she has several lengths to pick from

morning yoga

debloat yoga or stretching is a must for me, it helps aid my digestion as well as reduce bloating in the morning.

exercise

i like to do either shirlyn kim, april han, chloe ting or momomi workouts in the morning ending with a hinafit's full body stretch that's twenty minutes long. i use chloe ting's workouts as cardio mostly and then a set of targeted hiit from momomi and relaxing pilates from shirlyn kim and april han.

i am also trying to go on walks in the morning as well TT

skincare + dental care

my skincare routine in the morning is cleanser + toner + hydrogel + sunscreen + matte sunstick + lip balm and my dental care routine is herbal toothpaste + fluoride toothpaste + mouthwash. i wash my hands between and before/after steps.

shower routine

i use a pumice stone and sugar scrub in the shower to exfoliate along w baby soap and shower gel to clean up. i apply three layers of moisturizer + coconut oil on getting out !!

reading

in the mornings, i like to either annotate classics or read my weekly self-help book or just read educational nonfiction and take notes in my commonplace journal about them.

journalling

i fill out five affirmations, five things i'm grateful for as well as my intentions for the day. i also write down what would make my day great, as well as habits to focus on (at least three)

planning

i plan w/ my planners, notebook and wall calendar spread as well as notion and a habit app, as well as google sheets.

that wraps up this post, and here is the printable checklist spanning four days

Why Self-care Matters
Why Self-care Matters

why self-care matters

self-care can be mental, physical, spiritual and emotional. for me, self-care are mainly things I love to do that kinda makes me feel whole

what is self-care? self-care refers to any activity or practice that individuals engage in deliberately to maintain, enhance, or restore their physical, mental, or emotional health. It involves recognizing personal needs and taking action to meet them in a way that promotes overall well-being.

why self-care matters? self-care matters because it plays a crucial role in maintaining both mental and physical well-being. more on this:

mental health: self-care helps reduce stress and anxiety. taking time to care for yourself allows your mind to rest, recharge, and manage daily challenges more efficiently

physical health: proper self-care includes things like exercise, sleep, and a balanced diet, which are essential for keeping the body strong, reducing the risk of illness, and improving energy levels. oh how I love exercising and moving my body it makes me feel so good and strong.

emotional well-being: it promotes emotional health by providing time to process feelings, and enhance self-compassion.

productivity: taking care of yourself prevents burnout and boosts your ability to focus, work efficiently, and maintain motivation.

relationships: when you're balanced and healthy, you’re better equipped to engage meaningfully with others. self-care improves communication.

self-awareness and growth: It encourages reflection and personal growth. when you consistently check in with yourself, you become more aware of your needs, strengths, and areas for improvement.

by prioritizing self-care, you ensure that you are able to thrive in both your personal and professional life.

my favourite forms of self-care: everything showers, skincare, lotion skin, cozy pyjamas, long walks, naps, pilates, working out, reading fanfics, routines, lazy days and more 💌 dew

I can't believe it took me to reach almost 30 to realize that beautiful people who are in shape are so because they are disciplined and they take care of themselves. Schools should teach us how to manage our money and how to take care of ourselves more, lol. I feel so stupid, but I'm glad I've lost more than 50 lbs and I'm almost at my goal weight. I've been eating cleaner, and I've come to terms with so many things, all because I'm surrounding my socials with good vibes and good inspo. Anyway, I'm writing this because your blog is one of those good places I use for inspo and it keeps me on track. Just wanted to say thanks! I hope you're having a nice day. Oh, and what would you recommend if I'm going to a birthday party soon but I'm on a diet to lose weight? Should I just eat lightly throughout the day and then eat a normal meal with a piece of cake at the end? What would you recommend? Thanks!

I loved reading this so much, thank you! 🩷

I definitely relate to what you said. I mean, we always hear that things like exercise and healthy food, for instance, are good for you, but we also hear that they're annoying, boring, expensive and meant for a Certain Kind™ of people who never seem to be people you've met before. And we also don't really hear why they're so good, or how are they so good, which only distance us further from these easy, fantastic habits. We're so disconnected from who we're supposed to be and from who we, as humans, used to be!

But better late than never; what's really important is that we're showing up for ourselves now, and that we get to do this now.

And definitely do that, eat some cake! What's the point in dieting and putting so much effort on yourself if you can't enjoy a treat at a party? 🌷

Building A Routine
Building A Routine

building a routine

creating a routine can help you stay organized and make the most of your time. to help you design a routine that works for you, take a look at these steps:

identify your goals: think about what you want to achieve with your routine. this could be related to work, study, personal projects, or self-care.

prioritize tasks: list out the tasks you need to accomplish and prioritize them based on importance and deadlines.

set specific times: allocate specific times for each task. try to be realistic about how long each task will take.

include breaks: make sure to schedule regular breaks to rest and recharge. this can help you stay focused and avoid burnout.

be flexible: while it’s important to stick to your routine, allow some flexibility for unexpected events or changes in your schedule.

review and adjust: periodically review your routine to see what’s working and what isn’t. make adjustments as needed to improve your productivity and well-being.

start small: if you’re new to routines, start with a few key tasks and gradually build up as you get more comfortable.

stay consistent: consistency is key to forming habits. try to follow your routine every day, even on weekends.
